Two trips are better than one! A June and September 2016 PTR-new trip report link

Of topic Real life update.. Things are pretty much set for the London trip in April, I can't believe we will be crossing the big pond in 3 1/2 months! My parents have done most of the planning of this trip, which is ok with me. Normally I'm an obsessive planner of all things vacation but have let them take the reigns on this one so I can concentrate on Disney stuff!
How exciting, I missed that you are going to London this year too. I got to go a few years ago for work and had an amazing time. We actually have a couple of jobs over there and crossing my fingers I can get one of them one day. Would love to live there for a few years and truly immerse myself in the city

Hence the addition of a Yak and Yeti lunch ADR on our AK day and while I was looking I just might have happened to accidentally on purpose make an ADR at Kona Cafe for some sushi before heading back to MK for some (hopefully) PM EMH's that day.
Yeah on both counts. Can't beat sushi and a pineapple drink before some MK time ; )

e have a 10:15am flight that gets us into MCO @3:50! 7 whole hours earlier than I had originally planned! Anyone say arrival day drinks at Disney Springs??
That is awesome and makes me feel really behind as we haven't booked anything for our April trip yet

I have successfully talked DH into buying Annual passes for this year
Good on ya. We weren't going to get them this year, but then realized it really is "cheaper" and of course gives me reason to try and talk the hubby into one more trip ; )

You and me both! If someone offered me a job in London I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Yeah on both counts. Can't beat sushi and a pineapple drink before some MK time ; )

Yes Ma'am!

That is awesome and makes me feel really behind as we haven't booked anything for our April trip yet

I'm sure you're fine, I'm just an over obsessive freak who books things wayyyyyyyy far in advance. :p

Oh the times, they are a changin'....

So as you may or may not have noticed I've made a change to the title of this TR thread since I seem to be talking quite a bit about my trip coming up in June, so why not make it official and roll these two puppies into one title :thumbsup2

So true to form I've been reading up on the WL thread and have gotten kinda freaked out about the expanse of construction taking place. When my son and I booked for June I had no idea half of the lodge would be closed for renovation, they are taking the entire south wing and are converting it to DVC amongst other things. Soooooooo I started telling my son about it and he started looking really disappointed and we began discussing a possible change of resorts. After lots of discussion, looking at resorts on YouTube and going back and forth we have decided to make a change.
giphy.gif

I feel really bad about abandoning the WL AGAIN but we decided we want to be able to stay there in its full glory, so back it goes on the wish list. :sad1:
But we now have a shiny new TPV booking at the Contemporary :hyper:
I know the Contemporary isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's on my list so there we go!

We had some pretty bad news at work this week which put me in a spending mood and despite the upgrade in price even with my UOC, sometimes you just gotta take Tom Cruise's advice and say what the fudge...

As a matter of fact... I did.

When my son and I booked for June I had no idea half of the lodge would be closed for renovation

Half???? Half???

But we now have a shiny new TPV booking at the Contemporary :hyper:

Hey, you do what you want.
There's definitely something to be said for being walking distance to MK!

We had some pretty bad news at work this week which put me in a spending mood

You okay?

sometimes you just gotta take Tom Cruise's advice and say what the fudge...

::yes::

Changes are normal. Heck I did it too! But I think you made the right choice. I would hate to have you regret spending all that money and be disappointed. Good call, Mama!

Half???? Half???

Yes, half! As in 1/2, 50%

Hey, you do what you want.

Agreed! It will be very cool being walking distance to MK

You okay?

Things will be fine, thanks . Without getting too whiny it goes like this.. My husband and I have had our business for 10 years, the space we lease ( about 2300sq ft) is next to a local microbrewery. Our lease is up for renewal in June and our landlord gave us the news that he is not giving us the option to renew because the brewpub wants our space or they are moving out. So we are getting the boot so they can expand. Kinda sucks

Thanks for the support! I agree, it's a lot of $$ to spend to be bummed

I agree - close to MK is fabulous!

:goodvibes:hyper:

"I'm just going to pop out for a sec to get some Starbucks...

And while I'm here, may as well ride HM... or watch the castle show.

That does suck.
Can you use it as an opportunity?
"Giant moving sale! We're expanding into our bigger and better new location!"

Laughing at you leaving WL, as we just did the exact opposite. My inlaws decided to join our next trip for a few days and beach club was going to run them almost $500 a night. Ended up deciding on the lodge as we think they'll like the overall feel of the lodge better. I'm a bit concerned about construction, but looking at the bright side with half the lodge closed crowds should be awesome.

Can't wait to see what you think of Contemporary. Its on my bucket list too, but the price is just never right. Of course I did technically stay there when I was 5, but I don't quite think that counts.

 We actually did take the "less crowds" thing into consideration too, which I think will be great for you guys. I think it makes a huge difference if you've already stayed there before. For us first timers we just want to see it in all its glory. Plus it gives an excuse to go back when it's finished :thumbsup2

I'm getting more and more excited about staying there. DH has no desire to stay there, so I'm getting to knock it off my bucket list this way. My son is a huge fan of modern architecture and I think secretly it's always been his dream to stay there. The price....kinda ouch. My son and I agreed when we booked this trip to split the cost 50/50 ( the kid NEVER spends any money on anything and works full time) and said if we could move to the Contemporary TPV he would cover the upgrade  bonus for Mom

Kelly! I'm so sorry that I have fallen so woefully far behind! But I'm here now!

This one got me right in the feels :sad1:

Urg that WL construction is a nightmare! But half the lodge?! They should just shut it down till it's done!

Soooooooo I started telling my son about it and he started looking really disappointed and we began discussing a possible change of resorts. After lots of discussion, looking at resorts on YouTube and going back and forth we have decided to make a change.

I bet your son was bummed, it's not fun to stay in construction site even if it is at Disney!

It's hard to pick a resort isn't it? Not that I would know anything about that :rolleyes1

The Contemporary is one of my favs :thumbsup2 The Monorail goes THROUGH the building! How can you not love that?!

We had some pretty bad news at work this week

Oh no! Hope everything is working out okay

Lu! No worries! Glad to have you pop by!

Urg that WL construction is a nightmare! But half the lodge?! They should just shut it down till it's done!

Agreed! I'm not sure why they didn't do just that, at least until the work on the main lodge is done. But they didn't ask me my opinion :rotfl:

It's hard to pick a resort isn't it? Not that I would know anything about that

So very difficult! Too many choices!

WOOOHOOO!! :jumping1:

TPV!!!

I know!:cloud9: I see someone else just made a TPV upgrade too!

Oh no! Hope everything is working out okay

Everything will be good. :thumbsup2 Sometimes forced change is a good thing

Boo to you! :ccat:

I went off the grid for, like, 2 days after I got this news. I couldn't handle it. :sad1:

Hi All!! :welcome: To my first PTR! I'm so excited to begin as I've been dreaming of this trip for quite some time. Today just so happens to be my birthday :bday: to me!! And since it's a day of celebration, I can't think of a better time to get this here party started! Exactly one year and 3 months to the day we will be at Disney World! It's going to be a long road but I'm counting on ya'll to keep me sane during the wait, share your expertise, and understand when I obsess over planning and change my mind....multiple times! You'll see, it's pretty much a given that's going to happen!

Who's going? Just me and the hubs!! Bob and Kelly, that's us!
View attachment 106419

We got married in Breckenridge, Co on 5/5/06 and never took a honeymoon because the cost of paying for our own wedding and starting a business just tapped out the 'ol bank account. So since we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2016 we decided what better way to celebrate than have a Disneymoonaversary!

When? September 30-October 6 2016

Where? I'll get to that soon!

Just a little backstory about us...

Bob and I met in TX in massage therapy school. We've both been previously married and each have 2 kids from our first marriages and one little darling together. We were together for 5 years before we got married, each went through massage therapy school, moved to CO where I grew up, each went to cosmetology school, worked in the same salon and a year later got married, opened up our own salon/spa, then a year after that got the surprise of Kiya! She is now 7 and the apple of her Daddy's eye.

Whew! What a whirlwind these last 9 years have been! We plan on doing this trip up right with a lot of food and drinks, fun and "hopefully" some downtime, which is hard for me to do. This is only our second trip to DW, the hubs had NEVER been ( say what???) until I convinced him to do a combo DW/ Disney cruise trip in Sept. Of 2014 after we took the little one to DLR for her 5th birthday. I think I've got him hooked, he had no idea how great it was and now appreciates my Disnerdiness.

My favorites:
Park: MK
Attraction : BTMRR, Soarin
Character: the small but mighty Tinkerbell :tinker:
Obsessive compulsive planner and changer of minds

Bob's favorites:
Park: MK
Attraction : ToT
Character: Sorcerer Mickey :smickey:
Avid Disney watch and pin collector, hates to plan

And so we begin! 15 months of planning, obsessing, wishing and hopefully laughing along the way. Put on your ears and let's have some fun!
Love that photo of you two! *huge hugs!* reading right along :lovestruc

Ohmygosh Rebecca  you have no earthly idea how happy I am to see you back!

I was just thinking about you the other day ( weird???) and was seriously worried that you were ok. This totally made my day!!! So happy to have you here!:cloud9:

I love the WL but I totally understand abandoning it. The construction will really put a damper on the charm of the place.

nobody got time for that.gif

Congrats at TPV at the Contemporary!! pixiedust: That one is also on my list but it doesn't fit our budget quite yet. With the monorail and being right next door to MK it's perfect. :cloud9: I for one love the "modern" look of it.

I love the WL bu

I know, I was so looking forward to staying there, but the more I read about construction the more I got freaked out. I'll be ok waiting until it's all shiny and new again

Thanks! We are pretty jazzed about it! I've never even been inside the Contemporary (except for passing thru on the monorail) budget wise it's :scared1: so this will probably be a one time stay since DH has no desire to stay there.

Pity Party for one please

Hey all, just a quick update to say "hello!"
The hubs and my youngest just left a while ago to stay at a hotel near the airport overnight because they have a 6:30 am flight to MCO tomorrow morning pixiedust:

Confessions of a Disneyholic...On one hand I'm SO excited for them and their Daddy Daughter trip and on the other hand I'm sad for me that I'm not going :sad1:
giphy.gif

My daughter's 8th birthday is on Sunday and they have some cool stuff lined up. Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, Beaches and Cream and dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

In other news we got about 18 inches of snow this week, boo!! I guess I should keep my big mouth shut because I just said to @kastoney in her TR that we really didn't get big snows here anymore. Ya, I don't think I'll be saying that again..:rolleyes1

Not much else going in PTR land. I think I'm driving my son slightly insane with my over planning so I've had to back off the Disney talk with him for a while.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend of Super Bowl Sunday and Mardi Gras!
