Is the discount available through VClub the best when checking in? Also....when I spoke to DVC they said something about dropping either the arrival or departure day from the price....for example 5 night hopper for price of 4 nights? Is this true...

Technially a Length of Stay Pass (by any other name) is just that. DVC has been lenient in dropping the first and/or last day so you were not paying for partial days. For a 5 night stay you would only get the 4 full days and therefore pay for the 4 days only (3 nights). You would then get the 10% member discount if you do it when you check in at the DVC resort.

No, if you drop one day from your hopper, you get one less day's admission to the parks.
