TTC thread take 2

After not having success with injectible IUI (well we did have a chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage at 10 weeks) we did IVF. It was not much more involved than an injectible IUI cycle, I had no problems with the retrieval at all and was up and about that evening. I was scared to do it so tried IUI several times and IVF was really not bad at all (for me anyway). We were successful with the first cycle and now have a 15 week old ds. :goodvibes

My numbers weren't terrible but not great either (fsh, afc). Eight follicles, eight eggs retrieved, transferred three on day three, one stuck. :lovestruc Transferred to OB (regular, not high risk) at 10 weeks.

The most important thing with IVF imo is to go to the best clinic in your area, the lab is as important as the RE.

I am happy to answer any questions you have, you can pm me if you want. :)

Officially negative. We even did a double iui this month. :sad1:

Hey gang! I hope everyone is doing well and progressing towards BFP's!

I had an appt today with my RE. We decided to do one more round of IUI with different injectables this time. If that doesn't work then we will move to IVF the next month.

I really don't know much about IVF so I'm a little nervous. Any girl's wanna share their experiences with IVF?

I am so sorry! :grouphug:

But maybe the different injectables will be the magic this time?

For IVF, I agree, it wasn't much different than an injectable IUI cycle, other than the retrieval and transfer process. I think I was even on some of the same injectables if I remember right (follistim?), but just more of them. Of course we did the BCP first, then started the injectables. The retrieval wasn't as bad as I imagined either, it was pretty easy. The pain from all the extra follicles/eggs was bad, but no different than my 2 injectable IUI cycles prior. I was home resting hours later after retrieval and only took one day off. Transfer was easy too. Really physically it wasn't that much harder. Emotionally, much harder. Waiting while the little guys grew in the lab was terrible. The 2WW was so much harder because I just threw over $10k at this and I was going to be just so sick if it didn't work. Thankfully it did work first try. It really isn't all that scary or more than you are experiencing now- so go for it! :thumbsup2

IVF was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I hadn't done any injectibles before IVF so I can't compare it to that - but it really went by fast once the injections started.

I will say I was terrified of all the injections before starting. I was a pro after a few days, and that is including the very long PIO needle that I am still on for another few weeks. It really wasn't painful at all.

I had some minor complications during retrieval and transfer that caused my experiences to be more painful then most - but those are not typical so I won't go into detail. Most people seem to have pretty seamless retrievals and transfers.

I am so glad we moved to IVF! The hardest part of it all has been AFTER I got a BFP, and all of the waiting for the next beta, the next ultrasound, etc. I thought once I was pregnant I would just go on with a happy, pregnant girl life - HA! I worry every day now about my pregnancy, and the IVF seems like a thing long past. You can do it!

I couldn't wait anymore....so I took a test!

POSITIVE!!!!:wizard:
We're Pregnant!!!!

:cool1::banana::love::woohoo::yay::dance3:

Just got our blood results back - for the first time ever we are PREGNANT!:goodvibes:cloud9:

HCG was 200!

A HUUUUUUGE CONGRATS TO BOTH OF YOU! It's so great to see some positives!!! Prayers for a happy and healthy 9 months. I know it's hard with the waiting game even now (like you were saying DisneyElite) but I can tell you that the worry does decrease eventually :goodvibes

I feel like iui BFNs are harder than the "regular" kind. At least for me.

Thanks gang!

It's still pretty early, but I feel like it is going to stay negative. I might not test again. I might just wait for AF.

The first time around wasn't that bad. I did not surpress (sp?) the first time so I had an extra week of BC Pills. After that things went very smoothly. The Progesterone shots were the worst for me.

This time around was even easier (frozen embies). Progesterone shots are even worse this time. I have a ton of knots in my bum.

I honestly think it was easier, less stress, than doing IUI's. For me anyway, thats how it felt.

I tested this morning. 10dpo...negative. I'm only mildly bummed.

I'm so sorry. I know every negative can be so frustrating.

We did our 1st beta on Wednesday. Yesterday they called to say my results were HUGE. 947. I was 12 days after transfer. I don't have anything to compare that too... I can't remember what DD's was. Can anyone share their 1st beta? We did the 2nd today. I have to wait til Monday for the results. Stupid lab doesn't take my insurance so they have to send it out & I have to wait an extra day. :headache: My ultrasound is tentatively scheduled for March 12.

My betas:

10dp3dt (15 dpo) - 200
14dp3dt (19 dpo) - 871

I think you probably have twins brewing in there! :thumbsup2

Most girls first betas are at 15 days past retrieval, usually between 100-300 with the HCG levels. The second beta is done two days later (mine was four because of the weekend) and they want to see it double, or come close to doubling.

Did you have a 3 or 5 day transfer? Either way, that is a really strong beta and I am betting you have two babies growing in there!

Thanks DisneyElite!

They were 5 day embies.

I've got every pregnancy symptom...loving it & hating it at the same time! It so good to feeling something. Just a little sense of security, KWIM? Morning sickness (nausea), sore breasts, tired, emotional...

At the same time, I'm so exhausted all the time, but can't seem to get a good nights sleep at all.

March 12 seems so far away to get confirmation of single or twins :rolleyes1

Looks like twins!!!!!! We had very similar numbers:thumbsup2

We went in this morning to get started with this month's treatments. Unfortunately, they found a cyst on the right ovary which he said can happen sometimes when a follicle becomes a cyst but he said they go away on their own after one cycle. So I guess I am sitting this month out. We have all of our meds ordered so they said to just stick them in the fridge and hang onto them for next month.

In a way it will be nice to have a plain old month with no two week wait, no wondering, no stressing.....but at the same time I am bummed because this was going to be my first month adding Follistim and I was hoping it would do the trick and be my winning month. Oh well.

I'm throwing a baby shower for my single mom BFF next weekend and I am so afraid I'm going to be an emotional wreck. I am VERY happy for her but at the same time green with envy since she is single and wasn't trying at all. Just a happy accident....meanwhile we're jumping through hoops. *sigh*

Good luck to all of you ladies!!

Hi All.

I am just starting down this path. I was wondering if any of you have any other online resources/communities that you could recommend?

Good luck to all!

Showers were always tough. I used to have a mimosa (or two) to help. :rolleyes1

I know how hard it can be to miss a cycle, since each one feels so important. I found it hard though to do IUI after IUI one after another, a break here and there was actually a relief. It was nice to have sometime that wasn't either being monitored or in the tww. Spoil yourself this month. :goodvibes
