Uh Oh! HoJo changes....help me plz!

But I will say that they appear to have made changes to their cancellation policy again. I was told that as long as I cancel 30 days prior to arrival date then there is NO charge. This contradicts the policy listed in their website. Can anyone confirm this? I think I might call them again to make sure....

I'm not sure where the post is right now, but Kriss from Hojos recently verified that if the reservation is made over the phone with in-house reservations, you can cancel 30 days prior to your arrival date with no charge. If you book online, then the cancellation policy listed on their website will be the one that is applicable. Hope this helps. :)

I have found out that you have to call the hotel directly to reserve the King suite, or the Queen suite. I just booked it for my cousin for next summer, and the price was around $223 a night or so. I booked a Kids suite for us for $203 I think. These are summer rates. Of course I will keep checking for a lower rate. This was with the Mousesavers discount.

Just booked my ENT/Retro rate at HoJo's & found out they changed how they categorize the King rooms. Typically we stay in a what was once called a standard King in building 2. The rate has ALWAYS been $59/night.

They are now calling these rooms deluxe because they have a microwave & face the pool. They are charging $79/night do that's up $20! Looked on their website & I didn't see anything that lists the NK1 as being "deluxe".

My dilemma is that we like the quiet of building 2 & location to the garden pool. I can do without the micro, so I'm not worried about that. However, I watched the YouTube vids & the deluxe queen rooms have the Dreamscape bedding. Since Ive never stayed in anything but a "deluxe" I can't compare. How are the beds in a standard king? Does the Dreamscape bedding really make a difference? Also, where in Building 1 are the King rooms located?

I'm wondering if I should just spring for the extra $20/night so we can stay where we usually do??? But I'm a little ticked that HoJo made the change & didn't state anything on their website. I had no idea until I called to book & now I'm all mixed up! Ugh! Thoughts?

Where or how do you get those low prices? When I go to their website the lowest price I see is $169:confused3

We have gone to DL more times than I can remember (I'm getting old) and stayed at many different motels/hotels. But once we stayed at HoJo, we never even considered staying anywhere else, no matter what the cost (paying $179 for our room this summer).
We do have our favorite rooms and ask for them when we register. And we only deal with HoJo directly.

No kidding! even w/ the 15% discount I was only able to get a double room for 152 per night . Granted its during July which is a peak time but I'm a little ticked to pay $100 more per night for peak :(

My happiest Place:
Don't feel bad. Those entertainment rates (retro rates) aren't available for July or August. They aren't even available for the dates I want in September and I've been watch for months:(, so I'm not going to pay that much to stay there w/no breakfast and only a double queen room. I'm paying $126/nt plus tax at the Embassy for a king suite w/sofa in the living room, (with micro and fridge) and made to order hot breakfasts daily. I know we have to take the shutttle, but the money we are saving and the bfast alone are worth it. I can't pass up that deal:)

Thank you ALL!!!:cheer2:

I've been sick and away from the boards for a few days, so I'm just now reading through these posts- very helpful!!

DH & I talked about it and he wants to stay where we always stay, so that's a King in building 2 overlooking the pool. He's not a fan of change!

We stay at the HoJo for the low rates AND the pirate themed water park for our son. Those are the only 2 reasons we stay time and time again. In beginning to plan for our trip, we had initially wanted to go in mid-late Sept. HoJo is pretty much sold out for that time frame and of course the ENT rates are long gone. So I did look for another hotel near Disney that had a kids water play area so that I could price compare. What I found was that the Hilton Anaheim is the ONLY other hotel besides the HoJo to have one of these. They did have rooms available for the mid-late Sept time frame for under $150 & they are a FULL service hotel. So I have to be honest in saying that if the price were about the same (and for Sept it was) between Hilton & HoJo and they both have a kids water play area...I would probably lean more towards the Hilton. IMO, $150/night for a basic hotel which is what the HoJo is....is just way too much. Sorry Hojo :sad1:

But as I mentioned previously....we are on a budget. So $150/night for any hotel was out of the question. Thus, we changed our dates to Nov to take advantage of the ET rates at the HoJo.:thumbsup2

Oh...and Kriss, this helps greatly, thanks!!;)

While I have you here, can I suggest that you edit your website to incorporate the price changes? It was quite the shock to learn that the room type we always stay in had jumped by $20/night. We so love staying at your hotel and the ET/Retro rates are a fabulous deal! But it just would have been nice to know the accurate price before calling to make a reservation, KWIM?;)

NannyZ- I'm curious to know what your favorite rooms are? Since you love HoJo so much (and we do too!!) that you would pay almost $200/night for a basic hotel...I'm curious what makes you love it so? From one Hojo fan to another;)

Oops...forgot to ask...why does the standard 2Queens in bldg 1 have a micro but the standard King in bldg 1 doesn't??

In comparing your rooms the only differences that I've found between the standard & deluxe are the lack of microwave & the location. Your YouTube videos say that the deluxe rooms also have Dreamscape bedding but when I called directly, your front desk said all rooms have the same bedding. Can you confirm this? I've also found out from the boards here that you've made some changes to building 1 so that it's more soundproof. And I've heard whispers that the deluxe rooms have flat screen tvs while the standard do not...but that's not a concern for us.;)

A couple things to consider when comparing these hotels. Parking at the Hilton is an additional $16-22 per day. HoJos is easy walking distance. Looking at the isolated dump bucket Hilton offers, I'd have to give the nod to the water feature at HoJos.

The walking distance aspect is key for my family. The last thing I want to do is worry about transportation before and after going to the park and midday trips back to the hotel are no brainers when it's a 7-8 minute walk.

Definately! Good points and something to consider. But for every plus for the HoJo, there's a plus for the Hilton. For example, Starbucks is a huge bonus for me!:thumbsup2 I guess it just all comes down to each family.

I have to agree that the water feature at Hojo looks lots better then the one at the Hilton. I looked through all the pictures on tripadvisor and didn't see any chairs or umbrellas set up for parents to watch their kiddos- I like that the HoJo has this! We also like the location of the HoJo. So that's really why we ended up changing our dates so we could go to the HoJo & get the ET rates.

But if I were not able to change dates & I was looking at spending roughly the same price, I would definately give the Hilton a try. What one lacks the other makes up for and vice versa, KWIM?

I would be curious to hear if anyone has stayed at both, paid about the same and which they liked better.;)

Rates are always pretty high in the summer and with CL opening this summer is no exception. If anything, it's worse and there's little to no relief price wise anywhere. Especially anywhere within walking distance.

I'm staying in a two queen in building 2 overlooking the pool. We stayed there two years ago, love pretty much everything about the place including our room location so we booked up the same room class this year.

With taxes I believe we're paying an average of $170/night. We added two nights at a higher rate last month or else I think we'd be averaging $164. We initially booked in August. It does sting a bit paying that much when I've paid much less for a much better room elsewhere, but when considering location, water park, location, laundry facility, free parking, and location it works for us even at this price.

That Starbucks will taste good on the shuttle bus. :rotfl2: Oh, I'm kidding. You're right, everyone must prioritize and do what makes sense for their family. Have a good trip in November.

LOL!:rotfl: Oh too funny!!!

I have to say that I would really have a hard time paying almost $200 for location and waterpark even in summer/high season.

On our very first trip with DS, we had to change our dates from low season Fall to mid August last minute due to a family member's illness. While we really wanted to stay at the HoJo, I just could NOT justify this price. Because we were booking fairly last minute we didn't have time to book early and save. So of course all the hotels along the "strip" were summer rates over $125/night and up!

We have family in the area we were visiting so for us it made sense to go a bit further out. We ended up near Santa Ana (about a 15 minute drive to Anaheim) in a nice suite w/full hot breakfast all for $89/night in high season. Since we got our park tickets through AAA, we also got free parking at DLR. And I did stop at the Starbucks on my way in and you're right...it did taste great on the parking lot shuttle!!
