Undercover Tourist.--What's the process for a refund?

Question. I have 5 day hoppers for end of June to july 3rd. If I were to simply reschedule the trip until next year, could I simply turn the tickets (hard ticket) in towards credit for tickets next year when I go? I am a little concerned with sending my hard tickets back and then having to wait for a refund. Id rather just reschedule the trip and somehow get credit for the tickets i have towards my next trip. NOTE: Even if they fully open by end of June, we are probably looking to reschedule anyway.

TIA

I am curious about this too. Can I pay the difference to UT next year for the new ticket or do I have to get them from Disney?

I bought 3 days tickets through them. Disney gave me credit towards a new ticket. You can leave on Disney site and the amount will go towards any new ticket you buy.

I have 10 day park hopper plus tickets that i purchased for our family of 6. Our trip was supposed to be 5/10-5/20. I purchased from UCT. They have already been linked in MDE. I just assumed they could be used when we reschedule for next year. I assumed I would have to pay the difference to Disney. Am I wrong on this?

Hmmm, I can’t decide if I should get a refund from UT or not. Trip is scheduled for Aug 1 with date specific tickets, very high chance of rescheduling to 2021. So even if I keep my tickets, the difference I pay could still work out to about the same as getting a refund and buying tickets all over again next year. I paid the pre-tax hike rate on these and seeing this in the stickied ticket thread makes me think a 95% refund might not be so bad.

“Note that if the ticket was purchased from a discounter/broker the value given is what Disney sold the ticket for to the discounter/broker and NOT what YOU paid for it. (This price will be less -maybe much less- than what YOU originally paid for the ticket.)”

any thoughts?

I spoke to Disney on this. They told me I should link my tickets to MDE, and on there I can change the date to whenever we are ready to go. Even if we don’t have a date planned yet, the ticket value can be applied to our future purchase of tickets. Any cost increase over that time and the taxes I would have to pay. Makes sense.

It does make sense... but Disney was aware these were tickets purchased from an authorized reseller and not from Disney? I’m worried about my OTC tickets and not sure what to do.

This is NOT correct. The credit will be equal to what WDW would have sold that same ticket at the time you bought. Not what the 3rd party seller paid. If your new dates cost more, you will have to pay the difference. You should be able to do this in MDE before the ticket expires, but occasionally there is a glitch and folks have to call. After the tickets expire, you will need to call but WDW can “see” the tickets even if you can’t. Just price our what you expect to be the extra cost so you know what to expect.

Thank you. After re-reading, this is under the section about somebody else using the ticket rather than the original owner.

You may transfer your fully unused ticket to another person and it will have the same credit value. If transferred before the ticket expires, the new owner can upgrade it. Once that ticket expires, you probably won't be able to transfer it simply because expired tickets typically disappear from MDE. WDW can see it on your profile and it still retains value. In that case, the original owner would likely need to be the person to upgrade and then transfer the ticket. Value for credit remains the same, though.

We bought tickets for our son and girlfriend to use for one day at the end of March. Disney told us that the dates for those tickets to be used has now be extended through December 15 without us having to do anything. I looked at my MDE and that is what it shows there as well.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. You can now turn an expired ticket into a credit toward a new date by calling, not just by appearing in person at guest relations?

That makes rescheduling for a year out so much easier - I thought I was going to have to roll tickets forward to fictional dates to guarantee I'd get the 60-day fastpass window.

I think this might be a question for Undercover Tourist but I will post it here. I bought 9 adult 10day park hopper plus tickets for our planned trip from 11-28 to 12-11. We have all heard rumors of Disney not opening until early 2021 and then with reduced activities, no parades or fireworks. Even if Disney were to open before our dates, none of us want to go unless things were back to normal and all threats of the virus are gone. My question is can I get a refund from Undercover Tourist if the parks are open and we just want to wait another year? I have been using Undercover Tourist for many years and have nothing but praise for them.

I’m not trying to be snarky here, but if you’re waiting for all threats of the virus to be gone, you’ll never be going back. This virus is never going to be completely gone.

I spoke with UT today about a refund on tickets purchased for our now-cancelled March trip. They have a form to sign that you send to them along with the tickets and you'll get a 95% refund in 4-6 weeks. My tickets were entered into MDE but they said no problem. If the original ticket dates were changed by you then they can't be returned (this does not apply to Disney extending the tickets to 12/15/20).

About how long did it take after UT received the tickets back to actually receive your refund? Weeks, days, etc? I mailed the tix back, were confirmed received Tuesday the 19th. Just curious.

Here's my timeline. They received my tickets on May 11. I got an email on May 14 saying Order Cancelled. I just got an email today (May 29) saying they haven't forgotten about me and that I am in line to get a refund and that it should be within the next 2 weeks.

Actually my family had somehow lost the tickets between March and May :guilty:. I spoke with UT on 5/15 and they said they would still refund 95% of the ticket cost and it would take 4-6 weeks. Talk about GREAT customer service!
I received an e-mail today saying my refund was being processed and I should see the credit on my card in 2 weeks. So just about 4 weeks from the time I initially spoke with them.

I called 2 days ago asking about getting a refund on my non-refundable tickets that were not yet connected into MDE. My trip was supposed to be Sept 1st. I also got the email today stating that I will get a refund in 2 weeks. I've bought tickets from UT before and even hotel rooms. I will continue to do so. Let's just hope I get the refund when they say. An International airline has been "processing" my airfare refund for weeks now and 3 phone calls. This was for a non Disney trip. But I'm only able to exhale when I see it on the credit statement!

I guess you guys got a correction email also. It said the first one shouldn't have said refund coming in 2 weeks, but rather 2 weeks are added to the original timeframe. Basically to expect it 6 weeks from when they received it.

With the extension mine is about 8 weeks from when they received it. I assume not everyone got the corrections. I assume the people earlier in line, so to speak, will get theirs in the next 2 weeks but people who's arrived a little later will be pushed out.
