Un-Tangled-Getting My Life Back....PTR!! TR Started! 5/30

Our first trip to WDW!!!

I'll first take you back to....
March 2007. My DH had just come home early from work and said he had something he wanted to discuss with me. Now my husband is a man of few words, so when he's coming home early from work and needs to speak with me....I'm thinking he's just lost his job, or worse! :scared:

My DH had just gotten his review from work and wanted to share with me all that had gone on.
See, earlier that year my DH said the company he works for won't be giving out bonuses like in previous years. To say it was disappointing was an understatement, but what could you do? :confused3
I remember when he told me about it, I said a little prayer and put it out of my mind.
Fast forward back to my heart attack and my husband's little chat. DH proceeds to tell me all about his review and that he had indeed got his bonus!! :cheer2:
In this awesome moment and having lost his mind over this glorious news, my husband blurts out....."Let's take the kids to Walt Disney World, like you always wanted to!"
:faint: <-- Me
Now, this might not sound like that big a deal to you (not the trip to WDW-that's always a big deal), but after 16 years of marriage and not going anywhere on a vacation other than to my in laws in Calif., not to mention years of begging to go any where else.... THIS WAS A BIG HAIRY DEAL!!

I of course got busy planning and figure out all the in's and outs of going to WDW, and I only had two short months to plan it all in. :crazy2: We decided to go May 2007 so we could miss the summer heat and crowds. :goodvibes
Thank goodness I found the Dis boards before the trip! I joined and found out even more of the in's and outs of Dis planning and thought I was going to lose my mind before we even left for the trip.
Wouldn't trade one single second of it. :p
The trip was wonderful, Mackenzie doesn't remember her first trip to DL since she was only 2, it was so amazing to see this trip through her eyes for the first time. :cloud9:

Her first time seeing the Castle...

Just click on the picture's to see it in full view.....

:rotfl: She's such a drama girl.

I can't believe how little she was there. :sad1:
This is a picture of my two just three years later. :sad2:

Be sure to click on pic.....
Can you tell by my son's smile he was not happy about having his picture taken?

Mackenzie has a summer birthday so we planned to celebrate her B-day while we were there, we had such a great time. I, of course drove everyone nuts with all my ubber planning, but had a great time in spite of it all.
I honestly didn't think we'd ever go back, but as you know in previous posts that hasn't been the case and now I'm planning my first girl's trip and I'm probably just as excited as I was the first time we went.
Maybe more so. :woohoo:

Thank you for reading along. :grouphug:

I promise to finally get to introductions, at some point.

No, I didn't do a TR for DL. I don't think the trip would be that interesting to other folks - not much strange or unusual happened, and I'm not all that funny a writer. But I love reading other peoples' TRs!

Woot woot for 10 months to go!! :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :dance3:

I KNOOOOOOW!! :dance3: I'm so happy.

You ought to though to show everyone your pictures. People love pictures.

::yes:: She's right. I'd love to see and hear about the trip. :goodvibes

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Only ten months to go.

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Makes me sooooo happy!! :dance3: :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2:

Love the "falling in love with Disney updates." The pics of the kids are adorable; amazing how they grow in such a short period of time.

I love the wonderful memory you have about going to the drive-in with your pajamas, popcorn and the hatchback. So much fun! popcorn::

Where to start, where to start.........:scratchin You made me think of my first trip and maybe I will touch on that in my pre trip report. You brought back some great memories. And memories of going back after years of being away.

Oh the drive in. Sigh. We recently introduced our kids to the drive in. My daughter who was 17 at the time thought it was wonderful because she could talk.:confused3 I used to love going as a kid.

What fun memories to share with your kids. I think that is a good thing.

Thanks for sharing how your love developed! It is fun to see where your experiences come from, but it also made me reflect and enjoy my journey, too!:flower3:

Your drive-in memories are so fun! Did you have the dancing hot dogs and popcorn before the movie started? Did you have a swing set at the front near the screen?

Look how fast the kids grew - I know they are even more grown up now.

Ooooh, thank you Ms. Kat. I was so worried it was going to bore everyone to death. :rotfl: It is amazing how they grow in such a short time. Our first trip the kiddos were 14 and 7, the next trip they were 17 and 10. Can you believe the difference?!? :goodvibes

One of my favorite times as a kid. :goodvibes

:woohoo:This really blesses me to hear.

Talking at the drive-in, I think she and I would get along swimmingly!

::yes:: I totally agree.

You're welcome! I love going down good memory lane, I didn't have a lot of good memories growing up, but what one's I do have I treasure.

Yes they were and yeah we did! :cool1: It wouldn't be a drive-in without the dancing food. I think my favorite was the ice cream in the cups that came with a wooden spoon. They never tasted as good as the dancing cartoons made them out to be.
You know, I'm sure we did have a playground, but it wasn't something we went and did. We usually parked waaay off onto one side of the drive-in so we'd be out of the way of other cars and didn't have to deal with all the dust. No where near the playground. That was okay, we really loved the movies (still do) and it was such a treat to be there that we didn't want to miss anything. Ty-DS19 and I were just talking tonight (while watching Wedding Singer )about some classic movies (from my generation) that he needed to see now that he's older.

Look how fast the kids grew - I know they are even more grown up now.

They certainly are, I wish I could make them little again.....well, sometimes. :rotfl: You know, I worried about them going and not having a good time because they were older. Mackie was really just the perfect age when we went the first time, but Ty being 14 the first go around I wondered how he'd do. He's such a good sport that he had fun not only then but even when he was 17. :woohoo: He knows how to really get into it the spirit of things and be a kid again. :goodvibes Of course they can be toot's too, but then what kid can't. Especially when you're hot, tired and putting up with crowds. :crowded:
Ty even asked me if I'd take him to WDW when he graduated and do Disney the adult way, in other words he wanted to be able to drink the next time. He saw all the yummy drinks I was getting the last time we went.
Maybe I'll take him during the F&W festival, we'd both have a good time strolling through EPCOT trying all the different foods and drinks together.
I think I may be getting my next trip started!! :woohoo:

I had a record with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo on it and I played it over and over and over...till it got too scratched to play it anymore.

Wow Camille- what a backstory. I know you have struggled and and I also know you have overcome.

So glad to be a part of this epic trip. :cool1:

:goodvibes :thumbsup2 I love that my Disney love started waaaay back into my childhood. I even had a Mickey piggy bank and a stuffed Eeyore. My brother had the Donald piggy bank.

"This is the story of how I died....." It's a good story, so don't think you need to look for another PTR that fast!!

I finally decided it was time to get over here and catch up on your PTR!! So I'm off to do some reading!!

Congrats on the 10 month mark, so excited for you!!!!

BTW great workout today!! See you next week!

Phew! All caught up!

What an inspiring story! As someone that has struggled with weight for most of my life, your story really hit home. I am trying to start the healthier me journey this week so I really appreciate everything you shared.

Love the falling in love with Disney story! I also had Disney records and loved Disney movies. I took my first and only trip to WDW as a kid when I was 14 in 1987. The love turned into obsession when we took Jordan for her first trip in April 2007 at age 3 1/2. Well, everyone can see by my signature what that trip led to - LOL!

Can't wait to read more!

Awww. Thank you.

Falling in love with Disney is always a great story, and the really cool thing about it.....everyone here has their own story!! :cool1:

I've taken entirely too long to get back here and do an update.

But I promise I've been working on one in my head. In fact today I sat down to start it and my computer was running s l o w. :scared:
It was really ticking me off, found out later the protective software was doing a virus run. :rolleyes2

I promise to bring you something soon. :goodvibes

I was a little worried I wouldn't have much to talk about on here after my big stories at first, but my beautiful friend Brook (brookelizabeth) reminded me that there are soooo many other things to post about.....

ADR's, what parks on what days, changes, shoes, bags, sorry guys, you had to know it was coming eventually. ::yes:: Clothes, more clothes, possibly more bags. :rotfl:
Resorts, window decorations, probably more changes, stuffed animals/dolls for the mousekeeping to pose, and on and on!! :cool1:

I think the guys heads are spinning right about now.

I of course will add in as much story as possible and silly other Millieism's. :teeth:

Wow - Camille - what an amazing and inspiring story about your friend's son's suicide, her amazing weight loss, and your weight loss. Congratulations. I am truly amazed by what the human body can due with sheer motivation.

What a great way your DH surprised you with the "lets plan a trip to WDW". My DH was the one to first suggest we go. Little did he know he was going to spark a life time addiction.
