Do you rinse after brushing your teeth?

I rinse. Have never heard you shouldn’t. My toothpaste tube directions (just read for the first time) says not to swallow, but nothing about rinsing. Don’t think I’ll be changing my lifelong habit. My teeth are pretty good and have only ever had a few cavities (none in many years).

Am not offended. As with many threads on here the OP is asking what WE do. That may/may not be what someone else does. In the past I can recall the recommendation was that you should not swallow toothpaste. I can't recall any such advice regarding rinsing and have no plans to change what I have done all these years.

I can remember over the years how medical advice on a number of topics has moved around. First butter was bad for you so you should use margarine instead...........then with further study that was found to not be true. Same with drinking whole milk or eating eggs. Similarly with dental advice I don't assume because this happens to be the latest 'guidance' that we all have to change what we have done all these years.

Was thinking more about this, and I recall that when I was younger, many people kept small paper cups in the bathroom, often in a dispenser, presumably for rinsing (and other things like gargling). If the ADA recommends not rinsing, I suspect it is a relatively recent guideline.
