Ewwww yuck, but yes it goes along the same lines as my family. We travelled outside of the US once & everyone recommended we get food from this "food van" on the side of the road. Well when we got there, the van had been out for hours, in the blazing hot sun, with no refridgeration or AC or ice. The food was stored in these big metal pans covered with foil. I was NOT getting the pork or potato salad, I was NOT gonna do it. After watching about 20 other locals order & eat the same thing, I figured "when in Rome...." It was the best darn pork & potato salad I ever ate, and no one got sick!
Even though I grew up where we didn't refridgerate much meat or dairy (milk came straight from the cow to the table - and sat out all day) - I am very picky about my meat & dairy as an adult. I barely eat at buffets or picnics when I don't know how long something's been sitting out!
