Ultimate Planning spreadsheet for the iPad *pdf files coming soon*

Thanks Mike. I'm addicted already. I love budget.

I have a question about the DDP tab. I can't get it to calculate the child table serve credits properly. No matter how many children I say I have, it only counts credits for one child. I've looked at the formula, but I'm stumped. Any advice?

Thanks again for sharing your work.

You are correct. You should get a prize or something for finding the first bug.

I only have 1 kid so did not notice the error.

It will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks

Mmmm. Prize. That would be an all-expense-paid trip to the WL for 4 in 2012, right?

Happy to help. I'm having fun playing with this.

Would that not be great? lol,

Ok, so I am going to push everyone a fixed copy of 1.1 out right now.

I am working on a Dining cost planner right now and it might take me some time before its ready to go, so I don't want people to have to wait for the fix.

Check your email everyone.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: GreaT work :thumbsup2 disregard the thumbs down don't know why it won't go away....I think the spreadsheets are fantastic

I need a favor from someone in the U.S.A. please. I have been told that it shows CA for Canadian dollars for people. I want to fix this but I have no idea what it looks like because it does not show up for me. I think it might have to do with the fact that I am in Canada.

Please take a screen shot of your budget tab and post it so I can take a look. I will try and have this fix for the next version.

Thanks all.

Mike

I also just pm'd you Mike.
This file looks amazing!

Hi all. To change the currency status, highlight the boxes that show CAD $
Next go up to the info select at the top of the page (the lower case i in the circle). From there select format. Here you will see currency......press the blue arrow and next select the Canadian Dollar row. Once you have done that you will have the option to show any currency you want. Hope that helps!

That is indeed how to do it. But it's a pain for people to change every cell on every page. It will also break some calculations unless you change every cell in that calculation. I don't recommend people new to numbers/excel attempt this.

Geodoc, being in Canada yourself was your file formatted correctly with just a $?

I'm thinking about making 2 copy's of the file, one for Americans, and one for us Canucks.

Unfortunately I can't just put a generic $.

Thats to bad. Think about all the money you could have saved by only feeding one. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Glad it fixed the problem for you.

Hi Mike

My copy is showing the CAD$ label. Now realize.....this is just a label.....you can ignore it if needed and assume a dollar is a dollar.

Geodoc

Oops I also meant to add that our US friends can make changes to the entire column by highlighting one cell then dragging your finger to encompass the column. You can then do the steps in my previous post and all cells will change the currency label. I think it should leave the calculations as is

Mike,

I PM'ed you. Thanks for your work. This really looks nice.

I just got the numbers app & started messing with your spreadsheet!!
It's AWESOME!!! :worship:
Now, if I could just figure out how to use it, lol....
But I didn't get the update, so can you please send whenever you have a minute? (email is blueyedwench@aol.com)

Thanks again!!!!!

Seemed to work, after I figured out the correct order to proceed. I found that if I didn't do things a certain way, all my calculations were screwy.

Mike,

What a great effort! Turns out that there isn't much I can use, as I'm so late in my trip, and I've used TripIt to keep track of many of the travel and itinerary details. I did borrow your ideas for the dining plan credit calculator, however. (There's only two of us, so my table is much simpler.)

One thing I do have is a packing checklist. Just a list of things to remember to buy / pack. I also have a table with travel times from our resort to various locations (cribbed from the Ultimate Guide to WDW).

I did use your ideas to help pretty mine up, though. I hadn't realized that Numbers had so many great formatting options until I started digging. I guess that's the trick with context-sensitive menus.

Let me know if you'd like to see mine, and I'd be happy to send it over. And thanks again for sending it to me!

(Side note: I would love it if Apple added the ability to add drop-shadows to text. Would make it so much easier to actually read text overlaid on a photo.)

Geodoc

Right, its just a label and has no effect on exchange or anything. That's not the issue. The issue will become apparent when you fill in the tables. You can see from my screen shots that I formatted the tables to use just $. When you add the extra characters, (CA$, US$) it will cause visual problems. You will get clipping of the numbers in some cases. The fix for this would be to change the font size or change the cell size or change the currency to your home currency. I don't want people to have to "fix" there spreadsheet to get it look as I intended it to look.

It confuses me that you get the CA$ label being your located in Canada. I do not get the CA in my file. Are any other Canadians having this issue?

Regardless, I have a fix for this for next release. I will be changing the format to use US Dollars. This way I will have the label constantly and can adjust the table formatting accordingly.

You can select multiple cells in one table, but from what I understand you cant do it across tables or tabs. This is what I meant by making people do it "cell by cell".

There are at least 2 calculations in the budget tab that reference the overview tab. If you don't change all the associated currency you will get an error.

Just remember people, there is an undo button so play around with it if you can't wait for my fix.
