:rotfl:

Actually, DD & DS babysat over night for us, while DH & I met 4 other couples for dinner AND.... a sleep over in a hotel. :) Between the 10 of us we loss 6 parents & we all were very close friend with "Uncle Frank"(whose birthday would have been this month). So, this is how we decided to remember them.
Dinner was very comical. One of the guys was about 2 hours late due to work, then what should have been a 1 1/2 hour ride that turned into 3 hours. So, when he walked in,...well let's just say we had already begun to indulge in appetizers and beverages. :woohoo::woohoo:But, what was funny, in an odd kinda way, is when the waitress sat us she asked what we were celebratin. How would YOU answer that. We all kinda looked at her with this blank expression. Finally someone said "Friendship". We had so many laughs. The kind that when you stop your stomach hurts. One of the guys said his cheeks hurt.

Now, I have to spend time with the little one as she is feeling very neglected. We were on our way home on our 1 1/2 hour ride when DD called my cell phone crying uncontrollably. Apparently, her siblings were "treating her like a dog". (Of course OUR dog, that would be much like a king, but I didn't go there under the circumstances.). All, because she didn't want to do her homework. Well, it is the beginning of April vacation. I wouldn't want to either. That was cleared up quickly. Thing is DD usually comes right in and does her homework. I think she was just missing Mommy. DH & I have only spent a grand total of 2 nights away alone in 22 year. Maybe we should do it more often, to get DD used to it?!

Anyway, I will catch up later. Thanks for thinking of me.:goodvibes

How wonderful a night with GROWNUPS to celebrate LIFE :thumbsup2 a wonderful thing to do

AND you'll be happy to know that I am looking forward to DH coming home for a 3 day lay over from the road AND we are going to WDW last weekend of Flower & Garden, ADR for Germany dinner and I will be rolled around like a queen on a throne ..a time of renewal ..long overdue.....;) plus a honey-do list as long as his arm..simple things I can't do right now and he can handle :rotfl: (change a ceiling light bulb etc)

Oh the story of being treated like a dog brought back a LOT of memories of me being the oldest & in charge and parents going out...good times

So glad that you got time away to enjoy your friends and DH!!!! Poor DD!!! (although I had to laugh at your dog comment and agree with it.....most doggies I know are treated like little royalty) Have a great weekend!!!

I agree with Ruthie - how wonderful to celebrate friendship and life! Both well deserved!

Ruthie - I think it's wonderful that DH is going to roll you around like a queen - you deserve it after these last few months of pain. I am looking forward to hearing about it. :beach:

And poor dd - I hope that she was able to "pay them back" :joker:

I was the youngest & only girl. So, I can't relate to babysitting. But, I remember more than once being sent to my room, so the older siblings can watch what they wanted on tv.

I am so happy you & your DH are going to get some time together & you being spoiled. If you have not been in a wheel chair & he is not used to pushing one.... I have 1 recommendation remind him ever so tenderly, that your view is not the same as his. DH had a tendency to face me against a wall or chair or whatever. He could see fine. I could see nothing. Also, if you stay back from the crowd a little you are less likely to know what type of under pants they where. :rotfl2: I always crack up at people who decide to "adjust" with my face right at their..... tush level. If they only realized I was there. :lmao: Enjoy the time together. Good luck with DH getting the honey dew list done. Please try to take lots of pictures (this also needs to be adjusted for the view in the chair). I love to see the pictures from the flower & garden. We have never been. Although, that is a YET for me. :)
Yes, we were very fortunate to be able to do this mini trip. I truly love these friends and would count on them for anything, but especially alot of laughs.

Thanks it really was a nice time with friends I we are truly blessed to have. DD bounced back fairly well. I really think it was more missing me than anything else.

Trust me, she is none the worse for the wear. I really it was more that she was having mommy withdrawls than anything else. She even admitted when I got home that it was probably 1/2 her fault. I spoke to the older siblings also, but I figure if she is admitting to 1/2 of the fault.... could be a little more than 1/2. ;);)

D~

After spending what we did on dinner & the hotel room with this recent mini trip, I think we are going to have to cut back on some of our TS meals. I was already considering it. I may wait until a little closer to our trip, in the hopes of saving enough to not have to. However, I don't have high hopes since I have to cover the expense of the larger room(s), and this mini trip. We'll see how well I can save.

So glad you were able to book the 2 bedroom and also be waitlisted for the last day. So happy for you that it worked out. :) HOpefully now you are able to get that last day.

OMG! ROFL!!! Seriously - if I could get off this computer, I could probably afford to go to Disney every other month. :rolleyes1

Now, that's a thought to ponder... :scratchin

D~

Things are looking good :cool1: It will all work out in the end

You know we're laughing about the electricity thing BUT my bill came down about $25.00 - $30.00 a month after talking to a kind electric company customer service rep who taught me We have SO many things plugged in that we aren't even aware of that are sucking up power when not being used, bedside lamps, toaster, microwave, washer dryer, TV you walk around your house you'll be shocked, she even told me if not home why heat water all day, I shut the breaker off to the electric H2O heater if I'm gone all day and put it back on when I get home :thumbsup2 every penny saved =Disney $$$ :)

I just realized I had never commented on these remarks. Sorry...my mind....now what was it I was going to say about my mind....:rotfl2:

D~ I am very happy the 2 bedroom worked out and if the waitlist doesn't come through I don't think it will be that bad. Hopefully, our 2 bedrm will just be a matter of them unlocking the door that seperates a studio and 1 bedrm. That way we won't have to move anything.

It is funny how quickly electric & water bills can add up. We had a hot water tank leaking. Long story short water bill cost over $400! and our sewer bill is based on water consumption so that is about the same. The water guys that came out to double check our meter (that gives you an idea of how outrageous it was compared to our usual consumption), suggested we talk to the people at the water dept. But, honestly, we got our tax return, and we happen to have the money. It was our own fault, why should the town have to absorb the expense because of our stupidity. So, we will pay it.

Ruthie, I would love to unplug my tv & other large appliance, but with my family everyone is in and out at different times. So, we would spend all day plugging in and out the stuff. I am diligent about not keeping toaster, phone chargers, coffee makers, stuff like that plugged in. I have a gf that uses those plug in freshners. It is one of her couponing bargains. Which I love that she gets them for free, but I keep reminding her that she is paying for the electricity to keep it plugged in. Now she unplugs them and plugs them back in I think.

I might not be on as much, as there is little changing at this point. Plus, I am going to have to start planning what to do about DS's graduation. But, I will be bouncing in to keep up with all of you. :)

I have to add this picture from our night with "the gang". Any of you that have read my TR from our 30th anniversary trip will probably remember all the attention my DH and my BF's DH got for the anniversary buttons when I and DDBF weren't around.
Well, somehow the other night it was "couples picture time" and I was off chatting with the girls. Well the next thing I know I have this picture on my camera.

DDBF & I got laughing so hard. Then we commenced sharing the vacation story. Well.... it's a wonder we didn't get kicked out.

I hate the way most movies do the Boston accent. Most of us DO NOT speak like the Kennedys.:laughing:

I don't have any updates. The next update will most likely be in about 10 days. DDBF is in Japan at the moment. He is a blackbelt. I thought level 5, but was recently told he will be taking his level 4 while he is there. He is with his karate school teacher & a couple other students. It is a wonderful opportunity for him & we are all very pleased for him. But, DD has been a bit of a stick in the mud since he left. Anyway after he gets home he & DS will decide where they want to stay.

:offtopic:Simply an update to say my heart goes out to all who have suffered heartbreak from yesterdays bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I am very very grateful not to have had any loved ones at that point in the Marathon. Although 2 of my children attend college in Boston neither were there. And their friends/classmates that were there were not injured physically. They were extremely shaken by the events as some of them were close by. Hours after the event DS#2 held a dear friend in his arms as she sobbed uncontrollably. They are seeking the professionals they need to talk this thing out. We were able to visit with my son today in Boston. The city that is usually a buzz with activity, was somber today...quiet. Please, as I'm sure so many of you already are, continue to pray for all those victims, medical personal, emergency personal, investigators, law enforcement and all others who will have a long road ahead of them. Please may true justice be done.

For those of you who don't know, yesterday was a Massachusetts holiday. Patriots Day. To remember those men that fought for the Revolutionary War. The battles of Lexington & Concord, the shot heard round the world. The first battle of the Revolutionary War. Both towns are still functioning towns. It is one of many landmarks that make Bostonian's proud to be American & Bostonian's. Plymouth Plantation, the Mayflower, Salem Witch Trials, Boston Commons, The Freedom Trail, Olde North Church, Fanuel Hall, Lexington Concord, Scituate where the Bates sister are said to have scared off an army of Britts by banging pots & pans together, Gloucester. MA holds much history of our country. Some good, some bad. I pray yesterday will only be remembered as a day heroes emerged, angels were made, but evil did not win. That Boston & it's marathon will rise up as a Phoenix from the ash of evil.

Everywhere you go around the city and in the suburbs around where I live, you hear voices praising other communities for their support. NY our sport rival offering prayers and support. New Orleans. Atlanta. All having had their share of heart ache. They are reaching out to us, and it is not going unappreciated. This Bostonian thanks you all so very much. You hear it in their voices. I have seen what appear to be the toughest of men, with tears in their eyes as they see prayers on the side of buildings. Prayers for our victims. Bostons victims. From those cities that have experienced horror. Thank you.
