Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

My first two years down here I worked in Osceola County (Kissimmee area). The thing I found oddest was we didn't get President's Day off, however 4 days later we did get Rodeo Day. Thats right folks. A day to celebrate at the rodeo.

Hahaha! DH & I went to UCF and don't remember ever hearing about Rodeo Day! :rotfl:

We have friends in Tampa and last year visited for a long weekend since they had off for.... the state fair. The county closed all schools because the state fair was in Tampa. (is it always? :confused3) We didn't mind -- while all the other kids went to the state fair, we visited Mickey. ;)

Karen: I left Michelle a v/m w/your email info.

Chuck:cool1:

Thanks Chuck and Karen I am really sorry. Had some stuff to deal with unexpectedly yesterday. Got a call that my brother who has battled cnacer a long time was not doing well at all and they were not able to help him. Fortuneately a few hours later things started getting better and he said not to fly home to see him. But I got home after 9pm last night so did not think anyone wanted a call from me.

Hi Everyone,

First movie I have ever been to where people were singing along and the person next to me was dancing in his seat so much, my chair was bouncing the entire time.

Clearly like Chuck you did not go to the hannah Montanna or Jonas Brother Concert 3-D movies :rotfl:

Which I liked much better as banks and such are open on rodeo day:rotfl: Remember that this was a ranching and 4H town. And having worked across from the Rodeo the traffic is terrible and no bus would ever make it through

DD and I want to see the MJ movie - but I am hoping it comes out in video - cus I dont think we will get there before it closes..

New Moon is a definate for DD and I on the Sunday we arrive home :)

DH is working today and I will be in charge of packing... we are packing "LEO"

Leo is a stuffed MONKEY - yes you heard that correct! a Stuffed Monkey - he is part of the Hospital Staff ( hmm - ya ) and travels with staff members around the world. We brought him on our second Disney Cruise and DH walked around with him on his shoulder. KIDS loved him and many people took pics of this. Well suddenly we hear this noise and one of the characters ( the orangatang sp?) from Tarzan (that is what DD just told me) starts hooting and hollering and making ape sounds....then grabs LEO and starts dancing with him... very very funny -- people were taping it - and taking pics...

well on Pirate night - DH was a tad under TEQUILA from spending the day in Cozumal -- so he was dressed up like a Pirate with Leo on his shoulder -- we were in line to get our pics done in the lobby when suddenly all these people start a line beside us..then a little boy asks if it is his turn to take his picture --- for an HOUR DH gave out autographs "Charlie and Leo" and had his pic's taken with kids...it was a riot!!!!
So we are bringing him with us again....so if you see this man --with a stuffed MONKEY on his shoulder - mustach and beard (on the man - not the monkey!) you will know it is Charlie and Leo!!

we also take pics of Leo having fun so that we can add it to the photo albums that are in his office at work ( yes he does have a small cubby at work that he keeps his pics for all to see ) That monkey has been to more places than me!!!

Oh my gosh - I feel like a little kid - waiting for Christmas

25 days of Christmas is staring on ABC Family Station on Tuesday -- wowo

I will decorate when I get home -- we are still up in the air about what our Holiday Plans are as Renee will have to work Christamas and New Years...
Originally we were going to to Boston and spend the holidays with DHs family - now we will wait and see

We are committed to getting all the last little items put together this weekend. DD loves working on the FE items. We are still undecided getting our items to Florida. We got our Magic Express Tags several weeks ago, but only got three. We got our Disney Cruise Line tags also, but got 6. We are spending a few days in the parks so we may ship a box to the hotel??

Must decide

It is really cooling down in WV. We are hoping for warm weather during our cruise. On our 2007 Turkey Cruise, the water was a little chilly at Castaway.

We are all packing a light jacket and sweat shirt.

We cruised last Thanksgiving and it was a bit cool at Castaway and in the evenings...Praying for warm weather as it needs to get me thru the rough Chicago winter!!

All the suitcases and duffle bags are out of the attic and we are getting it all together. We are trying to get everything at least in one place. We have collected a lot of Disney items over the years... We think we are going to retire a few of our favorite clothing items....

The sorting continues....

Good morning everyone!

2 weeks from today!!!!!! 14 more days!!!!!!

It's not that I'm excited or anything...

Oh Lisa...do I understand. Andrew has this stuffed dalmation named (of course) SPOT! Well, Spot has been a member of the family for quite a few years and has traveled everywhere with Andrew....from Hawaii to my parent's lake house, from Disney World to the Grand Canyon...why Spot has even been on 3 cruises, had his very own Turkey '07 shirt and naturally, got the Turkey '09 shirt!

So, I'm thinking that Spot likely needs to meet Leo and discuss travels (LOL)! The really funny part is when we traveled to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, Andrew was about 6. As I was packing Andrew announced that "Spot is NOT luggage." Since then that is the running joke...that Spot travels with his head sticking out of Andrew's backpack since he is NOT luggage! We've even thought about writing a book for Spot about his travels...er...ah...adventures!

I think I'll let Andrew know about Leo and Charlie!

Karen

14 days! Steve and I are so ready!!!! (And we won't even begin to discuss Andrew!)

Karen

Came home today and Andrew had already opened the 30+ pound box of shirts and had them sorted by sizes all over the dining room table. No....he's not excited at all :thumbsup2!

So, we sorted the shirts into piles....went back and checked our list again....yep, we have everyone's shirt! For those that ordered Youth XL please know that you will be receiving an Adult S -- apparently the Youth XL was out of stock so we went with the next nearest size.

Steve is at the PO getting flat rate boxes. We will ship all of them out tomorrow. I will post later if I still need an address or 2.

Karen

Karen, you are amazing!!

I swear - sick people, exploding colons . . . I hope we all make it onto the ship!

Do you think they are carrying Tamiflu in the ship's clinic? Hope so! I'm so paranoid. My dd is getting the H1N1 vaccine on Tuesday, and I'll BEG them to give my DS one as well. As for DH and I, I think we're out of luck! There is absolutely NO seasonal flu vaccine anywhere here. I wish I could just keep everyone home between now and then.
