Unfathomable: Church Massacre

How long do I have to be here before I'm not considered "new"? I think there are many people that are confused at what actually violates the rules.

I'm not distressed at all btw.

In my view being here a couple months is relatively new. Your reality may be different. It's really irrelevant as it wasn't offered as a criticism, simply an attempt to be courteous. I'm sure you can peruse the site or contact one of the mods if you have questions regarding the rules since I don't have any other insight in that area.

My question is if he is so afraid of supposed black rapists taking over America why go to a CHURCH and shoot people? Aren't church goers usually the ones fighting the kind of stuff he was so afraid of? That doesn't make any kind of sense. I wonder if he knew the pastor was a Senator?
This church? On this day? It's the anniversary of a significant event in the Church history and Charleston history. A slave revolt where the church was burned down in the aftermath.

The shooter was previously arrested with suboxone which has been linked to severe behavioral changes and violent outbursts in usually mild mannered people. That combined with the 24/7 coverage of the recent riots and inner city violence could certainly push a racist, nut job over the edge. It works with what he said at the church.

Because he is a coward, and he knew he would be welcomed into the church. He sat with those people for an hour before he started murdering them. They were easy targets for his massacre, and I'm sure the people below were not who he truly believed were out there raping "our" women. So sad.

  • Cynthia Hurd, 54, a manager with the Charleston County Public Library system.
  • Ethel Lance, 70, a retiree who recently worked as a church janitor
  • Rev. Clementa Pinckney, 41, a South Carolina state senator and pastor at the church
  • Susie Jackson, 87, a longtime member of the church
  • Depayne Middleton Doctor, 49, former Charleston County community development director
  • Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45, a church pastor, speech therapist and a high school girls' track coach
  • Myra Thompson, 59, a pastor at the church
  • Rev. Daniel Simmons, Sr., 74, another pastor at the church
  • Tywanza Sanders, 26, a 2014 graduate of Allen University, where Pinckney was also an alum

So so very sad. :(

I don't need the media to tell me what to believe. A person that young with that level of hate learned it from somewhere. I believe he learned it from family, friends and his community .

OK, because you are accusing his neighbors of being racists without any facts to back up that claim. That is a heavy accusation to make.

My brother belongs to a non-denominal church and 3 or 4 years ago the pastor asked 2 or 3 of the men to carry guns in case of a situation like this. Scares the heck out of me.

It really infuriates me that he sat in there, fully welcomed, for an hour, contemplating his misdeeds. And then left one person alive intentionally to "tell about it". And the poor little 5 yr old played dead because "her grandmother told her to". Do we know who her grandmother is yet?

Yes, prayers and good thoughts are allowed here, btw. Debate of religion is not. And Lisa Loves Pooh is exactly right - this thread would be shut down and another would not be allowed if that happens. Believe me, it's not that we wouldn't love to say more. It's just that it's not allowed, so we have to live with those rules, like it or not, if we're going to post here.

I wonder if he even knew that? Racists are not generally well educated on other people's history of struggle.

Just when you think you can't cry another tear this happened. May they all rest in peace.

He was well educated enough to recognise the significance of Rhodesian and South African flags.

I agree with you if that didn't come across in my post. You seem a bit aggressive towards me. My point was that he had nothing logical to be gained by this. If he was striking a blow for "his people" (count me out of that, barf) because he was afraid of violent blacks a church is not the place to find those types of people and even an inbred clansman knows that.

When the KKK burned black churches it was to intimidate the people into not utilizing their rights as citizens. To keep them from voting or protesting poor treatment not just to kill people. It was a form of control. An organized form a social control. Terrorism. But Front didn't tell them if you continue to do this or that you'll get more of this treatment. He said he had to do this because he believed they were bad people. He is a nutjob, not a White Wizard or whatever they call themselves. This has all the hallmarks of psychotropic drugs, persecution complex and stupidity.

And posters here have accused parents of not parenting and whole communities of not taking action and/or caring when black teens/young adults riot or mouth off to police.

If it's OK to point the finger at the community in those cases, then it should be OK to do the same now.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across aggressive to you, that is not my intention at all. My aggression is towards Dylan Roof so I apologize if you felt it was towards you.

Front? I'm confused.
