Twelve Months of Training and Travel

I continue to admire you with all of your runs. And how fun that you are doing a trip with Cynthia! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much, Kathy!

And yes, it will be fun to go with Cynthia to DLR for the DLH. She is a brave lady for agreeing to go with me. ;)

Nah, going with you is the easy part. Running 13.1 miles...now that's a different story :rotfl2:

Seriously though... you are going to do AWESOME!!! It will be a great trip and I am looking forward to it very very much! Not just because of the race..but to have a girls weekend. :goodvibes

Goal of 4 runs accomplished. Total distance 15.4 miles pace of 8:57.

Even though my miles and pace were not as good as the previous week, I still had a good week.

Monday, I believe was pretty wet. I ran in the rain and while I would have like to go faster since it was my speed run I just decided that I was happy just to be braving the elements. So even though my pace wasn't what I would have liked to see, I felt like I still accomplished something.

Tuesday was a complete change from the previous day. It was sunny and beautiful. I decided that I would take advantage of the weather and run farther than I had planned (just swap out my thursday run). I think I smiled much of this run because it was just that pretty out! I didn't care as much about pace. I just ran. I kept a very steady pace the entire time (since I was not trying to speed up...which then causes inevitable slow downs as well) The chart for this run is almost an entire straight line. I finished feeling AWESOME.

Thursday was an odd day for me. Alex and I had to be to a doctor appointment early that morning so I did not go out first thing for my run. Since we were fasting for the appointment, it through off everything we ate that day. After the appointment we drove to exchange my shoes (the ones I bought the previous week). I picked up a pair of the new brooks pure flow 3's.

I was very excited to go for a run in them when I got home. It was again a beautiful day. I needed to hustle though because somehow I got talked into driving down to meet with Kira and Josh so that Alex and the two of them could hike/walk while I went for a quick run. With Zoe coming home in a couple hours, that did not leave me a lot of time.

I put the shoes on and nearly cried. Between myself, the store manager who retrieved the shoes for me and the cashier... we all had neglected to see that one shoe was a size 8 and the other a size 7. I called the store. :headache:

My hope was that they could let Steve (who doesn't work far from them) pick up the other correct shoe and allow him to bring home that night. Otherwise I would be looking at another week to get it sorted out.

Instead, they said they would drive the shoe to me. :cool1: The thing was they had to find the shoe. Once they did, I was already on my way to the trail. I set up a time to meet them after my run though.

So I ran the trail while the others walked it. Oh my heavens it was hot!! HOT  I don't think a normal person would consider it so, but I am such a baby when it comes to running in warm weather. How am I going to train for a CA half marathon this summer??? I enjoyed the run even though it was a little more taxing that I would have liked. Not only was I warm, but my choice in foods for the day (eating on the run so lots of fast food...just all crap) was a bad idea. Lets just say I was able to enjoy the taste of my jamocha shake the entire run. :crazy2: It was still a fun run though.

Saturday was the 5k. OMG hills! What is up with all 5k's needing to have a hilling course?? There were over 400 people in this race so it was a bit more congested than I like for small town events. Steve was worried he would get trampled (since males who run in the events put on by this promoter tend to be wicked fast) so asked that we hang back at the start. I really need to start to listen to my gut more. I had a feeling this was going to be a challenge for me. It was. I spent all of the first mile passing people...dodging them. It was rough on a narrow pathway. We were all pretty packed together as we ran. At one point I noticed a gal with her shoes untied and as I got closer I watched as people near her were almost stepping on them. I was so concerned! If this happened she would stubble and take out the entire pack!! So as I moved up and got next to her I let her know what was happening. Just as I did... someone slowed right in front of me. I had a near miss myself and had to jump off the trail to avoid slamming right into this person. By about mile 2, it got a little less congested. I still was passing people, but I had room to do so. Some of the hills were just brutal on this. I ran each of them though. So I was proud of that. The last one just before the finish was an elevation change of 54 feet over about 2 tenths of a mile. Very few people ran up that. I not only did, but in looking at RK I did a good job maintaining my pace. This was not my best or worst 5k.

It was pretty rough for Steve. His chrons is really giving him trouble and his pain level is pretty high. He still finished it though! I think he was not happy with his results though. I get it. At first I was very ":headache: I should have done better. I know I can pull off a better pace" But it was very hilly and there were more people to contend with.

We had Zoe and Alex tag along. I was not sure what the plan would be for Zoe until the night before. Kira had talked about doing a different 5k with her and so I never registered her for anything.

Want some pics?

The look on my face is "when are you going to take the picture, Zoe???"

Just a bit of the crowd shot.

Steve's finish. And yes... he was beat by that little guy.

That is great customer service for the store to do that!

Tight courses suck! I fear that will be the case on the course I'm running in April. Sorry you had all the troubles trying to pass people.

Goal of 4 runs accomplished. Total distance 15.4 miles pace of 8:57.

That is a fine week! You do not need more than that right now

I had a pretty good week too though as always a bit slower than you, 18.1 miles @ 9:18 average pace. That warm Wednesday was a total adjustment for sure. My shortest run of the week at 3.51 miles and my slowest. We will acclimate to spring as we have more of these days for sure, but you are right it can definitely impact pace especially when it is a bit abrupt like that. We had a run a week or so ago that we were SO overdressed for, we both almost melted down. This one was better but there were moments I was wishing for shorts and a tank and it wasn't "that" nice out. LOL! I hear you though, I think we both were grinning on friday, it was PERFECT running weather and even on weds where it was so warm, oh it was nice out. We've tweaked our route too for the longer runs and it is so pretty, the extra part we are running, that it's just so lovely. :goodvibes Part of me is still grinning as my new glasses make me so happy. Although annoyed that I've not heard back from the manufacturer.

I don't know how well this week will be, am really contemplating not running today at all with everything that is going on. We will see.

How did the shoes do on the 5K? I really hope Steve starts feeling better :worried:

Hills and crowds, that part does NOT sound like fun. Yikes on loose shoelaces. Any fun food, tees or bling after?

It was certainly not something I expected. However this store is completely worth it to me in regards to the service I get. I drive at least 30 minutes if not 45 to get there. So while I didn't expect this... it didn't surprise me. They are great people there who always know my size when I walk in the door. They are fun and encouraging. I think it helps that I am a good customer too. I spend too much money there (although I am sure not nearly as much as some people can and do) and I also am fairly agreeable. In other words... I didn't call up accusing them of wrong doing. I didn't get upset. I just nicely told them how excited I was and how unfortunately.. they were two different shoes and I was now sad.

Tight courses suck! I fear that will be the case on the course I'm running in April. Sorry you had all the troubles trying to pass people.

They do! Add in congestion and it is definitely not the most fun. However, I did manage to pass people just fine. I just had to bob and weave a bit.

That is a fine week! You do not need more than that right now

Thank you. I definitely need to sit down and find a training schedule for the half in August. We have like 23 weeks so I figure there is no immediate rush. However, I know how time goes for me and if I don't get one in place now I will likely be scrambling later.

I had a pretty good week too though as always a bit slower than you, 18.1 miles @ 9:18 average pace.

That is so awesome!! It is going to be a new experience for me in August. I am the one waiting for Steve at the finish line each race. Something tells me though...unless we stick together that YOU will be waiting for me at the finish. I know... you look at it like my training is faster (but only ever so slight) and so it won't be the case... ... but I do not anticipate being faster during the race than you. I will be slow. ;)

That warm Wednesday was a total adjustment for sure. My shortest run of the week at 3.51 miles and my slowest. We will acclimate to spring as we have more of these days for sure, but you are right it can definitely impact pace especially when it is a bit abrupt like that.

You are right... I bet that once we are able to acclimate to the warmer weather it won't be quite such a shock to the pace. Honestly though, even though my pace may have suffered a tad... I didn't care. It was so nice out and I am so sick of being wet with the rain. I just really wanted to run and enjoy myself...because ultimately I do enjoy running.

We had a run a week or so ago that we were SO overdressed for, we both almost melted down. This one was better but there were moments I was wishing for shorts and a tank and it wasn't "that" nice out.

I think we both ran that same day (or around it) where we over dressed. Being accustom to a jacket when running it is a change when you lose it to go to a long sleeve tee...but to need to go to a short sleeve is quite the adjustment. Thursday, I definitely had moment where I wanted a tank. I was wearing a skirt with no tights though...

I found myself literally smiling on a couple occasions during my runs this week. I know I must look like a crazy person when I am huffin and puffin and grinnin... but to enjoy a run in beautiful weather is just something I am taking such joy in. You know what you mentioned about being selfish... well, this is one area I have been able to be. When I run.. I can smile and be happy and have it be all about me.

And you still haven't hear back???!!! :headache: But they seem to not be giving you too much trouble?

I don't know how well this week will be, am really contemplating not running today at all with everything that is going on. We will see.

Not having gone as far last week, I really contemplated running today. Normally I take it off. (or use it as a back up if I can't get Saturday in) I chose to take it off. Pretty rainy out... I hope you were able to stay dry if you did go out for a run!

How did the shoes do on the 5K?

OMG! I totally forgot to mention that. While I did and will miss the sock like upper that the boost had...that nike free have... the pure flow 3 is so light and the one thing I missed in the boosts were the lat bands. LOVE the lat bands in pure flows. It was only 3 mile run in them, but I would say these are going to work just fine. My low back that gave me trouble after thursdays run didn't at all bug me. I think that when the midsole loses its resiliency it doesn't provide enough shock absorption and my back suffers. So I think all and I am am very hopeful that these will be my shoes for the near future. Still considering purchasing a second pair of the original boosts as they come down in price. I just have to wait while my bank account recovers from 2 race registrations and a one way flight during last months billing cycle.

really hope Steve starts feeling better :worried:

Thanks! You and me both.

Hills and crowds, that part does NOT sound like fun. Yikes on loose shoelaces. Any fun food, tees or bling after?

Hills, crowds and the shoelaces made for a bad combination. The teeis a nice one... just a horrid color (yellow... like violent yellow with a green 4 leaf clover on it) no bling (well, kids get actual medals. I wish adults did ) I am not sure on the food. There was the usual bagels, bananas and oranges...oh and some popcorn. However not sure about anything else. We originally thought we would go to the race sponsor or the brewery after the race. Then we decided to take Zoe and Alex and promised breakfast at the Original Pancake House. So we didn't stick around very long.

Not knowing anything about running, etc., it sounds to me like you had a good week despite the screw up with the shoes and the rainy weather.

Not knowing anything about running, etc., it sounds to me like you had a good week despite the screw up with the shoes and the rainy weather.

:thumbsup2 I did. I feel very good about how the week went even though I didn't see improvement. I physically felt pretty good so I will take that as a win.:goodvibes

Great week overall!

Wow, amazing customer service from your running store! That is so awesome. And it sounds like these shoes are working out so far?! I hope they continue to work for you, sounds like it has been frustrating.

Speaking of frustrating...your 5K. Yikes! Sounds like you had a good race despite some challenges! :cool1:

The store is awesome! I already felt like they went above and beyond... this just solidifies that.

And so far so good on the shoes. I think I would be surprised if they didn't work out. They seem to have everything I loved about the original... none of the things I hated about the 2's. Now they pods on the bottom are in a different place.. so that is the ONLY thing I could see causing me trouble.

It was a good race. I love to be around other runners so it was fun just for that reason alone. However, yes... I should know I need to put myself to the middle of the crowd at least.

I have never been anything but pleased with RR. Even over something as silly as a dead blinkie before it's time and reflective bands that got bent out of shape. They took them all back without question. I felt disloyal getting my shoes elsewhere but I couldn't beat the price. RR does have the old model back in again at a good price but Amazon still beat it by $5. The changes for the new model actually sound like really good ones but I can't justify paying almost twice as much to try them out tempting as it may be. At least not at the moment. However, I will need to decide if maybe I do want to try them for the half as I will definitely need new ones again. I figure 440 was definitely too many miles, I am thinking that 350 is probably about right. Which "could" be right where I am at for the half. Biggest change is it is a full half ounce lighter. Which could be awfully nice in the heat. It also has a new midsole which is allegedly more cushioned, also could be nice. So the question is, do I buy another "old" model for $70 or just wait until August and try out the new lighter one for $110. $40 bucks is 40 bucks! Of course they could come down in price by then.

They do! Add in congestion and it is definitely not the most fun. However, I did manage to pass people just fine. I just had to bob and weave a bit.

Ok, I am probably lame but I'm not sure that I will do (much of) a training plan. Right now my plan consists of planning to run 3x a week, with the weekday ones at 45-60 minutes and however far that takes me and then the Sunday one 6+ miles. The + will ramp up as we get closer and I'll likely so some kind of 6/7/6/8/6/9/6/10/6/11/6/12/6/13 schedule. I really am not sure I'll run more than 13 but you never know. Will definitely play it by ear.

It won't be set in stone though as some of those 6 weeks I might feel like going 7 or 8, I am really enjoying that distance right now. Still though, if I did that and allowed then for 2 weeks of taper, it's an 16 week schedule or 14 if I really start it at the 9 mile long run which is really what makes more sense. So, that would be around May 4th for a start on the long run ramp. Which could work. I'll have to move it around a little as we have an 8K on the 18th but in general I think that's what I will be looking at.

That is so awesome!! It is going to be a new experience for me in August. I am the one waiting for Steve at the finish line each race. I know... you look at it like my training is faster (but only ever so slight) and so it won't be the case... ... but I do not anticipate being faster during the race than you. I will be slow. ;)

:rotfl: we will see, I truly doubt that (that you will be slow and I will not) and I think we may be able to stick together, we can definitely play it by ear but there is a decent chance of it for sure! Jeff is always waiting for me but at least now I keep up with him for a good half mile before he books it. :rotfl:

I am not as consistent in my pace though as you are, on a bit of a bell curve these days most of the time it seems.

Thursday, I definitely had moment where I wanted a tank. I was wearing a skirt with no tights though...

That day (a week ago friday) the sun really broke out during our run. It was after my ortho appointment and I took the rest of the day as a sick day. We both had on tights and long sleeves. TOTAL melt down.

You should be selfish in this area, at the end of the day it's a singular sport and you need to do it in the way that makes you happiest!

And you still haven't hear back???!!! :headache: But they seem to not be giving you too much trouble?

Not too much, slight red spots after, which could be allergy, could simply be pressure. They "stick" to you more when you sweat, on purpose so they don't slip. So it could be just that. Not really itchy which is good

Not having gone as far last week, I really contemplated running today. Normally I take it off. (or use it as a back up if I can't get Saturday in) I chose to take it off. Pretty rainy out... I hope you were able to stay dry if you did go out for a run!

It was nasty. We both blew it off. Me due to shoulder, neck, overall soreness, nasty weather and the fact that doing my taxes made me want a glass of wine far more than a run. LOL! I figured I needed the day of rest more.

That said, I am going to try to do my long one tonight which is a bit of work to shoehorn it in. The 15K is 2 weeks from this past Saturday so I'm not sure I want any of the runs after today to really be longer than 4-6 but would like one longer one in. Not sure I'll have enough time to hit 9 but am going to try.

OMG! I totally forgot to mention that. While I did and will miss the sock like upper that the boost had...that nike free have... the pure flow 3 is so light and the one thing I missed in the boosts were the lat bands. I just have to wait while my bank account recovers from 2 race registrations and a one way flight during last months billing cycle.

That is cool, my lower back has been a bit sore too, and it never is. I figured it was from increased mileage though as I still have it after the new shoes. Not horrible and really it could also be from not sleeping as well as normal thanks to the dumb shoulder and neck.

Hills, crowds and the shoelaces made for a bad combination. The teeis a nice one... just a horrid color (yellow... like violent yellow with a green 4 leaf clover on it) no bling (well, kids get actual medals. That's a bit obnoxious! Supposedly we get a "tech" hat at the 15k, I will be curious to see what that looks like.

I spent half my morning coordinating coverage for the E's for the 15K, what a pain. It really would be easier if we were driving up that morning, though it will make for a better race since we are not. Then again, after doing taxes yesterday, Jeff may change his mind.

$40 is $40! I am sad to not run in my boosts...but these are really almost as good and they were $43 less. That makes me happy. As for what to do... I kinda feel like if you wait till August you will be purchasing the new ones just because the old ones may be hard to find.

Ok, I am probably lame but I'm not sure that I will do (much of) a training plan. I think it definitely sounds like you have a plan. :thumbsup2 I just need to have some direction so that I don't flounder...even if it is just recognizing that I will be taking up mileage.

For whatever reason (probably heat and humidity as well as distance) I tend to run the disney races much slower than any other races. My best was the donald with a finish time of 2:17:xx. That gave me a 10:29 pace. My goal for the dlh is to come in between 2:00 and 2:15. We can definitely play it by ear and talk more about things. I do feel pretty sure that we can at least start together. I would be surprised if we were not in the same corral.

I am not as consistent in my pace though as you are, on a bit of a bell curve these days most of the time it seems.

I have good days and bad days.

Sun helps!

It does!

Not too much, slight red spots after, which could be allergy, could simply be pressure. They "stick" to you more when you sweat, on purpose so they don't slip. So it could be just that. Not really itchy which is good

Not really itchy is probably good... but red spots not so much. Do they go away shortly after you are not wearing them? Or do they linger?

It was nasty. We both blew it off. Me due to shoulder, neck, overall soreness, nasty weather and the fact that doing my taxes made me want a glass of wine far more than a run. LOL! I figured I needed the day of rest more.

It was nasty!!! I was glad to not run. Today I was hesitant. The air has a different chill in it. The snow level came down a bit... and it has off an on hailed/sleeted. Yuck!

AND Yuck on taxes! I am a play with numbers sort of gal.. but somehow these numbers have not been my friend for the last few years.. so they are not fun to play with. Definitely warranting a glass of wine!

That said, I am going to try to do my long one tonight which is a bit of work to shoehorn it in. If it helps.. the way I do my tapers is this - 14 to 7 days before the race I run 75% of the mileage that I normally run. Then 7 to race day I run just 25%. I don't really do a taper for anything but the larger runs... I would count the 15k as a larger run.

That is cool, my lower back has been a bit sore too, and it never is. I figured it was from increased mileage though as I still have it after the new shoes. Not horrible and really it could also be from not sleeping as well as normal thanks to the dumb shoulder and neck.

I think there are so many factors to back ache at our age... older shoes, increased mileage or just plain sleeping wrong. Ugh... I hate this getting older bit.

That's a bit obnoxious! Supposedly we get a "tech" hat at the 15k, I will be curious to see what that looks like.

You should post a picture for sure!

I like how the runsnoqualmie shirts fit. I also know what last years shirt looked like (they had extras from the year that they sold at the Turkey Trot in November. It was so cool... and I was hoping it would be similar. It was... only that color... that very very obnoxious color. Steve said he will not ever wear his. I will.. probably at some point...

I hope you got it figured out and that Jeff doesn't change his mind. ;)

I've been so neglectful of your reports, but I just saw the link to this after noticing a post on the events board. So you ARE doing Avengers, eh?

Sounds like I have, oh, a day to make my own decision about that... (though for me, since it would be for DS, it would just be the 5K and thank goodness as I am not sure I'll ever be up to running Halfs two weekends in a row!)

Saint Patty's day runs look fun! So much green! I had parades all weekend so I ran around my house on Saturday and Sunday. It just felt to go outside and run. I am totally done with the treadmill. I switched over to the elliptical. Right now I am just looking forward to getting out on my bike. Soon. Hopefully soon.

Very pretty shoes. I have such wide feet that I can only wear Asics. I buy the same two pairs over and over again and they are starting to look so darn BORING.

Keep up the good work.

I love being outside. I am not sure I could handle much treadmill stuff. In fact, I am pretty sure why I have never been able to stick with any exercise regimen.. if it is inside, I get bored. Hopefully soon you can get outside!

Very pretty shoes. I have such wide feet that I can only wear Asics. I buy the same two pairs over and over again and they are starting to look so darn BORING.

Thanks! I like them. The brooks have a pretty large toe box. The boost have a sock like upper (so it totally stretches) I don't so much have wide feet... pretty average in fact. However I have bunions that can get pretty unhappy if I don't have room for them. I have a pair of asics... I just never wear them. I think I probably have less than 10 miles on them. I won them... so I didn't feel like I should take them back to exchange. I am impressed you can buy the same two over and over. I seem to find the best shoe and then the manufacturer goes and changes it. Course... it happened with my brooks about a year ago. I switched to the adidas and not they did it and I am back to the brooks. Maybe next years model will have me back in the adidas

Keep up the good work.

Thanks!

$40 is $40! I am sad to not run in my boosts...but these are really almost as good and they were $43 less. That makes me happy. As for what to do... I kinda feel like if you wait till August you will be purchasing the new ones just because the old ones may be hard to find.

Yeah, I know. We will see, I may buy a pair in May or June if they are still available but if the new model drops in price then maybe I won't. I do like the idea of a half an ounce lighter.

I think it definitely sounds like you have a plan. :thumbsup2 I just need to have some direction so that I don't flounder...even if it is just recognizing that I will be taking up mileage.

I have zero concerns that you will flounder :lmao:

For whatever reason (probably heat and humidity as well as distance) I tend to run the disney races much slower than any other races. My best was the donald with a finish time of 2:17:xx. That gave me a 10:29 pace. My goal for the dlh is to come in between 2:00 and 2:15. We can definitely play it by ear and talk more about things. I do feel pretty sure that we can at least start together. I would be surprised if we were not in the same corral.

Very likely to be in the same corral I would think and that's about where I hope to be on finish time as well. I really have no idea how the 15k will shake out, it will be interesting. I do honestly expect it to be quite a bit slower than my 10K was, it's more a matter of how much. I know where I want it to be at a minimum and that should be possible but the adductor is a bit of a wrinkle. I am bringing it up at my PT re-eval today. It's just SO frustrating as all the stuff I used to be able to do in pilates, that kept that area strong, that I've given up thanks to the neck...would have totally avoided this happening I think.

Even if it really was due to the shoes. Which is very probably a huge factor as is possibly my left side not being as strong as it should be to share the load.

I have good days and bad days.

Definitely, me too

Not really itchy is probably good... but red spots not so much. Do they go away shortly after you are not wearing them? Or do they linger?

so far they are not lingering

It was nasty!!! I was glad to not run. Today I was hesitant. The air has a different chill in it. The snow level came down a bit... and it has off an on hailed/sleeted. Yuck!

There was a significant chill in the air. As a result I overdressed a bit. I also wanted to make sure I kept the quads and adductors plenty warm. Sadly, while they didn't bother me during the day, I felt the right adductor again while running. Not horrible, not enough to make me stop but most definitely enough to make me paranoid and not remotely push it at all. Shins hurt a little after but I can't help wondering if my stride is off as I try to protect that adductor a bit. I don't think it's an actual strain though, it's just not that severe (no swelling, not painful to the touch...unless it's deep tissue massage lol, not really noticing it much after running) but of course I don't want it to turn into one!

AND Yuck on taxes! I am a play with numbers sort of gal.. but somehow these numbers have not been my friend for the last few years.. so they are not fun to play with. Definitely warranting a glass of wine!

Yeah....Jeff is supposed to have some extra taken out of his check each year, starting in about August and it seems each year he magically forgets. It would have been a lot worse but we refinanced and as a result had extra taxes and interest at closing which helped mitigate thank goodness. Still it wasn't a fun number at the end of the day but could have been a lot worse. I seriously almost had a heart attack when I actually looked at his W2 as I could tell immediately we had an issue. Not going to risk it this year, I told him he had to average it out over the year so neither of us have to worry about him forgetting again! Which means I need to check in and make sure he turned in a new W4 lol!

If it helps.. the way I do my tapers is this - 14 to 7 days before the race I run 75% of the mileage that I normally run. Then 7 to race day I run just 25%. I don't really do a taper for anything but the larger runs... I would count the 15k as a larger run.

Too much math :lmao: Seriously though. I had hoped to do 9 on sunday. That didn't happen and it was the right thing given my adductor but it still bums me out. I figured last night was my last chance to squish it in just based on race timing. There simply wasn't enough time available with kid running around stuff for me to fit one that long in and honestly with the adductor that is probably for the best :worried:. While I don't "need" to have run the 9.32 miles to be able to do it and I'm not worried about being able to hit the distance, it would have been nice mentally. In the past month I've had 3 in the 7.5-8.5 range and that will just have to be enough. I got 6.5 in, not terribly pretty and most certainly slow but I really didn't want to make the adductor worse. Hopefully between tapering and therapy it will be fine for the race. Right now I am probably looking at only 4 runs between now and the race and 4-6 for the 1st 2 and then 4 for the last one depriving on how much time and what day I have for the run this week, plus how it is feeling.

I think there are so many factors to back ache at our age... older shoes, increased mileage or just plain sleeping wrong. Ugh... I hate this getting older bit.

Yeah, it's a major drag!

You should post a picture, now I am curious! I hope it's a cute hat. Jeff really needs a tech one. I have one but if it's cute, I'll swap out for sure! Looks like it may be yellow so it could go either way.

I hope you got it figured out and that Jeff doesn't change his mind. ;)

Yes, it's complicated though. My nephew has a "man only" poker party that night. Evan had told me that my sister had offered that they could spend then night after. Which wasn't exactly the case given that it's not her weekend with her kids. My folks leave for NOLA the next day so the timing is less than ideal. But they are going to help anyway thank goodness. It will make for a less stressful experience for me for sure.

The boost two are said to be about a half ounce lighter than the original, but when we weighed my old one verses the new...it was the original that was lighter. I think that the difference in weight is what threw me off.

I have zero concerns that you will flounder :lmao:

I don't know... without a plan, I find myself not feeling like I HAVE to go out. and this is the conversation that ends up playing in my head.

Well, I hope that you get some help at PT!

I quickly (maybe too quickly) blame shoes... but yes, if one side is not as strong.. blam And... road. You can't forget road. I wear my shoes on one side of each shoe. (right most on each shoe) It is like I hit the ground at and angle like \ Pretty sure that I am compensating for the grade and in turn that puts extra wear on my joints.

so far they are not lingering

That is good! :thumbsup2

I would probably worry about compensation... you hurt one way so you over compensate. For me, I think this has led to most of my painful periods.

Yeah, that was me too... I looked and thought "oh no!" I am putting it off...I need to get it done, but like you... I figure it won't be a fun number.

I dont' think you need to get that 9 in either. I think the 7.5 and 8.5 more than got you close enough. You will do great! I will cross my fingers and pray that the adductor doesn't give you trouble.

It is still in the laundry right now... once it is out though, I will be sure to take a picture. :goodvibes

Decisions.....

So I almost have a room booked for each race. DLH, Avengers, ToT.. even the Donald is booked... has been, but I have not posted about it because it is my "home resort, just in case" booking. I just have to have a room booked for the PHM... and today could be my booking window (if I add the night of the 18th). Problem is I have NO idea who would be going with me. Steve is almost to the point with this new flare that he is going to seek treatment. (which could mean a hard road ahead) He isn't running much. (just those two races in the last two weeks) So that has me concerned that I am pushing him to sign up for the avengers (tomorrow assuming we can get early registration) then the donald (which his is the one pushing for that) and then for the phm. 3 halfs? I am just not sure he will be up for it. Now, the first two are ones he wanted to do for himself. The phm? Well, that one would be for me. It also would just be a 4 or 5 night trip. I could see that just not being too much for him. If I flew down by myself I could take a red eye and sleep. Then wake in the morning when the plane landed and force myself into the east coast time much faster. With him... it is likely we would drag that out. The flight would get us there feeling like it was not that late (because he does not do red eyes).... which means no one would fall to sleep at a good time... then sleep in too late... I know this cycle. I really don't want to do it for such a short trip. I could if he were really up for it... but I don't want to push him in doing a race when just the travel alone will be a challenge.

So I have been looking at my membership page off and on today... thinking.

Whats the worst that can happen if I book and then have to add or delete people from the reservation? What if it is only myself going down? I know I can do the parks solo... maybe I want to? I know I could probably find a friend to tag along... but a short trip do I want to? Again, maybe I want to go just alone.. or maybe not at all?

So... I have been thinking....

I do want to attempt to do the phm every other year. I had kinda decided on that. Since I didn't do it this year, that means I really want to for 2015.

So... I have been thinking.....

Then there is the cost. One race registration at a time doesn't so much kill me. It is doable. Avengers tomorrow... then donald next month and finally phm in July. This isn't so bad and the fact I don't plan to do the challenges helps. (so I am not looking at $500 or something..just the half registration) Still... 3 to pay for along with 3 flights adds up in the end. I don't really look at food cause I have to eat no matter where I am and well, we spend more than we should on food here. I also would not have tickets or hotel costs. So really I am looking at the added cost of one race registration and flight for myself and possibly Steve.

So... I have been thinking....

I am not sure why I am thinking about this so much. It shouldn't be that complicated a decision. Noodle...don't noodle.....

So maybe I am off to book my room for the phm. It would ensure I have a room for each race....

Maybe it is just my hesitation with how points work. I would have to borrow agains the next years points.. but not by that much. What happens if I then cancel? Borrowed points are brought into that year that the reservation is in. (so for the phm 2015, I would borrow 2015 points for the booking in my 2014 UY)... would I then loose them? I dont' think so, right? They would just need to be banked. My head is spinning... I am sure Cynthia can answer this...or confirm. So those points would then be 2014 points and would need to be banked by July 2015. (which is after the phm) But since I will have the ToT 2015 trip to book, I should be able to use those to book without banking. Right?

I'm sorry to hear about Steve's continued flare up. I hope he is better soon.

I can't answer on the points. We are just now starting to look into buying points and I'm totally confused by the whole process.
