Ugh, time to renegotiate Sirius XM radio

I bought my new car (my very first brand new car!) in May and had a free trial. The trial expired and I'vebeen receiving renewal offers almost on a weekly basis! The most recent is a 'Select subscription' for 6 moths at $30. My question is, what is a 'Select Subscription' and are there other subscriptions available?

I just got a lifetime subscription. Don't have to worry about it

Go on their website and check out the packages - Select has most of the channels, but not app or computer use. All Access has everything and Basic has "some" channels.

Congratulations on you car! So exciting.

Ours is up Dec. 15th, I just checked. I won't be renewing unless I get the $25 deal. My car has blutooth and Pandora is free.

They gave me $99 for the year but said my DH's radio wasn't compatible with that offer! Thinking about using Pandora, but how much data does that use? Any idea?

Just remember that unless you have unlimited data that streaming uses a lot up.

Yeah, it isn't that much, we have 15gb plus 10gb rollover if we have extra (so far we have always had extra). I will monitor it though.

So I called them the day after mine expired. I told them that I would only renew if I could get the special that my "friends" were getting. He asked what was the special. I told him six months for $25. He said ok and signed me up. I did have to give a credit card to automatically renew, but I set an alarm on my phone to call back the day before I get charged! Good luck all.

You can actually call back and remove your credit card at any time. And I think you can actually do it online now (you couldn't in the past but I think that changed a year or two ago). Also, you can request that it only be a one-time charge and that they not keep your card number on file.

Has anyone had any luck adding the app subscription for a minimal cost? I got a month free and love having access to XM at home, but I will not pay $20 a month to have access to the app.

Yes. The way I did it was to to first say I was going to cancel. That's always the crucial first step, whenever you want to change your plan in any way.

Then, when speaking to the retention rep, I said the only thing I was interested in was the All-Access plan, which includes streaming. They offered a year of All-Access for around $100 (at this moment I forget the exact amount, but it was roughly half price).

I love the streaming. Honestly, I think it's the future business plan of SiriusXM.

XM is really making you jump through hoops to get the promotional rates now. Multiple holds, multiple questions. They do it in the end, but they waste your time doing so...

seemed like last year I had to jump through hoops-a couple of days ago I got it done in less than 5 minutes.

called 2 days before my annual renewal date (I pay by check so they don't have credit card to charge) and just said I wanted to cancel-they asked why so I told them I didn't want to pay what they were asking for. they asked if I was willing to renew for the same "promo" rate I got last year-I said 'sure' and it was a done deal.

I could get better rates if I did less than a year at a time but I don't like having to do this pricing dance with them-they originally wanted $273 for a year of all access and a year of travel link, I will instead be paying $149.

I just called and got another 5 months at $25.

I didn't know about the $99 with streaming, maybe next time. Right now, I don't need it and honestly, using Pandora at home and work is fine.

I don't know, DH used it at work as they didn't allow streaming music on their servers. It still never got to 2gb/mo.
