I called and politely asked to speak with billing. I discussed my phone/cable/Internet bundle contract has ended and the price went up $20.00. I mentioned I was being wooed by other cable offers but had been happy with their service but wondered if any promotions would be available. Yes, I was! No change in plan but $37.50 less a month for the next year ($450.00 a year savings). :woohoo: No contract so I can drop services with no penalty. :goodvibes It definitely paid to call and ask.

definately, we called ATT and they also knocked $20 off our bill :thumbsup2 I'm calling Dish Network next

So happy for you!!! I'll call tomorrow.

I tried with Comcast and they said no. stupid comcast,I explained nicely that I liked the service, but wasn;t going to pay more money, and I'd have to go to the hassle of switching. They said go ahead. so I did. Glad you had better luck with yours.

Hi Tink

Can I ask what the monthly fee for that package is now? I also have TWC, probably the same package.

I am hoping the increase next year won't be too bad.

It might work if they have specials available but sometimes they don't. If they say no don't yell at the CSR - they can only do what they are allowed to. That goes for the supervisor if you go there too.

This includes HBO, Showtime and Movie Channel, a DVR box and over 200 channels. It was 178.00, increased to 198.00 at end of 1 year contract and lowered to 161.00 roughly with 1st payment smaller with a hurricane deduction because it was out for about 60 hours. My numbers aren't exact because I'm on my bicycle and scared to lose my momentum by stopping, lol!
(I want to drop enough weight to abate my guilt over scarfing the Roaring Forks waffle menu every day in my December trip.)

I totally agree. It was a very friendly call on both sides with no bargaining going on. I gave them great scores on the poll that I participated in at the end of the call. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

And SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH about those waffles! I am not telling Mr Muush about them!;)

Comcast did that to us a couple of years ago after offering us some bogus coupon saying since we were loyal customers we were going to save x amount a month but then they jacked up our price. Now at the same time they were offering new sign ups the exact same rate we had been paying I asked if we could forgo the coupon and remain at our price NOPE would not even consider it. Every rep said something different to me and all were basically rude, I finally lost my cool(and I don't do that very often) They could care less if we switched so to Verizon we went.

Now my husband has been laid off so we had called Verizon to see if we could get a little bit of a leeway. We have the second to the lowest package, they offered to switch us to the lowest package. Well the only problem is I work from home on my computer and in order to transfer my work back and forth I need a certain internet speed. If we drop down I will lose that speed so we are currently figuring out different options. My husband said "comcast" is offering a deal ----no WAY would I ever go back to comcast after my customer service experience with them!!

It is good to know there are nicer companies out there.

I was very friendly and polite to the Comcast rep I spoke too and was basically told to "pound sand". I ended up dropping all paid channels and keeping the basics and internet to lower my bill. I wish we had another choice but our town makes the choice for us. We can only use Comcast.

Direct tv does this all the time as well

Yes, but my experience with DirecTv is that they lower the price for a few months and then jack it back up so that you are constantly calling to have them lower it.
We played that game for about 12 months and then I dumped them.

I agree - "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.." (Or in my case, I simply do a lot of sighing over how I just can't afford the price that they're quoting..)

Of course things work a little differently for me because when I leave the lake in November, my cable/internet rolls over to the seasonal plan so I don't have to pay a connect and disconnect fee every year.. So the months I'm not here it's around $9.95 a month or so..

The "fun" begins when I come back in early to mid-April and I want it turned back on again.. Of course every year the price goes up on all of the packages and I have a "personal" line drawn in the sand that I won't go over for the price of cable and internet here.. (No phone package deals for me as I have to keep a land line for emergencies since the power goes out often and there's no cell phone service up here in no man's land..)

I usually get the Standard Plan with internet - one step above Basic because I need the Weather Channel.. This year it was considerably over my "line in the sand", so I started with the sighing and "aren't there any specials" - and "I'd hate to have to drop to Basic" and "Maybe I could just get the basic and give up the internet entirely" - etc., etc., etc.. It usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes of sighing, them clicking away on the computer "looking" for specials, putting me on "hold" (for who knows what), but in the end, I get cable and internet for what I'm willing to pay - one way or another.. ;)

You just have to be patient; polite; wishy-washy about staying with them; keep asking them to please check "just one more time"; (sighing deeply every time you make a request) - and before you know it, you'll have service (often times better than before - like I did this year, for less money) at a price that fits in your comfort/budget zone.. Once in awhile you may even have to call back 2 days in a row - several times a day - but as long as you don't get nasty, demanding, and rude, it pays off in the end.. (Or at least it always has with me..) :thumbsup2

They don't really want to lose you as a customer, so you just have to learn how to play the game..

Glad to see it worked out well for you, OP..:goodvibes

Our bundle w/TMC seems to come out to around $160 a month. I might drop something, or ask to see if they have any other packages. This is quite a high price tag.

I've never seen a price increase other than the usual annual one.

Credits may expire, causing price to go up....but never seen in 3 years a price increase other than the annual one.

Again, that only works if the people you are dealing with CAN do it. Obviously yours can.

Well done. :lmao:

What does this include?

I pay $142/month with comcast (including taxes) for cable/phone & internet. We have their lowest package ($129/mo) just went up from $99/month. This is no movie channels, no digital cable, nothing.....Comcast said the same thing to me as all the others ---- we can't do anything to lower your bill,no specials right now....augh!!! This is so crazy expensive...even if we drop the phone it only is about $5/mo less. Not worth it.
