He had no reason to do this? We know his reasons. He said his reasons. Are we not supposed to dwell on them so people aren't made uncomfortable by this massacre, this terrorist act?

Is the gun control thing what's being referred to as political? Gun control is a red herring in this particular instance, in my opinion. But racism is an indisputable factor, and if we're talking about the event, it's going to be discussed.

In this particular instance, it seems like talking about gun control swings the focus away from the fact that it was a racially-motivated hate crime.
