Turkey Day Gang 2009

First, the T-Shirts are a great thing. They really help us identify each other. ( We did a pre-cruise meet ) at the Hyatt at MCO and that shirt held by Rob was the best !

I will post a couple of designs or we can go to a site and order them. I am up for anything.

wendy

WOW what a great memory you have:thumbsup2 We will be back at the Hyatt again this year, how about you guy's?

Rob

Hi all,

Wendy, thanks for posting that! I can never get photos to post (mostly because I've never taken the time to figure it all out). Wendy's post raises the issue of T-SHIRTS!

In 2007, we had a place in FL silkscreen them, send them to me and then I sent them out to everyone. Do we want to do that again or something different? Mind you, I am a good "coordinator" of things...but I have ZERO design skills.

So, Turkey Day Gang, what is your pleasure on t-shirts? Do as we did in 2007 (with a different color shirt?) or find one that we can each do ourselves online (like the Disney T-shirt place)?

Karen

Karen

Our vote is to do it just like we did in 2007. I also think it is time to move away from the DIS board green ( maybe a red)

Rob

Welcome to all the new Turkey Day Gang members!! :thumbsup2

Chuck and I have never been home for Thanksgiving since we have been together. We used to work in the same office. The office was only closed 2 weekdays in a row per year-Thanksgiving and the day after. As a result, it was our only time to get away and not have to worry about work.

This past school year, Mason had to create a Thanksgiving tradition book. The book needed to include Thanksgiving traditions and menu. Well, since we have spent every Thanksiiving on the Magic since 2004, his book was all about the Magic...including the Thanksgiving Menu!! :cool1::cool1:

We definitely want to participate in group shirts. I think that a while ago the preference from posters was blue---I think that's why the bracelets that people have ordered were also blue. We haven't ordered bracelets yet, so I'm not sure if I'm correct.

Lisa

I think Lisa is right. I think everyone liked blue. We are easy and will be happy just to go along with the group.

Wendy:cool1:

Wow - I feel like I've missed so much lately! Welcome to all of our new cruisers!

I ordered our blue bracelets about a week ago. They came very quickly. They gave me a nice break on the price because I ordered 14 for my group. I think they ended up costing $1 each plus $3 for shipping.

Wendy - I always love the designs you come up with!

Laura:

Thanks ! I love making designs and I hope to see lots of door magnets this year !

What did you end up with on your bracelets? Turkey Day Cruise?

We want to order ours also.

wendy

My bracelets have a Mickey head "2009 Thanksgiving DCL" and then the DCL wave design. They used the Disney font. I was trying not to use too many letters, or else it would have been too tiny.

Will you design an "official" door magnet logo for us? :flower3:

But to answer your question, considering that I cook at every other holiday for the relatives (and that I hate turkey -- YUCK), no I don't miss cooking at Thanksgiving...not one little bit! I look at it this way, I cook for Christmas, New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and a few birthdays...so I'm good with skipping the turkey!

Don't get me wrong, I love my inlaws and outlaws...sometimes in smaller doses than others....but I never miss cooking the turkey!

Karen

If I had to cook all of those other holidays, I'd want to skip preparing Thanksgiving dinner too. As for turkey, I'm okay with it, except for dark meat. EWWW!:rotfl2:

Priscilla

Priscilla,

My first Thanksgiving with Steve, we were living in an apartment in South Charleston (WV). There were a bunch of newly out of college young professionals in our apartment complex who didn't have the vacation time to head home...so I cooked turkey for everyone. My mom assured me it wasn't hard and I followed her directions step by step -- except for one.

My turkey turned out beautiful and golden -- and smelled like melted plastic! At the time I didn't know that the "hard thing" inside the turkey was the bag of gross stuff that had to come out before you stuffed it and cooked it!

So, we wound up having all the "trimmings" and pizza!

Karen

Hi all!!! I have been away for a while. Had to get caught up on 5 pages worth of posts!!!! My fiancee, April, and I have been busy with wedding preps.

Welcome to the three newcomers (sorry I can't remember names and I am too lazy to go back and look):rotfl2::confused3

Karen, I like the logo from 2007 for the shirts. They look similar to the ones from 2005. I will keep a look out for when you have the final design and put my order in for 2 shirts.

Only 18 days until my fiancee and I can make ressies. We have to wait for 90 days out.:rotfl2:

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Yes, I "borrowed" them and then found and used the same screener as someone from the 05 or 06 cruise (can't remember which). The screener modified the design for us and printed up a bunch of them and shipped them to me where I spread them out all over my dining room table, put them into flat rate boxes and shipped them out to every family! It was a lot of fun (really...seriously)...particularly when I got to see everyone in their shirts at the port!

Karen

Karen:

Your hard work was really appreciated on the T-Shirt. I know Andrew was a big help also.

I guess we will have to make some decisions here in the next couple of weeks about what to do.

OH MY GOSH I LOVVVE that --- is that a tshirt pic or something...

we have moved our rooms from deck two to an inside room - yet to be determined - and it is looking very gloomy for Sis and her family to be able to attend - need lots of pixie dust for this one...

I am glad we are paid in full for this cruise and vacation - DH and I are getting hit hard by the economics and what is going on at our local organization...::SIGH:: it appers this will be our last vacation for quite a while.... :sad2:

Me too! Too bad we can't get this one on a T-shirt (my understanding from last time is that there is a licensing issue and while we can make our own designs getting them professionally printed is a problem!).

Hey there,

Question for all those who own DVC. If you have any "extra" points (:rotfl2::rotfl2:) that you'd be interested in "renting" to Steve, Andrew and I, we're looking for a studio at any DVC resort for 11/19 and 11/20 (before the cruise). We're booked at Wilderness Lodge right now, but as Jodie (thank you!) pointed out...we'd likely save a bit of $$ if we rented points from someone. I've posted on the R/T Board too...but thought I'd ask those that I know (and who know me).

Thanks,

Karen
