Day 3 continued- The Wave and MK EMH
Our ADR at The Wave was for 7:30. We arrived at the Contemporary around 7:00 and parked in the parking lot near the walkway from MK. We figured that would make it easier for later that night. I completely forgot about using my DDE for valet parking. I did use it later in the trip though.
When we got out of the car we discovered that it was really chilly. I couldn’t believe how cold Halie and I were considering it was summertime. I told her I’d buy her a jacket at one of the gift shops since I’d forgotten to pack one for the trip. Also by this time, my brother was starting to be a huge baby. He had a headache. He was saying he wasn’t going to go to MK EMH that night. I was about to snap. Remember I had paid for park hopper option just for that night. If he didn’t use it I was going to go OFF! I told him that I’d buy him some Tylenol and to get over it.
Once inside the Contemporary Rob and Chad went to check in and Halie and I headed for a gift shop. We couldn’t find any jackets for her, but we did buy Chad a single dose of Tylenol for $2.60. Then we went down to the Wave to join the boys. The lighting is dark in there and it’s pretty romantic. We had to wait for awhile in the waiting area before they called us.
After about 15 minutes they called us. Our waiter was really nice and helped us decide what to get.
Rob, Chad, and I all had the filet.
Rob’s
Chad and mine looked a little different because we didn’t want the greens. It looked kinda funny on the big plate all alone.
Halie had pasta. She also got fresh fruit as an appetizer.
Our waiter also told us we could get any non-alcoholic beverage as our drink so Chad and I got the super charged smoothie (I hoped it would give him energy and he’d quit being a baby) and Rob got a chocolate milk shake. The drinks were delicious!
The meal also came with bread. Yum yum!
As we ordered our desserts our waiter asked Rob if he followed football. Rob (who can be sooo rude sometimes) said, “Of course,” in about the rudest tone ever. The waiter said, “Well that’s Marvin Harrison over there.” Apparently he plays for the Colts and he is known as “the gentlemen of the league” because he never talks trash, is polite to the refs, etc. Rob was pretty excited about it.
We proceeded to order our dessert. They had a really neat thing at the Wave. You got three mini desserts. You could pick which ones or just order one of the trios they put together.
Rob got the Creamy Indulgence.
I picked three. I had Panna Cotta, Caramel Chocolate Mousse, and Pineapple Sorbet.
Chad had Cheesecake, Zucchini Carrot Cake, and Strawberry Sorbet.
Halie had the build your own sundae. That was basically the only kids meal choice.
This is where the problem came in. I always take pictures of our food. Always. Always, always, always. When I took a picture of Chad’s dessert, I can’t help it that Marvin Harrison was sitting behind him. I was taking pictures anyways. Well, apparently he didn’t want me taking a picture with him in the background because he proceeded to place his menu on the table to block his face for the rest of our meal. Then Rob decided he was mad at me for making Marvin mad. I was taking a picture of the food. You can’t even see him in the picture. Seriously.
While I was finishing up dessert Halie and Chad went to the restroom. While they were gone Rob was saying how he would be mad at himself forever if he didn’t try to talk to Marvin Harrison and shake his hand. I encouraged him to go for it. I knew it would make Rob’s day. Chad and Halie returned and Halie comes to whisper in my ear. “I took a picture of the bathroom for you.” OMG!!!! ROFLMAO! I taught her well, she now takes pictures of everything just like her auntie!!!
Overall I give The Wave 4 out of 4 Stars!
$139.95
I was in for a shock when I saw the suggested tip! 18% was $23.65 and 20% was $26.28. I left $25 and couldn’t believe that the waiters at WDW make so much money off one table. Holy cow!
Just as we finished paying the people that were with Marvin Harrison got up to go to the restroom. Rob took it as a good opportunity to try to speak to him. He went over there while Chad, Halie and I went on to the exit.
As he approached MH turned towards the wall. Rob said, “Excuse me.” MH ignored him. Rob said, “Excuse me, are you Marvin Harrison?” MH said no. Then Rob said, “Well, I just wanted to say that I’m a big fan and you’re a great player.” MH turned back to the wall.
Rob exited the restaurant and told us about it. He was crushed. I know that some people are going to say that he should be able to enjoy a nice meal with his peeps and not be bothered by fans. I disagree. I think that he could have shook Rob’s hand. He could have at least said hi and then said he didn’t want to attract attention. When you make a bazillion dollars a year you kind of lose the ability to go eat at the Wave with the commoners. It would have made my husbands day to shake hands with the “gentlemen of the league.” Instead we have a memory of him being a rude celebrity. Whatever.
After we left the Wave we went upstairs to catch the monorail to MK. Yes, I’m naughty and was leaving my car at the Contemporary for the evening. While on the monorail Chad said he would like to ride the monorail all the way around one day. I took a mental note of this. Halie loved the monorail!
On the way to MK I exchanged texts with Jen and decided to meet her at Toon Town. I talked to Melissa as well and she said she’d meet us there.
Finally to MK!!!
I was so excited when I got to Toon Town and there was Jen!!! My long lost sista!!!!
Halie and the girls played a little bit on the play area. They clicked right away.
Soon Melissa and Ryan arrived!
After a little BAP chat, Jen’s DH was ready to go. He was taking the two older girls to EMH and Jen was taking the two younger girls back to the room. We stuck with Melissa and Ryan for the evening. Ryan is so much fun! I love that kid! I barely took any pictures and I forgot to write the notes for this day until on the plane on the way home so here’s what I remember.
First we rode HM. Ryan knows all the lines to the stretching room! It reminded me of being at the Zag and riding it with everyone. It was so fun!
Then we rode POTC. Next we rode Splash. Halie didn’t like that at all. When we got back to the end of the ride they said we could stay on! Halie refused and got out. Chad got out with her. The four of us rode again. We had so much fun with Ryan trying to scare us everytime it went down. He kept telling me we were at the big drop because he knows I hate it!
After we got off Splash, Chad was ready to leave. He has a friend that lives in FL and they were meeting up. I gave Chad directions to DTD. I told him it would take awhile. He had no idea how long it would end up taking. Isn’t it interesting that he was too tired to go to the park, but he had the energy to go meet his friend?
After Chad left we rode BTMRR. This is when I gained a new level of respect for my BFF Melissa. I pushed Ryan up the hill to BTMRR and it was hard. It takes a lot of stamina for her to push that boy around WDW everyday of her trip. She is such a great mom to those boys. They sure are lucky to have her in their life. Love ya Melissa!!!!
BTMRR was great! Halie thought it was a little scary. She had cried on it when she was 5, so I think she was just scared because of that. Afterwards we finally went to Fantasyland to do some rides that Halie would like. First we did IASW. This is my mom’s favorite ride and consequently, Halie’s favorite ride. She loves her grandma! She took about a million pictures during the ride. Lucky for you all, I narrowed it down to four to post.
I made sure to sing to Ryan the whole ride. I’m sure he loved it. Would you believe that after this, Rob was ready to go? It kinda made me mad. We were finally going to go on some rides that Halie would enjoy and he wants to leave. Plus it was Melissa’s first time going to an EMH and we weren’t even going to stay the whole time. So sad. I knew it was going to be too much to go to AK and MK EMH.
So we told Melissa bye and headed out. We walked the walkway back to the car and went home. I figured Chad would be there, but he wasn’t. I don’t know exactly how much later, but we were all asleep when my cell phone rang. It was Chad asking what building we were in. About 30 minutes later, I heard the door open. The next day he told me that he had his friend drop him off in the completely wrong section of OKW. He was so lost. He wandered all over the place and even tried his key in a few wrong doors before calling me. Then he had to walk clear to our room. Serves him right for deserting us at the MK.
Up next…Yo ho yo ho, a pirate’s cruise for Halie!
