Ugh, time to renegotiate Sirius XM radio

Thanks, I'll definitely ask for it! The last rep I spoke to (5monts ago), was great, so much depends on who you end up speaking with-

I have the $25 for 5 months deal, and have for a while. I call the day before it expires and ask to cancel the service. Rep asks why, I say it's too expensive. She asks me if I'm canceling because it's too expensive & I say yes. That usually fast tracks it to the $89/year offer, which I decline and then to the $25 for 5 months. I used to do a song and dance about cutting my budget, it's too much, blah blah ... but I find if I say it's very expensive or it's too expensive right off the bat, that's the green light for the rep to go to the specials.

I'm sure there's not any rhyme or reason to their retention, but it works for me. LOL

$20 plus fees for five months. They tried to do one year at $99. Still too much and came back with that offer.

I completely canceled it about 2 months ago and a $20 for 5 months, no activation fee, no contract deal just came in the mail today.

Do they offer when you only threaten to bag the Internet add on? I love XM and am keeping my car radio. The Internet app portion I rarely use.

My free service is up in a few days, can't believe we've had our Jeep for a year, I got something like 6 months $29 or one year $99.

May just get the one year. To cancel you have to call and I hate having to call anyone. even before I pick up the phone I expect to get ripped off.

I call them when it comes up and negotiate. I refuse to be ripped off. By taking a year for $99, you are being ripped off. I tell them I am not paying more than the current $25 for 5 months. I will cancel if they say no but it works every time.

The $99 per year offer tends to be for the All Access package, which includes internet and app listening (as well as some additional channels in the car). I found it to be an acceptable offer for my listening preferences. It's possible I could have gotten it a little lower- I'm not sure. I'm in the minority I think, but I like the service enough to not always threaten to cancel after I hear a decent offer.

WOW! learned so much from this thread I just activated my free 2 month trial, when it's over I will be better prepared thanks to you guys!

Are they still doing the $25 deal? Some posts say five months while some say six. Anyone know which it would be now? My free service expires next month.

Mine was 5 months. My total bill came to $33. I did not want to give them my credit card and wanted to be invoiced and I had to pay an extra $3.00 fee for invoicing. I think it is bogus that they charge your credit card with out invoicing.

6 months, 50.00 for the full package is what I just got. The offered 6 months for 25 for the basic as well.

I got six for $25 earlier this month, if I remember correctly. The guy told me the deal changes every week. I don't know if he was telling me the truth or not. When I called I told him I wanted the deal and he told me that I did not qualify, so I told him I would cancel (we have 2 radios) and he gave me a long song and dance and I kept saying, that's fine, just cancel me if you can't give me the deal and he put me on hold and made me wait a while and came back and told me yes. I was totally prepared to cancel, I've done it before and I know they will be emailing me within a week with the deal.

You do have to be kind of persistent.

We will definitely try this. Thanks!

just renegotiated a couple of weeks ago. the rep actually said this time that she could see I had the special ... let's see if we can renew, and she did. very easy. I assume that every time I call will be the last time that they offer the special & am pleasantly surprised when it isn't. And for me, it's not even a fib. I couldn't or wouldn't pay full price for satellite radio. It is definitely a luxury item.

They can do a one-time charge to your card and not keep it on file. They will state this (and I also restate it -- that I authorize a one-time charge only) while recording the conversation. I also call back about 2 weeks later just to make sure my credit card is not on file. I think you can also check that online now.

Do not put it on your credit card.. They will then just charge your card like $88 when your time is up. Then you have with dealing with getting your money back. Getting a $25 rate. You are in a much better place when you have to pay them. Like if you don't get a deal you will canceled. I sold a car with XM so I canceled that radio. They mail me better deals on the radio I don't have then the one I use. Like a year after the car was sold still getting offers to turn on that radio.

My car was purchased in March and my 'free trial' is still going on. I keep waiting to get the email or letter in the mail but nothing so far. And it just keeps going and going and going.....

Check your credit card; they may just be billing you. I think I had to add a credit card on file to start the free trial.
