uggh....vent about hubby!....UPDATE

Somebody's allowing a phone call...probably a "mistake", to come between two people who love each other. What power!!!!

This is one of those things in marriage that has to be handled carefully. The motives of the person calling could range from intending a harmless joke to trying to cause trouble between you and hubby.

I would back down in my indignation the next time I spoke to my dh. I'd let him know I'd rethought it and even though I know I'm completely innocent I can put myself in his place and see where he feels upset by the message. Then I'd do the three way call thing.

If it all a big joke you'll likely find out who did it and that will be the end. No harm, no foul, everyone gets a little laugh and you move on. If you get a dead end then I would be on the lookout for more incidents, and I would start looking around at people with a motive to cause trouble in my marriage.

well my husband never did call me all day but he just got home from work. I immediatly grabbed his phone so I could listen to the message.
It was a VERY nasty message and he does say my first name. a number showed up on caller id and he repeated that same number TWICE in the message. I ask my dh if he's called the number yet and he said no, so i decided to call. It's a POLICE STATION!!!!!! WhiteHill's police department
I push buttons to talk to the srgt. He gets on the phone and I tell him about the phone call I received from there. He said I am the THIRD person to call regarding this! All within an hour's time frame. I let him listen to the message and he just amazed on how this person did this. He said the same thing on all of our voicemails! He pulled up every single phone call around that time frame, and nothing! He said he thinks someone somehow hacked into there sytem and is making there number pull up. I told the SGT that the cell phone is in my husbands name and that it does not say my name on the message. He is as shocked as I am. He has already sent this to a detective and he wants me to save my message just in case t hey can use it.
My husband was mowing grass when I called. I went out there and told him about it and when I was finished talking, he said nothing and just continued mowing.. :furious:
I told him I have the sgt direct line and he is more then welcome to call him if he don't believe me!

Well the SGT just called me back asking if I worked in accounting or anything (i'm a SAHM). I guess the other woman work in some kind of accounting but it just doesn't match up. I guess I just have to wait for another phone call saying he caught this sicko!!!!!

Geez, what a mess! I'm sorry that your DH is doubting you. Hopefully he will call the detective back and start believing you.

I would be so hurt if my DH doubted me for a second. Geez. If the situation were reversed I would call the number as OP did and find out who it is. The whole police thing seems odd. Maybe you have a stalker ? I would change my number.Good luck!

It could be a friend or acquantience using something like Spoofcard
http://www.spoofcard.com/

wonder if you and the other 'victims' know anyone in common?

My first thought was that it was a prank by one of your DH's buddies. Certain guys do that sort of thing sometimes and everybody's supposed to laugh about it in the end. :sad2:

But now that you've found out other people are involved, and hacking into a police phone system? Either some kid with too much time on his hands, or something creepier! The fact that the caller knew your name really creeps me out! I hope the police can figure out who did it.

DH's initial reaction is understandable, but after you researching and finding out it's now a police matter, he needs to lighten up and realize this has nothing to do with you being unfaithful or even thinking along those lines! Continuing that attitude is going to create a problem.

Hubby is acting like an idiot, but he's probably embarrassed about his earlier reaction.

Let him alone for a bit.

Wow! Sorry you're going through this. It's high time your DH stopped sulking and showed you some support.

No offence, but it is kinda funny that of all places to hack into the moron who called you chose a *police station*. It's like that 'dumbest criminals' show, can't remember the name of it, but really they're just asking to be caught.

I hope your DH chills out soon and realises that you've done nothing wrong.

:grouphug: Ahh..Tara, hang in there. Once DH comes in and has a shower and some dinner and winds down maybe the two of you can talk about this quietly and with understanding on both parts. (i.e. why DH was so upset!)

You know this is exactly why this country is so worried and hung up on Identity Fraud. Here it is Labor Day, Monday, Tara calls her DH (innocently) to see what he wants to do after he is done with work and him receiving this stupid PRANK call has them both so upset with each other and the whole situation. :sad2:

Tara, I certainly hope the Police can shed some light on this whole situation for you AND sooner than later. I am just surprised the Police cannot zoom in better with that time frame to figure out who was mis-using their phones and make these UPSETTING calls to different families out there. :sad2:

Tara, keep us posted! :grouphug:

Well I've talked to the SGT again and a detective. They were wanting info on the phone we are using. They are just trying to find any kind of connection whatsoever to me and the others who got the call. The SGT said that the FBI is already on it also! They are really trying to figure this out. I would hope so though, because that's scary thinking someone hacked into there system!
My husband has calmed down. I walked outside when he was done mowing with the phone in tow. I handed it to him and started reading off the police stations number. He said "what?" I said I want you to call the SGT yourself. He said "i believe you" I think he just needed time to think about it. Thank you all for all your advice! i will keep you updated, as the sgt updates me.

Please do! I'm so excited to hear if the prank caller gets caught, and who it might be?! And why they did such a terrible thing to you and others?

My fingers are crossed that it's just a prank and nothing dangerous, and that they catch the guy.

I work in the telephone business and this is a weird one! I know that for YEARS prisoners call businesses and say they are from XYZ Telephone Company and are working on the lines and ask to be transfered to an out going line... if someone does get to that outgoing line... then the call will register from that place and be charged to that place. Maybe they did that... happens all the time. But I would make sure to tell that info to the Sgt and ask if anyone had a call like that there. It really is easy to do. I would also check out spoofcard.com type things , and let the Sgt now the exist. I never heard of them before :confused3 BUT, I do not think they can tap into the Police's dial tone physically? if so, then thats real bad for them!

This may sound strange but did you actually make sure it was an actual police station?

For some reason, it just sounded kind of odd for the Sgt. to tell you the FBI was involved.

:confused3 :grouphug:

That made me wonder, too.

Maybe because it involved the police (assuming it was the police...)? :confused3

Yes,
actually the first time I called, I was like no way, this is bull. So I went to yellow pages dot com and did a reverse look up, sure enough, the police station!
As far as the FBI thing goes....I was at a cookout and my husband took the call. I'm even beginning to think he (my dh) got the FBI confused with something else...what the something else is, I have NO idea!
