OK, I'm totally late to the Twilight party, but my 16-year-old niece couldn't stop talking about these books. She told me that I just HAD to read them. Well, I read Twilight and now I'm hooked!

I got it from Amazon and now I'm kicking myself b/c I didn't get them all at once.

I also can't wait for the movie, but here's my one complaint: they couldn't have found someone better to play Carlisle Cullen? I mean, come on, he's the doofus from that movie "Can't Hardly Wait" that is dating Jennifer Love-Hewitt and says, "Aman-DUH!":confused3

I just showed up to the Twilight party, too. Actually, before Sunday I had no idea it existed. :confused3 For some reason, I ran out that night and bought all 3 books. By yesterday afternoon, I was done with all of them! I felt like such a little kid, staying up until 3:30 am (two nights in a row) reading in bed with a flashlight! :rotfl: It made me wish I was a teenager again, well, without all the teenager stuff that I would rather not relive.

I'm right there with you about Carlisle. Isn't that guy married to Jennie Garth? Everytime I see him, I think of 90210. Eeekk! And isn't Carlisle supposed to look 23? This guy certainly does not.

Oh ladies! How can you not appreciate Peter?

Thanks for the link to Twilight Tuesday!

I'm reading The Host now and I have to say that I really like it so far (about 100 pages in). I would never have picked up something like that before! She's definitely got me trying some different things. I also reserved at the library the first book in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series that so many of you recommended. I read an exerpt on Amazon and really liked it. I'm only second in line for that one-if I had tried to reserve any of Stephenie's books, I would have been 10th! Gotta buy those! :worship: My mother is my reading buddy-she heard that Twilight was about vampires and immediately lost interest. :confused3

Debprincess:

Here's what I'm not doing while reading these books :laundy:

That's about where I am too. It's really good isn't it?

Very different from Twilight. but a good read.

I have the Host T-shirt that says: (for Melanie and Wanderer)

I love my boyfriend...

....and so do I

Can't he afford sleeves? ;)

I am beginning to count on you to wake me up every day, OCG!!! :lovestruc

I was wondering the same thing. Where are his sleeves?

I was also wondering if perhaps OCG could wake us up with some Edward every once in a while. I would truly appreciate that.

Oh my goodness...

Take this with a grain of salt for sure..but just saw this on one of the other Twilight sites..

The Breaking Dawn Preface...

"I'd had more than my fair share of near-death experiences; it wasn't something you ever really got used to.

It seemed oddly inevitable, though, facing death again.

Like I really was marked for disaster. I'd escaped time and time again, but it kept coming back to me.

Still, this time was so different from the others.

You could run from something you feared, you could try to fight something you hated. All my reactions were geared toward those kinds of killers- the monsters, the enemies.

When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options.

How could you run, how could you fight?"

Does anyone know how many Twilight books there will be in the series?

I was just reading a blurb about the Host, (having nothing better to read until Twilight comes in the mail, maybe it'll come today, :goodvibes ) and it sounds slightly similar to the series Animorphs, which I read when I was in middle school. It was when yeerks, (?) would take over the brains of humans, and aliens were trying to take over the world. I haven't read that series for like ten years, but that's what the summary reminded me of, except the Host seems like a much more mature version of it.

I think I'll order the Host too, and have it as a summer read.

That's the first thing DS16 and I said when we started reading it. We read ALL 70+ (counting all the "extras") of the Animorphs books back when they were big. Very similar, except in the Host, most people evidently just "disappear" rather than stay there trapped in their brain. Which seems worse to me.

The first time I read the Host all I could think of was how much better the Animorphs series was. But when I reread the Host a few times it really is a different story. The "host" really seems to be much more of a human type soul, whereas the Yeerks seemed to be more evil - wanting to take over and destroy humans rather than feeling bad about it. Read it carefully or plan to reread it to enjoy it more!

I haven't read The Host yet. But I think when I hit Target today I will pick it up.
