Can anyone advise how much Tuxedo rental (via DCL) is for a 7-night Eastern? Thinking it might be easier than carting my suit from the UK to Orlando to port etc etc
Hi, I'm in the UK as well and have never taken my dinner suit on a cruise as it eats into our precious luggage allowance quite considerably. Instead, like most people, I use http://www.cruiselineformal.com/cf_pages/?c=dcl
There is a full explanation of the rental process and there is also a tailor on board who can make minor alterations and they carry a small selection of other sizes in case your requirements have slightly changed.
I haven't been on the disboards much lately so apologies if I am not allowed to post links.
I rented a suit with an extra white jacket and a pair of shoes for my Dad in November. DCL recommended Cruiseline Formalwear so I used them (see link in earlier reply). The price came to around $200. The service and communication was great. The person, I corresponded with, asked their tailor and got back immediately with answers to my questions about measurements. The suit looked great and it saved my Dad, who is 85, from having to bring his own from Denmark.
Just throwing it out there... if you own a tux, it would be cheaper to even pay for an extra bag on the airplane than to rent. Of course, renting may be less hassle.
I just wanted to say "kudos" for caring enough to go formal! Many people "dress up" on formal night, but not in full formal. I think it's lovely, and I find gentlemen in their kilts to be especially handsome onboard ship.
