6 adults going in January. we have a few picky eaters in the group so we thought a buffet would be a good option. We got an 8:05 reservation, in part because we want to be able to get right on the Safari and in part because we have a very early dinner reservation (4:05 BOG. All we could get) so we're planning on filling up for breakfast and skipping lunch, snacking if we need to. We were wondering if adults-only is weird for a character breakfast. Thats one thing we haven't done since the kids in the family were little, probably about 20 years since we last did a character meal. Are we going to be awkwardly out of place? anyone know how long it takes to be seated if you ask to skip the insanely overpriced photo?

And before the comments start, we know park hopping between AK and MK in the same day means skipping some rides/shows and is usually not advisable. We're former Orlando residents and have ridden and seen most everything attraction-wise so we're trimming our ticket days and attraction time in favor of trying a lot of the restaurants we've never been to. Thanks in advance!

I don't know if you'll be out of place but why care? Others aren't going to be looking at you. They're be too busy eatting and Interacting with characters to notice is you have kids or not. I am planning on going to many characters meals and I am 22 and my sister is 21. Some people might say its immature but The immaturest things are the funniest ;) you're in Disney and not hurting anyone so go for it :)

You definitely won't be out of place. The previous poster is right that other people will be too busy to notice you. But on top of that, there are adults at character meals and character meets all the time. It won't be strange at all.

When I was at Tusker House, there was no wait to have the photo taken, but there was a wait for the table, so I don't think skipping the photo will have an impact on your table wait time.

DH and my parents and I have eaten there for breakfast. We have done several adult only buffets and have never felt out of place. The characters do not spend as much time with us which is OK with me. I had rather them spend time with children there.

Personally, I don't care (I made the red after all), but the elder members of the family were concerned it was "kids only". I wanted back-up to show them it's fine. We agree the characters should spend time with the kids tables so we're totally fine not being visited or only being visited briefly. Thanks!

It is not a problem and will not be weird to anybody. I go to Tusker for almost every trip because the food there is amazing! It's my favorite breakfast. The characters will still visit your table and interact with you. The staff there is great as well.

The photo now is just taken at the wall of masks, so it doesn't take long. I once skipped the Donald Duck photo and it took just as long as we just had to wait at a bench. With an 8:05 ADR the wait should be minimal, especially if you are early.

One note, for the picky eaters you mentioned, the best food at Tusker is the African specialties, which are on one section of the buffet. The picky eaters may not like it, but there is a full section of standard American breakfast items, waffles, bacon, etc. so don't let them get scared off by the more exotic items.

It's not a problem at all. We (me, 29, and parents) went for breakfast early this morning, and didn't feel awkward. If you can, maybe catch the characters' handler(s) and mention to him or her (or them) that you're okay with your table getting no or a short visit from each character. The people in the costumes like visiting tables, and your table doesn't have children who will scream at or paw them. We mentioned to the handler that we were okay with the characters not visiting our table; she thanked us for our consideration, and then each character waved at us and we said hi as they passed by.

Early Tusker House is one of the best ways to get into AK early, when the animals are most active. Most visitors, especially veterans, are considerate of that fact. And, the food is good stuff (yum yum, donuts).

Edit: We skipped the photo this morning, too. We had the 8:05 reservation, we checked in at 8:04 and were in line at the buffet (drinks ordered) before 8:20. They're pretty swift.

Exactly! Or does one of you look just like Mickey? That's the only way anyone would notice you. I've been to the character breakfast at Tusker House twice-once as one of 6 adults, once entirely solo. Both times, I was not put in the main large room, but in a smaller attached room. No problem seeing the characters, and they did come to visit and interact with us. However, it was a little less loud than in the large, main room. Great meal, and as a matter of fact, this morning I was disappointed that I couldn't get an ADR for it next time we go to WDW.

This is my favorite AK restaurant, and I don't have kids. I really enjoy the character visits and the food there. It's great for lunch or breakfast.

This is all really good to know as I've just got my ADR for the morning I leave WDW. Booked in at 10.20 so I can have a bit of a lie in (or at least more of one) and hopefully it will be a bit quieter with people wanting to be on the rides by then

I do character dining all the time as adults only. Last trip, and the next trip in February consists of myself (29), my good friend (29), and my mom (would kill me if I put it) and we have a blast at character dinings. In fact in Feb we'll be going to Tusker House. They interact with kids and adults alike. And often times we'll see other adult-only parties at the meals, as well.

My DH and I have gone to Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's without any kids. The characters will stop by (if you don't say to pass you) and still interect with you. My favorite was when Tigger took our celebration confetti and dumped it all on my DH head. Go and enjoy! Everyone is a kid at Disney!
