Two resorts in one trip?

Hi everyone!

I'm seriously thinking of booking a trip for this coming January.
I'm not yest sure if I'll be going alone or taking someone with me, but either way I'll probably be covering all the costs so I'm on a budget. (Think international flights, too!)

I'm thinking of Pop Century for most of the trip and then ending at the Contemporary for a night or two. I stayed at the CR with my family when I was a kid and I've been fantasizing of staying there again ever since. I'm nostalgic when it comes to my childhood :)
Anyway, no matter the cost, I wouldn't want any other deluxe resort. It's either the contemporary or just stay at Pop the whole time.

My question is regarding the reservation itself. Is it true it would count as two separate reservations? Meaning ticket prices would jump back up for the last two nights if I switched hotels?
Also, I'm having a hard time figuring out the amount of park tickets I actually need to purchase.
The dates I'm thinking of are Tuesday, Jan. 19 to Thursday, Jan. 28.
I'd stay at Pop until the 26th or 27th and then move to CR. Comes out to 9 nights total.
When you book a room they automatically offer you 1 park ticket more than the number of nights you're staying, right? So the first reservation for Pop would include 8 tickets which would cover Jan. 26- the day of the switch. And then I'd have to pay for only 2 more tickets, not 3, when I reserve the room at CR?
OR, is it better to just reserve all 10 park tickets when I book at Pop and then just reserve the room at CR?

If you made it till here, I applaud you! :cool1:

Thanks in advance!!

I would just buy the number of days ticket you want up front and get a room only ressie at CR, unless they are offering some sort of deal it's not worth trying to split the tickets up.

That's what I would do as well.

Each Disney resort reservation, whether or not they are consecutive, is considered a separate reservation.

If you want to do the split stay, you should consider not purchasing a resort/tickets package on each reservation.

Easiest way is just to buy the tickets separately from the resorts. You're not required to purchase it as a package.

If the shorter stay is at the end, you could buy a package for the first stay, purchase tickets that correspond to the entire stay with the package, then add a room only reservation.

Thanks everyone!
If I do end up going (fingers crossed!) I'll take the play, stay, dine package with the reservation at Pop.

That's another question, come to think of it. If I take the special offer with the dining plan (which I want) I won't be able to get it for the last two nights, right?
Or can I reserve two separate days on the dining plan for CR?

As a split stay person....... I would get longer tickets in my POP stay reservation and then just pay cash for meals for the last night or two. Depending how you use your meal plan you may have a meal or snack left over for the first day at new resort since they don't expire till midnight on POP check out day. You would spend less doing it this way then having 2 separate reservation with tickets.

No, you won't have dining plan for the last two nights. You can arrange to have the tickets carry over, but not the dining plan (not past the day you transition between resorts). I don't think it's worth buying a new set of tickets just to have dining plan the last two nights.

If you want to pay for the dining plan for those two nights you can book them as a ticketless package, but you'd have to call Disney to book that and I don't know what options you have for international calling.

Thanks! I didn't realize splitting was a common thing to do :)

I can actually call international with no problem (last trip I booked everything over the phone), but you're right, it's probably not worth paying for the extra dining plan days. Thanks!
