It looks like you guys had a great time there! Makes me want to go to the beach :yay: I cant wait to hear about the rest of your trip! Keep them coming :thumbsup2

It was really fun! I loved Vero Beach!

OOOH, the shadows in the water would have seriously creeped me out too!!! Did Rob tell you they were sharks??? The video of him telling you where the sharks usually attack was really funny! I'm so glad you posted your report here, I'm really enjoying it!

They totally freaked me out! Rob thought they were people at first, but they never came up so he is sure they were sharks. I don't know. It was really freaky!

Rob has a problem with watching shark week, and that is what makes him so scared of the ocean.

aww so cute im glad her "sassyness" turned around for this trip! cant wait for more!

She really did turn around for the trip! It made it so great! I'm really missing her though becasue her mom did end up moving her to a school on her side of town. She used to go to my school. I miss seeing her everyday. :sad1:

very very entertaining,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thanx 4 sharing your trip:goodvibes :yay: :dance3: :cloud9: :thumbsup2

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Wow, thanks for sharing - and the great pictures!!!! Can't wait to read more!!!

I'm kind of obsessed with taking pictures!

Can't wait to go to Disney with you next!

I didn't realize you were in Kansas. So am I! Where do you go to the lake?

We're in Wichita. We go to El Dorado Lake. Where are you at in Kansas?! You must be the one who buys up all the good Disney fabric!!!!

Okay...I just read all of it. Wow it looks like you guys were having a blast.

I am so glad the magic kicked in for her! That is so sweet!!!! You are a great aunt!:goodvibes

My friend on TGM was the first to get "dot dot." Now we all have to get it every time!!!

Day 3, June 22, 2008: The Sand Monster!!!!

I didn’t write notes for this day until we were on the plane going home, so it won’t be quite as detailed. Whoops!

This morning Chad, Halie, and I got up bright and early to hit the beach one last time. Rob decided to stay in the room. Later he told me he watched King Kong. How exciting.

After a quick breakfast on the balcony we headed to the beach. We didn’t take the chairs today since we wouldn’t be down there that long. On the way there I stopped to get a boogie board. The waves looked really big from our balcony. I was hoping to catch some of them today. I was telling the CM that I just wanted it for an hour or so because we were leaving. I told him that the waves were horrible the day before and he agreed. He then told me I could take a board for free, just bring it back when I was done. Bonus!

We got down to the beach and Chad got right to fishing.

P6210130.jpg

The beach was pretty deserted so early in the morning.

P6210133.jpg

P6210132.jpg

I tried to boogie board, but of course the waves died down as soon as we got down there, so that didn’t work out so well. Halie had a good time playing in the sand. I knew she was going to be really sad to have to leave.

P6210134.jpg

She dug a hole.
P6210137.jpg

She got mad because water came into it.
P6210138.jpg

She decided if you can’t beat the waves, join them!
P6210139.jpg

Chad did some snorkeling that morning. He said he could see more than the day before, but the waves still kicked up too much sand to see much.

I thought these pictures of Halie turned out nice.
P6210140.jpg

P6210141.jpg

There were tons of shells on the beach that morning.
P6210136.jpg

I decided to write my name with shells.
P6210146.jpg

Then I buried Halie so she’d look like a mermaid!
P6210152.jpg

When Chad was done snorkeling we asked if we could bury him. Halie thought it was so fun!

P6210153.jpg

P6210154.jpg

Then Chad decided to put on his goggles and snorkel and have us bury him all the way.

See his snorkel poking out?
P6210156.jpg

P6210158.jpg

P6210159.jpg

Beware of the Sand Monster!!!!

After the Sand Monster emerged, he decided to fill back in the hole and make it look a person was still buried there.

P6210167.jpg

In the meantime, Halie wrote her name in the sand just like her Auntie Krista.

P6210164.jpg

Rob said I couldn’t post the picture of me lying next to my name. Spoilsport.

Halie decided to help her daddy a little bit. By this point I was starting to nag at them that we needed to get going. Halie wanted to swim in the pool a little bit before we checked out and we were quickly approaching 10:00 which is when I wanted to be back to the room getting ready to go.

P6210171.jpg

A few last beach pictures and it was time to go.

P6210175.jpg

P6210176.jpg

P6210177.jpg

P6210178.jpg

Chad went up to the room to get ready to go and Halie and I went to the pool. We had a lot of fun playing with her princess dive sticks that Tinkerbell had left her. While we were swimming the little girl from the bead craft asked us if Halie was going to be making a t-shirt that day. Halie got all excited. She said it was at 10:30, which sounded like perfect timing for us. I went to the counter and signed her up. They applied the money from the Seaside Chefs craft that she didn’t attend the day before to this craft.

I told Halie we had to go get ready now so she could come back for the craft. We get out and dry off. I notice Halie doesn’t have her shoes. Her pink Croc flip flops. Gone. We look everywhere. We go back to the shower by the beach. Gone. I decide that we don’t have time to look right now and we’ll have to go look on the beach later. We head back to the room and I get Halie ready. Then I ask Chad to take her to the craft.

I’m going to go off on a tangent here. God forbid he take care of his child one time during the trip. I had done everything up to this point. Yet he acted like he couldn’t walk her down to the activity. I could have slapped him at this point. I didn’t take no for an answer and he walked her down. I told him to look for her shoes while he was down there.

While Chad and Halie were gone, I got ready and finished packing. Chad returned from dropping her off with no shoes. I asked if he looked. Nope. Watermelon Tomato Firefly. He was starting to really tick me off.

At 11:00 we were supposed to be checked out. I wasn’t done packing everything. I sent Chad to go get Halie. He protested then went. I told him to look for the shoes. While they are gone I get everything finished. All we have to do is change Halie’s shirt. I’m waiting by the door for them and hear Halie bawling as she comes down the hall.

When I ask what’s wrong, Chad says she has to throw her shirt away. He’s being a huge jerk about it. Halie is bawling and tells me that her dad walked in to the craft area, saw the shirt, and immediately said “That’s going in the trash.” Now, I’ll admit, the shirt was dripping with paint, but there are kinder ways to go about saying things.

I reassured Halie and told her we’d try to take the shirt. We’d see what we could do. Then I saw that Chad had paint on him just from carrying it to the room. I broke it to Halie that we’d have to take a picture of the shirt and then throw it away. I explained to her how there was no room in the car and that it would take hours to dry. Poor thing. She was so sad.

P6210186.jpg

Looking back, I should have asked at the front desk if they could keep it till it dried then shipped it to me. My brother was so stupid that day. I don’t know why he was being so mean about it. We could have avoided tears by just explaining things nicely in the first place.

After the t-shirt fiasco, I took one last picture of Halie on the balcony. Good bye Vero Beach!
P6210184.jpg

How cute is she with her sunglasses and backpack on?!?!?
P6210187.jpg

We loaded up the car. I have no idea how we fit all the crap in to it. We are over packers for sure. We drove in to town to find somewhere to eat. We decided on Panda Express. I could have sworn I took pictures of our food, I know I brought the camera in. I don’t have the pictures though.

Lunch cost $19.08. Definitely the cheapest meal of the trip.
After Halie and I were done we went outside to take a picture with the Panda. This was taken with Halie’s camera so the quality isn’t great.

PICT0037.jpg

Then we went to the car to wait on the boys.

P6210188.jpg

The drive to WDW was uneventful. The funniest thing was when Chad’s girlfriend AKA the GPS, said we had 99 miles to our destination. Chad broke in to a rendition of 99 Miles to Disney World sung to the tune of 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

When we were almost there we stopped to get gas. We prepaid $50 and the tank didn’t even take that much. This was the beginning of Rob thinking we needed a new car. Our cars don’t even get full with $80. Halie and I went in to the nasty bathroom together. While we were in there, Halie dropped a pin off her lanyard. I almost died having to pick it up off the disgusting floor.

Then we got back on the road. We were almost there!!!!

We finally arrived to OKW around 3:00. When we checked in they noticed right away that we were linked to Jen's reservation. The problem was that They were in building 19 (I think) and we needed building 30 or higher. 30 and higher have two entrances to the bathroom, otherwise my brother and Halie would have to go through our bedroom to get to the bathroom. Not cool. So as sad as I was to not be right next to Jen, we took the next available room. She came back with the room assignment, and then I asked if we could be on the top floor, I really wanted to have a balcony. She went and asked the manager, switched it around and gave us our KTTW cards.

So funny! Not sure what I liked best...sand monster or the Cribs video!:lmao: but...he didn't annouce where the magic happens...:rotfl2:

I just love that she is getting so excited!!!! You can just tell that there is no way she is not going to enjoy the magice that gets you there!!!!:goodvibes

He did say there would be action in the whirlpool.

Thanks for reading!

I m in for the trip! I grew up in Kansas, and met my DH at KU...we are Jayhawks living in LSU country!

We are south of Kansas City. We go to the Ozarks a lot and go to Camdenton and Osage. Do you fly out of Kansas City when you go to Disney? I just got a great deal on tickets for January from Delta. I hate Delta, but the price was right!:thumbsup2

We have actually never flown from KC. It's a 3 hour drive from here, so it's just never been worth it. We are flying Delta in January too, but from Wichita.

Day 3 Continued!

After we got settled into our room a little bit we decided to proceed with our really ridiculous non-TGM plan. Let me backtrack here for an explanation.

Originally I had wanted us to go to MK EMH tonight. Rob and I love EMH at MK and we always try to go to it. Then I realized that Halie had the pirate cruise tomorrow. I didn’t want her to be tired for it, so I started to rethink the EMH. I decided we should just go to AK until it closes at 8:00 and then have an early evening. For some reason I decide to tell Rob. Rob never gets in on the planning. He just goes where I tell him normally. Well, I tell him about the dilemma and he gets all upset that we aren’t going to EMH and insists we go. So I tell him we will just rest in the room until late and then go. He doesn’t like that either. He wants to go to AK and then go to MK EMH.

I mull over this plan for weeks and can’t decide what to do. I was only planning on buying my brother and Halie basic tickets plus the water park option. No park hopping. This was really the only time we were going to hop and I couldn’t see a point in adding hoppers for one day of hopping. I call my brother and talk to him about it before the trip and he says he will pay for the hoppers. Problem solved.

So after I checked in to OKW and everyone was heading to the car, I stopped and bought the tickets for Chad and Halie. Rob and I already had PAPs. I got them both MYW with park hopping and the waterpark option. I figure Chad would pay me the money later so I just charged it to the room. Now back to the story.

We head to AK. On the way there it’s raining. I let everyone know how pissed I was going to be if I made all these cute outfits for Halie and she had to wear a poncho over them all the time. By the time we got there, it was just sprinkling.

As we go in to AK we get a few photopass pictures.

image0003.jpg

image0009.jpg

Then we head to Dinoland.

P6220208.jpg

First ride of the trip is Dinosaur! How fun for Halie. She hated this ride when she was 5 and she hated it now. Poor thing. I took a picture of the picture, but it didn’t turn out that great. She had her head buried into me the whole time.

P6220211.jpg

We walked through Dinoland to EE next.

P6220213.jpg

The wait on EE was posted as 20 minutes, but it was more like 10. This would be Halie’s first time on a real roller coaster. We waited for front row seats as usual. Chad and Rob rode up front and Halie and I were in the 2nd row. Halie cried a bit in line, but after I told her I’d buy her a Yeti when we got off, she was all better. She didn’t like the ride. Not one bit.

P6220237.jpg

When we got off she asked me when I was going to buy her a “spaghetti.” ROFL!!!! I told her we’d look around while the boys rode EE again.

P6220238.jpg

She ended up deciding she’d rather have a Mickey or Minnie doll on our way out. The boys called us when they were on their way up the big hill so we could get their picture.

Where are they?
P6220239.jpg

There they are!!!
P6220240.jpg

After they got off, Rob and I rode again while Chad waited with Halie. We discussed how if we were alone we would have rode in the front row over and over until the park closed. Oh well, it’s not all about us this trip. After our ride we went and found Chad and Halie. I figured that if we went to Rafiki’s Planet Watch tonight we wouldn’t have to visit it on our rope drop day.

On our way to RPW, we stopped for a snack. Rob and I got honeydew slices to share and Chad and Halie got a pretzel. Both snack options on the dining plan. The dumb thing was the cheese for the pretzel was $1. It was also a snack option. I paid cash for it rather than waste a credit on it.

We took our food down to the train station to wait. Soon we got on board!
P6220214.jpg

P6220215.jpg

Halie took a ton of pictures with her camera of RPW, sadly only a few turned out. At least the camera entertained her and kept her from begging me to take pictures of everything. Here are a few she took…

PICT0062.jpg

PICT0064.jpg

She zoomed in close on the chameleon because she has a pet chameleon that her dad got her for her 7th birthday. Spike the Chamillionare.

PICT0065.jpg

Or should I say she did have a chameleon. My brother in an act of extreme stupidity killed it last week. He thought it could use some sun. So he put it outside in it’s glass cage and left the house. When he returned a few hours later it was dead. Ummm…it has been over 100 degrees everyday here. *** was he thinking?!?!?!? He does feel really bad though. He is buying her a new one. She found out while we were at the lake this weekend when he called her. She bawled her eyes out for about 20 minutes. She was so upset. Poor thing.

Once we got inside, Halie touched a snake.

P6220217.jpg

Then we looked at the exhibits.

P6220218.jpg

Some animals that swallowed some things they shouldn’t have.

P6220219.jpg

Halie found this hidden Mickey.

P6220222.jpg

She was taking pictures of something here and talking to the CM.

P6220224.jpg

We met Jiminy Cricket!
P6220225.jpg

Halie touched the snake again. This time there weren’t a hundred kids around that had no concept of a line so I got a better picture.

P6220227.jpg

Halie met Pocahontas.
P6220228.jpg

We all sat through the listening thing by Grandmother Willow. I love these things. They always give me chills.

P6220231.jpg

Then Halie met Rafiki.
P6220232.jpg

After that we decided to head out of there.

P6220234.jpg

It was getting pretty chilly so I was keeping Halie warm and Rob was keeping me warm. Ignore the fanny pack. I don’t really wear one of those. You didn’t see it.

P6220235.jpg

After this it was about time for our ADR at the Wave, so we headed out of there. On the way out Halie spotted another hidden Mickey!

P6220236.jpg

We also took a few more photopass pictures.

image0025.jpg

image0039.jpg

Up next: We meet the rudest NFL player ever and two famous TGMers!

Uh oh! Don't tell me you had to smack down a football player!

Can't wait to hear that story and your experience at The Wave.

Day 3 continued- The Wave and MK EMH

Our ADR at The Wave was for 7:30. We arrived at the Contemporary around 7:00 and parked in the parking lot near the walkway from MK. We figured that would make it easier for later that night. I completely forgot about using my DDE for valet parking. I did use it later in the trip though.

When we got out of the car we discovered that it was really chilly. I couldn’t believe how cold Halie and I were considering it was summertime. I told her I’d buy her a jacket at one of the gift shops since I’d forgotten to pack one for the trip. Also by this time, my brother was starting to be a huge baby. He had a headache. He was saying he wasn’t going to go to MK EMH that night. I was about to snap. Remember I had paid for park hopper option just for that night. If he didn’t use it I was going to go OFF! I told him that I’d buy him some Tylenol and to get over it.

Once inside the Contemporary Rob and Chad went to check in and Halie and I headed for a gift shop. We couldn’t find any jackets for her, but we did buy Chad a single dose of Tylenol for $2.60. Then we went down to the Wave to join the boys. The lighting is dark in there and it’s pretty romantic. We had to wait for awhile in the waiting area before they called us.

P6220241.jpg

P6220242.jpg

After about 15 minutes they called us. Our waiter was really nice and helped us decide what to get.

Rob, Chad, and I all had the filet.

Rob’s
P6220244.jpg

Chad and mine looked a little different because we didn’t want the greens. It looked kinda funny on the big plate all alone.
P6220245.jpg

Halie had pasta. She also got fresh fruit as an appetizer.
P6220246.jpg

Our waiter also told us we could get any non-alcoholic beverage as our drink so Chad and I got the super charged smoothie (I hoped it would give him energy and he’d quit being a baby) and Rob got a chocolate milk shake. The drinks were delicious!

The meal also came with bread. Yum yum!
P6220243.jpg

As we ordered our desserts our waiter asked Rob if he followed football. Rob (who can be sooo rude sometimes) said, “Of course,” in about the rudest tone ever. The waiter said, “Well that’s Marvin Harrison over there.” Apparently he plays for the Colts and he is known as “the gentlemen of the league” because he never talks trash, is polite to the refs, etc. Rob was pretty excited about it.

We proceeded to order our dessert. They had a really neat thing at the Wave. You got three mini desserts. You could pick which ones or just order one of the trios they put together.

Rob got the Creamy Indulgence.
P6220250.jpg

I picked three. I had Panna Cotta, Caramel Chocolate Mousse, and Pineapple Sorbet.
P6220248.jpg

Chad had Cheesecake, Zucchini Carrot Cake, and Strawberry Sorbet.
P6220249.jpg

Halie had the build your own sundae. That was basically the only kids meal choice.
P6220247.jpg

This is where the problem came in. I always take pictures of our food. Always. Always, always, always. When I took a picture of Chad’s dessert, I can’t help it that Marvin Harrison was sitting behind him. I was taking pictures anyways. Well, apparently he didn’t want me taking a picture with him in the background because he proceeded to place his menu on the table to block his face for the rest of our meal. Then Rob decided he was mad at me for making Marvin mad. I was taking a picture of the food. You can’t even see him in the picture. Seriously.

While I was finishing up dessert Halie and Chad went to the restroom. While they were gone Rob was saying how he would be mad at himself forever if he didn’t try to talk to Marvin Harrison and shake his hand. I encouraged him to go for it. I knew it would make Rob’s day. Chad and Halie returned and Halie comes to whisper in my ear. “I took a picture of the bathroom for you.” OMG!!!! ROFLMAO! I taught her well, she now takes pictures of everything just like her auntie!!!

PICT0078.jpg

Overall I give The Wave 4 out of 4 Stars!
$139.95

I was in for a shock when I saw the suggested tip! 18% was $23.65 and 20% was $26.28. I left $25 and couldn’t believe that the waiters at WDW make so much money off one table. Holy cow!

Just as we finished paying the people that were with Marvin Harrison got up to go to the restroom. Rob took it as a good opportunity to try to speak to him. He went over there while Chad, Halie and I went on to the exit.

As he approached MH turned towards the wall. Rob said, “Excuse me.” MH ignored him. Rob said, “Excuse me, are you Marvin Harrison?” MH said no. Then Rob said, “Well, I just wanted to say that I’m a big fan and you’re a great player.” MH turned back to the wall.

Rob exited the restaurant and told us about it. He was crushed. I know that some people are going to say that he should be able to enjoy a nice meal with his peeps and not be bothered by fans. I disagree. I think that he could have shook Rob’s hand. He could have at least said hi and then said he didn’t want to attract attention. When you make a bazillion dollars a year you kind of lose the ability to go eat at the Wave with the commoners. It would have made my husbands day to shake hands with the “gentlemen of the league.” Instead we have a memory of him being a rude celebrity. Whatever.

After we left the Wave we went upstairs to catch the monorail to MK. Yes, I’m naughty and was leaving my car at the Contemporary for the evening. While on the monorail Chad said he would like to ride the monorail all the way around one day. I took a mental note of this. Halie loved the monorail!

P6220251.jpg

On the way to MK I exchanged texts with Jen and decided to meet her at Toon Town. I talked to Melissa as well and she said she’d meet us there.

Finally to MK!!!
P6220252.jpg

I was so excited when I got to Toon Town and there was Jen!!! My long lost sista!!!!

P6220254.jpg

Halie and the girls played a little bit on the play area. They clicked right away.

P6220253.jpg

P6220255.jpg

P6220259.jpg

P6220261.jpg

Soon Melissa and Ryan arrived!
P6220260.jpg

After a little BAP chat, Jen’s DH was ready to go. He was taking the two older girls to EMH and Jen was taking the two younger girls back to the room. We stuck with Melissa and Ryan for the evening. Ryan is so much fun! I love that kid! I barely took any pictures and I forgot to write the notes for this day until on the plane on the way home so here’s what I remember.

First we rode HM. Ryan knows all the lines to the stretching room! It reminded me of being at the Zag and riding it with everyone. It was so fun!

P6220262.jpg

Then we rode POTC. Next we rode Splash. Halie didn’t like that at all. When we got back to the end of the ride they said we could stay on! Halie refused and got out. Chad got out with her. The four of us rode again. We had so much fun with Ryan trying to scare us everytime it went down. He kept telling me we were at the big drop because he knows I hate it!

After we got off Splash, Chad was ready to leave. He has a friend that lives in FL and they were meeting up. I gave Chad directions to DTD. I told him it would take awhile. He had no idea how long it would end up taking. Isn’t it interesting that he was too tired to go to the park, but he had the energy to go meet his friend?

After Chad left we rode BTMRR. This is when I gained a new level of respect for my BFF Melissa. I pushed Ryan up the hill to BTMRR and it was hard. It takes a lot of stamina for her to push that boy around WDW everyday of her trip. She is such a great mom to those boys. They sure are lucky to have her in their life. Love ya Melissa!!!!

BTMRR was great! Halie thought it was a little scary. She had cried on it when she was 5, so I think she was just scared because of that. Afterwards we finally went to Fantasyland to do some rides that Halie would like. First we did IASW. This is my mom’s favorite ride and consequently, Halie’s favorite ride. She loves her grandma! She took about a million pictures during the ride. Lucky for you all, I narrowed it down to four to post.

PICT0081.jpg

PICT0085.jpg

PICT0087.jpg

PICT0095.jpg

I made sure to sing to Ryan the whole ride. I’m sure he loved it. Would you believe that after this, Rob was ready to go? It kinda made me mad. We were finally going to go on some rides that Halie would enjoy and he wants to leave. Plus it was Melissa’s first time going to an EMH and we weren’t even going to stay the whole time. So sad. I knew it was going to be too much to go to AK and MK EMH.

So we told Melissa bye and headed out. We walked the walkway back to the car and went home. I figured Chad would be there, but he wasn’t. I don’t know exactly how much later, but we were all asleep when my cell phone rang. It was Chad asking what building we were in. About 30 minutes later, I heard the door open. The next day he told me that he had his friend drop him off in the completely wrong section of OKW. He was so lost. He wandered all over the place and even tried his key in a few wrong doors before calling me. Then he had to walk clear to our room. Serves him right for deserting us at the MK.

Up next…Yo ho yo ho, a pirate’s cruise for Halie!

I'm loving your trip report. Halie looked like she was having so much fun on the beach! What a great aunt you are to her!

Thanks! She did have a blast at the beach. I'd love to take her back. I told her maybe in two years. But if we have a baby of our own, trips with Halie are probably going to be cut back.
