Twelve Months of Training and Travel

It has been decided. My friend and I ARE doing the PHM in Feb. I will NOT be running this one. The friend I am going with has had some serious health issues and her doctor has given her permission to walk this one. I had made a promise to her a while ago that I would walk it with her when she was ready to go. We are gonna register tonight (both have AP's). So looks like we will have to plan something to meet up in Feb!

That stinks! :worried: I hope you're able to get it back into working condition. Stuff like that really worries me with the SparkleSkirts, so I don't have any of the special sparkly ones - all of the ones I have are the "basic" ones, so they do okay in the washer.

I will post a pic for sure once I fix her up. Just cross your fingers the glitter is actually the color that it appeared to be on my computer screen. It definitely has changed my thoughts though. I am hoping to stick more with just the ones I can abuse. ;)

Ooooooh...pretty! I don't think you can tell at all!

You really can't. But she really is shedding. I ran in her and she was great.. and because of the shedding and the fact I didn't pay full price for her I am more inclined to run in her often and not treat her so gently.

I think you're absolutely right. They must not have been selling that many. :confused3 It seems not to matter too much for say, SS and RT, but SB must have been feeling the pressure to run more sales. Fine by me!

I like the sales that RT has been having too... I will take a sale. Wish that SS would have one. The best I see there is their endangered... and often they don't have but one or two sizes for those skirts.

Assuming it is a good one at Trader Sam's, I am totally in. :thumbsup2 I know the one I had at Hungry Bear did not make me long for another one there.

The lighting inside is very difficult from a picture standpoint but...

1/3 lb Angus Hawaiian Cheeseburger
Ground Angus Burger with Teriyaki Sauce, fresh Caramelized Pineapple, Havarti Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato on a Multigrain Bun served with Sweet Potato Fries, Classic French Fries, Island Fruit or Tropical Slaw

SOOOOOOOOOOOO good!

Especially with this

Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum
Reserve Rum, Cream of Coconut and Pineapple and Orange Juices dusted with Cinnamon and Nutmeg

:goodvibes

I really really love my comicrelief skirt. I will be honest...that thing gets worn and tossed in the wash and then in the dryer. Not ideal...but it holds up. I think athletic wear should hold up. I guess that is my issue with the more fancy ones. Maybe they are not meant to be worn to run in? I know a lot of people on the fb group wear them to even work. I got the mimosa skirt used (but only worn once). I paid less then new for it. (amazingly a lot the skirts go for the cost of new with the seller paying shipping) It still wasn't cheap... most expensive running item I have purchased next to shoes and the cwx tights. Such a bummer that I washed all the sparkle off. I am really anxiously waiting for the glitter to come so I can try and fix it.

Sparkly ones to work???? I am actually wearing an Athleta skort to work today but it's very much a casual skirt, not one I'd run in at all. Mine is navy which I think helps dress it up a little.

And to be honest I've never worn it before (to work) and feel a little odd but know one knows it's a skort but me lol. Super comfy.

I will be down in Tukwila next Friday, let me know if you have any time to hook up!

I actually think even the sparkle ones look fine for work. People send in their pictures and I think they look great. I think the skirt/skort you have on works well too.

Fridays always work for me. :goodvibes

I don't think I could get away with wearing a sparkle skirt at work; but I work in a different type of environment working manufacturing.

Yay for getting registered for PHM!

Yeah, we are not allowed to wear skirts or open toed shoes to keep us "safe" but also jeans are not allowed because we are still suppose to "dress up" When I have to crawl around on the floor... I may or may not break the "no jeans" rule. :rolleyes1
Yay for getting registered for PHM!

Remind me... are you dong the phm?

I thought you'd approve!

There is no way I could wear a sparkly one too work. beyond the fact (for me) I'd feel really silly, it just wouldn't fly in my line of work and industry.

YAY!

You know I am going to be following your PTR a lot closer now that I am officially registered for the PHM! Nervous, but excited. I just hope they have lots of bathrooms at the start and on the course! :rotfl:

I machine wash and dry all my sparkleskirts...but I don't have any of the fancy ones. I do have some with sparkles, but they aren't the glittery-sparkle kind and those stay on better (peacocks). Hands down my favorites are the ones with no sparkle so I can wear them training over and over and they do not wear down! :thumbsup2

Well, to be clean and fair I don't think they are the fancy kinds with all the glitter or sequins. So I do think they look pretty sharp. I think honestly if I were able to at work I probably would just for comfort issues alone when the weather is like it is right now.

Yep, just let me know when and where. :goodvibes

I am so glad you registered! It will be so fun to see you! So Denny is going to be there to cheer you on, right?

I am with you on that. I am drawn to the sparkly ones... think they are super pretty. I just need to be able to abuse them a tad. The pink one I got recently sheds all the time. I was finding sparkles even on dh yesterday all day after my run. Course I am finding that one is a great size (remember my  at the one I got and how big it seemed in some areas?) so I have been wearing her a lot on my runs... but given I didn't pay "full price" for her I am not worried about the shedding. Still have to hand wash though... and that is a pain.

I can only wear jeans on Friday.

I love having to lift product covered in grease some days when I'm wearing the nice stuff but it pays the bills!

I thought about doing PHM but it's too much financially this month with having done the rebel challenge purchase last month, my birthday trip and the cruise in 7 weeks. We are doing the wine and dine though so we can get our coast to coast.

That makes sense! I about died the month I had two races to register for in a month.

Well I am officially registered for the PHM! I am debating on seeing if I can upgrade to the GSC so I can have a "good" time for the 10K and a "personal worst" on the half. My friend is so excited. She says having this out in front of her is helping her think past her surgery in less than 2 weeks. She is afraid they won't give her a medal if she walks it. I told her as long as she finishes she gets one whether she walks or not. Ill carry her piggy back if I have to.....actually that could be a fun photo finish lol.

I am so excited that you will be there! I am not sure that you can upgrade... you could always add the 10k.. Hope I am wrong though!

I think it will be so cool for your friend. She will get a medal no matter what...even if she doesn't finish. Sounds like that won't be an issue though with you there to motivate/carry her ;)

So just a couple things to note in regards to my upcoming trips.

One - I have been buying things at Target that have gift card offers. Basically, I buy something I normally would or something I will use and earn a Target GC. I have been saving them up to put towards a Disney GC. I had decided I would do so once I had $45 in Target GC's that way I could still get a small discount by using my Target debit card. So I finally had enough and for $4.75 I purchased my first $50 disney gc. :woohoo: I have only been doing this for a short time so I am wondering if I continue this how many I will be able to accumulate.

Two - In registering for the phm, the DVC discount was not working properly. Rather than risk not getting in on registration I went ahead and registered (as did many people) without it. Then (again like many)I sent an email to RunDisney to report the issue. Well, I am excited that I received an email staying they would be refunding me the amount of the discount. :woohoo:

Three - I made some ADRS, got some race costumes settled on, am on my way to having a MNSSHP outfit and have an outline for plans for August.. I will have some updates soon for all of these things. :goodvibes

How does this work? I've never heard of this before. Do you have to have a Target debit card?

Yep, I just had a check from my bank and they set it up right there at the register (when I did it). Basically then it works like a debit from your checking account. You get 5% off on purchases. SOOO you an buy Disney gift cards at 5% off. Not a huge savings...but 5% is 5%.

What was nice was the fact you can also use Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards. It wasn't that hard to do. I just focused on buying things that I knew we would use or needed that were having a special like buy 2 get a $x gift card. They added up pretty quickly. I could have probably waited and just got another $5 gift card to complete the $50...but I figured I would use the debit to get 5% off. Saved me a whopping .25 :rotfl2:

Still, $4.75 for a $50 gift card isn't too bad.

Love the Sparkle skirt. And in the picture it looks like new to me! I hope you can fix the other skirt. I also have only bought the basic fabric ones and I machine wash them. I'm lazy that way. :rotfl:

I've heard about doing the Target GC thing, but just have never messed with it. I really don't shop at Target that much because it's not conveniently located for me. But, so glad it worked for you and hopefully you can accumulate quite a number of the cards!! :thumbsup2

I did this for my last trip to Disneyland. Love Target!!!

I have thought about doing this but the reality is that the Target is not close to me, I almost never shop there and so I would be going out of my way to do it which makes no sense. I do purchase Disney GC's at Safeway and get gas points so depending on how many/much I do, it can add up. I also purchase them with the Disney Visa so there are double rewards that way. Last time I looked at it, it added up similar or a bit better to the Target Debit. But add in free gift cards and you totally win!

My credit is already on my account. :thumbsup2

OOH Costumes! I did get a new skirt, I'll be wearing it on Sunday for my long run, I don't know if it will change my mind (wear it for DL and save the yellow for Princess) but we will see. I didn't get it for costume reasons, just to have another one (and avoid leg chafing in the heat). If I change my mind... I'd then need a new top and if I got the yellow shoes it wouldn't match :rotfl2:
