Okay folks... for those of you who watch Seinfeld, I'm sure you're familiar with "The Summer of George"... well, here at Disney Transport, this is "The Summer of Change." There will be many, many changes to service this summer. Some will remain after the summer crowds, others will go back to normal.

  • Character Breakfast Buses will no longer be called Character Breakfast Buses. Park buses will still run starting at 7:15am to take guests to thier breakfasts. Actual arrival time may vary. Instead of saying "Character Breakfast" they will display the name of the park area in which they service. (A side note: I had to go through quite a few hoops to find the official answer to this one. WDW-RIDE, who is now answered by a call center instead of people in Purple, gave me the wrong answer... *sigh* However, Bus Central and a few dispatchers were the ones to give me the correct answer.)
  • All-Star Movies will be splitting from Sports & Music during peak times of the afternoon/evening at Animal Kingdom/Blizzard Beach, Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon, and the Disney-MGM Studios. All-Stars will remain completly split at the Magic Kingdom past 3:00, and Epcot past 9:00. (Note: This is a test, and is subject to change at any given moment. Please double check all signage to be sure you are boarding the correct bus.)
  • The blue route boat will be starting earlier in the day. The Blue route is the FW/WL/CR route. The first Blue launch will depart FW at 6:45am, and WL at 6:50am. Contemporary will be at 7:00am. A second Blue launch will start service at 7:30am. (Note: This is a test, and is subject to change without notice.)
  • The West Depot is now open in addition to the South Depot at Riverside. Plans are set to open the rest of the stops by July 15th.
  • The new bus stop at the Polynesian is set to open before July 4th. The new bus stop is located underneath the Monorail beam, near the Neverland Club. It will be sheltered, has seating area, and will be fully wheelchair accessible.
  • Designs are in place to redesign the Outpost Depot at Fort Wilderness. Construction may begin as early as this Fall.
  • Changes are in the works for the routing of the DTD buses to the Magic Kingdom area resorts. Preliminary details suggest the buses may follow the same routes that AK buses follow. (CR/Poly, WL/GF, and FWOD) If the DTD test goes well, I'm assuming the Studios will be next.
  • In addition to the MK Resort Area, the people that be are looking into changing the routing to the Epcot Resort Area for Downtown Disney. No word yet on if AK is looking at change.

That's all for now... More to come later, as it comes in. And of course as always, feel free to ask questions and whatnot.

Thanks yet again Tyler...you certainly do keep us well informed. I am especially grateful for the Character Breakfast/ park area info. We will be at CBR, so far looks like that resort will remain as is with it's service for the most part.

Thank you so much Tyler !
We will be relying on Disney transportation service for the whole of our two week vacation in September. Normally we have a rental car, but decided we didnt need it after the last trip in May. If they are opening the Riverside bus stops I guess that the rumour that the whole resort is opening back up is true!:smooth:

Thanks Tyler! We're staying at the ASMusic and if the Movies gets their own bus, less people we have to wait for!Wooo-Hoooo!!!!

Can not wait for it to be time to go!Disney, here we come!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Okay Tyler, question for ya. With these new buses that run in the morning taking you to the park area how late do they run before they start just dropping off at the parks. This is the reason for my question - I have 4 morning breakfasts planned all for 8:30 - two are in parks (MK and Epcot) which I don't anticipate a problem for just take the bus with that name on it over and 2 which are at other resorts (GF and WL). How do I get to those resorts? I'm guessing by 8am the busses will be running right to the parks by that time. Would I just go to MK for both and take the monorail to GF and a boat to WL? Oh by the way I'm staying at POR.

Thanks so much for your help. I don't know what we would do without you.

Thanks for the information.

I am really impressed on how you and all the other drivers keep it all straight. Since you don't know where you will be working and (with Magic on Demand) you have no idea where you are going next, you have to know every route and when it changes - when YC/BC is or isn't combined with BWI and S/D, remembering that you are working a DTD bus so you go in the opossite direction in CBR,CSR, etc.

I have one too Tyler. We're at AllStarSports for our first night, then over to Polynesian for the remaining 7. Question is...are we okay letting AllStars move our stuff and we just take a bus to MK and then monorail over to Polynesian first thing in the morning(it will be a Sat) or would we be better off just using a cab?? Thanks for all you do here. You are our Disney treasure.

Thanks for the update!!!
My question is along the lines of honeymos. We are staying at ASMO, and have a PS at Chef Mickeys for 8:15. Will the bus take us to the Contemporary, or just the MK?

Thank you so much for this valuable information.

It will be very useful in my upcoming trip!

Not 9 but 10 days! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Because everything is so dynamic, it's hard to give a specific answer. Your best bet is to speak with the driver upon boarding. Let them know where you are going, and they will advise you from there. Depending on whats going on, they may or may not be able to take you directly. When they enter the MK, they get thier next assignment. Sometimes the dispatcher will say, "Go drop them off, and return here." Other times, if the drop off is for say, CR, they dispatcher will assign them a CR->Poly->Park route.

Be sure to allow time for the "worst case" scenario... having to catch the monorail at the MK. Just in case. :)

Of course. Disney will move your stuff for you, while you're playing in the parks. Monorail starts operation at 7:00am, and is a perfect way to start your stay at the Polynesian. :)

The dispatchers help out with that... when we call for our assignment over the radion, they'll say "Epcot Resorts - Just the FOUR!" for when Boardwalk separates from the rest at DTD.

You'd be surprised at how many times I'm driving... And I go off in wonderland... la la la... and then AHH... wait! where am I going?! LOL And it takes me a second or two to remember.

And then there will be the days when I keep getting Coronado dispatches, and then one random Caribbean dispatch... and I start to head to Coronado. Oops... LOL :) It's a shame I'm not perfect :teeth:

Some time ago I asked and you answered expertly I thought about how the early entry buses run, well, earlier for those visitors at the Disney resorts going to early entry at the parks.

Does this new system change any of that? I'm staying at WL - you mentioned the boat schedule changed...

Thanks for your expertise in advance.

Nope... the only thing (besides the boat) that has changed, is the labeling of the buses. Instead of "CHARACTER BREAKFAST" the bus will read it's destination area... ie: "MAGIC KINGDOM"

If anything, this is for the better.

So lets say you turn left out of MGM (going to CSR) instead of right (to CBR). Do you try and cover up the oops? :D

"Well folks, you look tired and doesn't it feel good sitting in this nice air conditioned bus? So I'll take you on a little tour. On your right is CSR. Here a little farther down on your left is BB and W/S miniature golf courses. OK, before we turn onto Oseola up ahead are the AS resorts. And do you see that huge McDonalds? Who thought that the only McDonalds on property was at DTD, raise your hands? As we make our turn onto Victory Way, to the right is WWOS. BTW bus service for WWOS ends at 8 PM.

"To your right is the new POP Century Resort. It will be openning in December. As we come to CBR, I hope you enjoyed the ride. Thanks for riding Tyler tours." :teeth:

You would probably have to come up with some good excuse for the dispatcher, but I am sure you could. You could use the old "Imus in the Morning" (radio personality in NY) excuse of a family of migrating turtles was crossing the road and had to wait until they got across.:D

LOL... Nah... I'm usually honest with them, and tell them what a dingbat I am. They get a good kick out of it, and laugh.
