TTC thread take 2

Well, short luteal phases are definitely not my issue, LOL--quite the opposite is much more true for me. Thanks! I'll just wait to see if AF shows up, then re-test on CD38 if she hasn't by then.

LOL I don't know if clomid would lengthen a long luteal phase (or shorten it for that matter)

Right now I'm STILL waiting on AF. Frustration at its worst.

Well, today is CD28, so I took a HPT this morning and it was negative. So naturally I'm sad. But at least I finally ovulated this past month, so that's at least something to be thankful for for sure.

Is it possible to have a very long luteal phase? My last 3 cycles have all been 38 days, and I have no signs yet that AF is on her way, but the nurse said to take the HPT on CD28. Since Clomid made my ovulate on CD14, maybe CD28 is when I'm supposed to start AF now. But I'm not sure if it won't still wind up being later than that despite being on Clomid. Any thoughts?

I'm so sorry about the BFN. :(
Hugs to you.

I'm also not sure about the luteal phase. I've had luteal phases as short as 12 days and as long as 16 (all when I was on Clomid). Maybe your body just needs a few more days? :confused3

AF should stand for "Absolutely Frustrating." That would be very accurate!

Thanks for the encouragement! It ain't over yet, and even if this month's a no-go, at least we seem to have figured out the right dose of Clomid to help me ovulate.

@EAD I had a friend who was pregnant and found out through a blood test on CD28 she didn't get a positive with taking HPT's until a week and half later even though she knew she was pregnant, so it's still possible

@Cherbear - I am waiting for AF to show too!!! Where is she already? Although my b00bs are sore today so that probably means she will show up by the weekend

@CC1013 - glad that everything is on track for you!

Well...it looks like Saturday will be the day! I progessed overnight (just as Cheri said I might!) and will complete the HCG trigger tonight. They still counted 16 follies, but 10 on my left and 6 on my right now. I'm curious where my other 2 on my right went (I was at 8 yesterday), but maybe they just never developed or I wrote my notes down incorrectly? :confused3

The RE anticipates that the 14s and 15 will get to a mature level (16 or greater) by Saturday. With that, we should have around 13 mature follies for the retrieval. My lining was at 15.5, so that is going in the right direction too. :goodvibes

I'm still waiting to hear on my estrogen level and final details for Saturday. Right now, I'm freaking about the HCG injection. That needle is long! :scared1: We had to do HCG injections with the IUIs, but they were in my belly with a shorter needle and not my rear. Should be interesting!

Other than that, I'm going to acupuncture tonight and will have treatments both before and after the transfer next week. After seeing the embies on Sunday, the doctor and embryologist will determine the best route (3dt or 5dt) for us.

As I told my husband, it's almost GAME TIME! :rotfl:

Thanks for all of your positive thoughts and good wishes!

I agree on the Absolutely Frustrating!!! LOL I always have to remind myself when I get a negative that it's still only a 20% chance each month somehow that makes me feel a little better and like you at least we now have that chance but getting that negative is still hard when you have everything timed out.

heehee, did I call that one? :thumbsup2

Those other follies are probably in there somewhere. When they all grow to this point, the ovary is so saturated that many times some of the small-to-mid sized follies hide behind the larger ones. I have heard of people who were told there were A # of follicles on the u/s, and then there ends up being like 4 more! When mentioning this to my dr, she said that some follicles can even contain TWO eggs!

Way to go ovaries! I'm so excited for you! :goodvibes

So I just spoke with the RE office. Estrogen is at 2133 and they are happy with that. I guess I had written my follicle notes down incorrectly yesterday as I had 10 on the left and 6 on the right (same as today). So, nothing was missing, I just had them on the wrong ovary. Lol.... Thanks for the info on follies hiding. I totally didn't know that!

They told me to NOT take the follistim tonight (already took lupron and menopur this morning) and take the HCG shot at 10pm. We will have to arrive at the hospital at 7:30am on Saturday for the retrieval. So nervous, but SO excited at the same time. Well, I will be after I get over that darn HCG needle. I'm planning to sit on an ice pack for a while before letting my husband inject me. Hopefully that will help. ;)

Thanks again!

I don't really know the medical reasons behind this, but I had a similar situation. Before Clomid I was having long cycles (35-47 days). My RE puts me on progesterone for the second half of the cycle which keeps AF away, but one cycle had to be cancelled due to my lining being too thin and I wasn't on any progesterone. I had a +OPK and mature follicle on New Years Eve, and didn't get AF until Jan 21 (3 wks later!) My first cycle off Clomid (on no meds) I had a 27 day cycle. Go figure! We did injectables for the first time this month... now I'm in the 2ww! :scared1:

yeah sending baby dust your way! If you don't mind me asking what was your protocol? what injectibles did you do? did you have to do the trigger shot? how many mature follicles?

Oops! Posted by mistake! Responded to a question that wasn't for me. I should not multi-task! LOL

I am SO freakin excited for you!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

The intramuscular shots aren't that bad. Using heat afterwards can help :goodvibes

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!:grouphug::flower3:

You were right about the shot not being that bad. I iced for about 15 minutes before and then used a heating pad. Thanks for that tip! To be honest, the daily Menopur shot was more painful for me!

It was nice to wake up this morning and not have any injections. :goodvibes Now we just have the waiting game until the ER tomorrow.

How are you feeling? Any signs of AF? SO EXCITED for you to get started on the stims! :cheer2:

no, I'm SO bummin right now. If I start too late then we can't proceed until June. The IVF lab closes down for most (if not ALL) of May! That's why they normally use birth control, to control the timing. But it suppressed me too much which is why I'm sitting here waiting on AF from this freakin @$$ 32 day cycle (so far). I think my nurse told me that I could go up to 36 days and still make it. But that just doesn't seem right to me. I just want AF to start NOW. I have been cramping off and on the past few days...what gives?!!

I'm sorry to be so negative at such an awesome positive time for you! I cannot wait til your ER!

AF WILL ARRIVE! AF WILL ARRIVE! Keep telling yourself that! Cramping is a good sign that she's on her way! I'm going to keep wishing for her to arrive so that you can get started ASAP. You still have quite a few days!

I know your frustration because I was in a similar spot when my estrogen level was too high to begin stims and we were at risk of losing the cycle. It all worked out for me and it will for you too! I know it!!!!!!

Good luck! :cheer2::cheer2: When can you test?

My beta is on Friday (only 1 week away!) :woohoo: I haven't POAS for any of my previous medicated cycles and I don't plan on POAS for this one. I think that makes me more anxious when you are POAS everyday. I try and "forget" about it up until the beta  :rotfl2:

I was on Menopur 75 and Gonal-F 150, though the RE changed it a few times (only take half doses, leave one or the other out for a certain day) depending on how I progressed that day. I also was on Estradiol 2x/day and Sildenafil (Viagara) suppositories 4x/day because I've had lining issues in the past. The RE believed that Clomid was causing my thin lining, but didn't want to chance it so kept me on the lining enhancers even on injectables. I did an HCG trigger and an IUI 36hrs later (51.5 million swimmers with 88% motility- go DH! ). I know I had at least one mature follicle at the time of the trigger- and 4 at 15 and a few other smaller ones so who knows if those kept maturing after the trigger or not. I know that they can keep maturing 1-2 after the trigger so maybe some of those made it too, but the RE wanted me to trigger as soon as I had one the was mature. I also had a booster HCG a week after the trigger (helps w/ progesterone levels), and I am taking Endometrin suppositories 3x/day since the IUI and am staying on the Estradiol as well.

My progesterone was 45.2   BEFORE my booster injection, so there's definitely a good environment for an embryo to snuggle up in for 9 months... let's hope something stuck!!!
