Un-excited about Epcot?

It depends on the person. My DH really likes trying different beers and food items. He could spend most of a day in the World Showcase and not care about rides at all. A person who likes Disney for the rides might be disappointed. Using the sky liner means you will enter at the World Showcase. It would be possible to completely avoid all the construction around the main entrance.

While we enjoy AK, it is probably his least favorite park and the one we tend to leave early.

I'm local and Epcot is my favorite park. It really depends on what you're interested in. I love it because I love the festivals and everything that comes with them and the food. I enjoy the entertainment (even when it's local) And I like all of the rides there. My kids love Epcot, too, so it's not just a park for adults.

I guess it's all perspective, but I don't think the walls and construction are that bad or ruining Epcot. Yes, they're a bit of an eyesore, but they're only at the front of the park and I just don't think it's that big of a deal. However, if you're going into it thinking you will be bored, and World Showcase sounds boring to you, then it might be better for you to skip it.
Yeah honestly Disney does a great job in concealing their construction considering how much is actually going on behind the scenes. :)

We love Epcot always usually spend 2 days and still do not get to see everything. We love most of the rides in FW plus Club Cool where you can taste the Coca Cola from different countries. Food wise enjoy Coral Reef and Space220. In WS we like The Three Caballeros boat ride in Mexico, Remy, the American Adventure attraction, plus the movies in Canada, China, and France (only shown at night now due to Beauty & The Beast Sing-A-Long). We also enjoy just walking around the different countries and our favorite restaurants are Le Cellier, Chefs de France, and Tutto Italia.

I am super excited for Epcot to be done with its construction. Every year Epcot has grown on us more and more.

That is, until last summer. We still love it but it is hard to ignore the construction right now.

For our upcoming eight night trip in July, I have one day at animal Kingdom, two days at Epcot, two days at Hollywood studios, and three days at Magic Kingdom. I am considering moving Epcot to only one day and moving Hollywood studios to three. With the increased cost of the trip, with G+and lack of magical express, I could not justify Park Hopper‘s this year so it is one park park per day.

The reason Epcot has grown on us each year is its atmosphere. It is just a great park to slowly walk around in and soak up the sights and atmosphere. Unfortunately the atmosphere is seriously impacted right now with all the construction walls and those super ugly barges out in the lake.

Hubby & I are staying at Caribbean Beach March 5-7, I mainly chose Epcot because of Skyliner & since we are adults only.

but...

i haven't been to Epcot for about 8 years & i remember being the most bored there, so second guessing myself a bit. Last time I did go with kids, and it was our last park of the trip, so maybe I was just tired? There is of course now Frozen, Remy, it's going to be F&G festival & i am excited for Harmonious!

so...

give Epcot another try, or consider a different park?
Two adults at Epcot. What to do???

If you do it right, it will become your favorite park without ever going on an attraction...

Well Epcot WAS out favorite park (and we do still adore it) but the rat-maze of construction walls made me want to tear my hair out on our trip in December. SO we spent most of our time in World Showcase. We don't drink, so that holds no appeal for us...but we do like to EAT so there is plenty of opportunity for that there. I am very much looking forward to when the construction is done.

For example, when DHS was a land of non-stop construction, we HATED the place. It was at best a half day park. CUrrently, as it is, DHS is now out favorite, especially at the holidays.

We did the Phineas and Ferb activities/scavenger hunt in World Showcase a couple years ago, and - GUYS. It was so fun! I might be taking my cousin, who doesn't like rides, in March for one day. And I know he would have LOVED the Phineas and Ferb thing. Does anyone know if the Duck Tales version is still in the pipeline?

My wife and I don't think Epcot is the best park but there is a lot to see and experience for those of us who are not thrill riders. The festivals are fun. I think the flower & garden festival and the food booths should be interesting. We would go to Animal Kingdom if we had to choose between AK and Epcot but we always go to both. Usually go 1 day at each and park hop a 3rd day between the two. Other people complain about the construction at the front of the park, but we just work around it and focus on what there is to do. Soarin Around the World is great. The movies in Canada, China, and France are interesting and informative. The night fireworks/laser/music is well worth the time. I guess if you are a thrill ride junkie, Epcot would disappoint. It is a tough choice among the parks.

I used to think that - but this past summer it was not working. There was so much construction, and destruction, that there was no way it was able to be hidden. The walls they put up were barren and boring for the most part, and too short to hide the large equipment. Plus, the noise was overwhelming at times. I think the old Future World area is still a hot mess.

My fb is super picky! I sent him tik toks of Epcot and he said so are we just going here to eat? That’s when I was like uh oh LOL

Give it another try. World showcase is my favorite for the shopping, but the park itself has always bored me. It’s my 21yo’s favorite. He thinks I’m nuts. There are better food options now depending on when you go, there can be great options. Flower & Garden and Food & Wine are worth the visit. It’s still #3 on my ranking of the 4 parks. Haven’t done Remy yet, but that won’t bump it over DHS no matter how good it is. The new rides may change that in the coming few years, or not. 🤷‍♀️ Have fun!

DH & I just got back a couple of weeks ago. It was just the 2 of us. We REALLY enjoyed Epcot! We only rode rides the night of the deluxe extra hours. We visited Epcot 3 or 4 times during our 6 day stay. We drank around the world, enjoyed some good food. It was a blast!

Epcot is still a fun park even with all the construction. was just there a few weeks ago. We did buy ILL for Remy for the two of us. Tried a few of the festival foods. Also remember that Epcot currently opens at 10 am so possibly a small relaxing time at your resort before heading to the park (something to consider)

for those that were underwhelmed or disappointed, is there a park you would suggest instead? My hubby has never been to epcot or AK - we did MK and HS both last year, so i was also thinking AK. Could park hop & do both but don't want a fully packed/super early day

Epcot is only a half day park for us. The WS is nice to see, once, but we just don't care to go to Epcot most of the time.
Our favorite park is AK. We love the atmosphere, and there is plenty in AK. The details in every area are amazing. The animals are interesting and fun to see. We like the nature trails with the animals. Also, the safari ride is a must each visit. Expedition Everest is a lot of fun. Our favorite show in all disney is FOLK. I hope they haven't cut too much out of it because it was perfect before. We could just wander around all day at AK. Also Pandora is a must, even though I am too chicken to ride FOP LOL.
So, if you are interested in that kind of thing, you will love it. It is our must-do park, at least 2 times while visiting WDW.

If you can go with PHs I suggest doing that and doing both AK and Epcot. AK opens early and closes early, Epcot opens later and stays open later. There are advantages to both parks and I love them both and would never want to choose between the two.

If you do opt not to go PHs and go AK instead, take the time to go slow and really enjoy the details. There are a number of little side trails that a lot of people don't even notice, I really love the one around the Tree of Life. While there are rides, it isn't any more ride heavy then Epcot is. The street entertainment is slowly coming back, to both parks, so don't pass it by.

If you decide to PH, go to AK at early resort guest hours and hop on FoP then. After you have knocked that out go to Safari, it's better in the early hours. Then do some trails, ride the rest of the rides you are interested in and grab a table at Nomad Lounge and relax over a few small plates and a refreshing adult beverage. Then hop over to Epcot. Enjoy wandering around F&G booths snacking along the way, you could make that your evening meal. All the countries have little hidden away parts that are fun to explore. Go into the shops in all the countries. Don't dismiss the non-thrill rides like Living with the Land, it's a favorite of ours. Yes, the front of the park has construction walls but I don't think there is ever a time when the parks don't have construction walls. I don't mind them and they don't really take anything away from the park for me.

thanks everyone for you input! i decided on AK - such a hard choice, especially with being at a skyliner resort, but there will be future trips to go to epcot :) may take the skyliner over to riviera or pop, just to ride on it LOL

I haven't been to Riviera, but POP is fun if you like to take pictures. - The big icons make for cool shots!

Epcot is much better these days, IMO, if you enter through International Gateway and don’t have construction as your first and last experience of the park.

I agree with this. For sure.

However, there’s typically not much choice. Those entering from the international Gateway are those that either came in on the skyliner or from one of the other resorts near that entrance. It’s pretty difficult to get to that entrance from any other resort.

Having said that, we were staying at the Boardwalk last summer so we just walked over to that entrance and you really didn’t know any construction was going on until you got past the lake and made your way to Futureworld. Then *bam* walls. Really wasn’t a deal breaker though.

If it is your first time it kind of stinks because you don’t know what it was like without walls. (But the temporary walls will be worth it for what is to come I’m sure).

On the other hand the very front entrance of Epcot is light years above what it was just a couple of years ago. It is back to BEAUTIFUL. Our very first trip to Disney was in 2010 and the first thing I noticed upon walking up to Epcot was “This is Disney? This is stark”. Those monoliths upfront were a terrible eyesore. They blocked a lot of the entrance and just felt “cold”. (and in the summer, somehow even hotter if that even makes sense 😂)
