I just went down to get the turkey out of our basement fridge and realized my teenage son put it in the freezer and not the fridge:sick::sick::mad::sad2::sad2:

If it was just my family I would of ran out and bought a ham for tomorrow but my aunt is the one cooking the Turkey for 14 people. I was just holding in at my house.

My husband is on the way to the Meat market to get a fresh one I am sure this is going to cost an easy $50 for this mistake.

Well look at it this way, you'll have a turkey for next time. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving. :goodvibes

Just put it in cold water it will defrost fine.

cold water bath method

immerse in cold water, making sure that the turkey is still packaged
change the water every 30 minutes
30 minutes per pound

Now that I have a seal a meal I defrost most my stuff this way.

I agree with everyone else, besides I think it is MUCH safer to do it this way--less time/chance for bacteria to develop.

Thanks everyone.. I just had to vent in my moment of panic.

He ended getting a fresh one.

I was to afraid to risk in no being fully defrosted in the morning.

This will teach me to put it away myself next time.

Now we will have a turkey for Christmas.

Just for the future, it would have been more than defrosted by morning-it only takes about 5-7 hours to do it that way depending on the size.
