TTC thread take 2

Hi ladies! I'm not a frequent visitor, just an occassional browser of this thread. I post a few times awhile back but we are full on the TTC bandwagon now.

I spoke with my GYN yesterday regarding my bloodwork and DH's s/a and it looks like we are now being passed over to a reproductive endocrinologist. DH's s/a was borderline low on morphology and motility, she said normally they wouldn't be concerned at all but since my bloodwork is pointing towards PCOS and I haven't gotten a positive ovul test on my at home tests its time to see an expert. I can't even explain how sad I am right now. The first appointment I can get is over a month away, it's going to be a long, long month.

Welcome to our group! :grouphug:

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope your stay here is short!

Well, yet another BFN for me.:sad::sad::sad: I'll have the pleasure of getting to go thru all this for yet another month. No 2011 baby for me :sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

Oh Joanne, I'm SO sorry! I hope you can take it easy this weekend and relax. The disappointment and sadness with every BFN just stinks. Ugh, I really wish your results were different.

Joanne312 so sorry to hear about your BFN :grouphug::grouphug:

Has anyone tried soy isoflavones? I'm trying it this cycle (CD5-9) in place of when my GYN suggested we would do clomid. I was all ready to start clomid but the doc never returned my call in time

I had a great Easter. I made turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and rice krispie mickey heads! :worship:

My mother came back from her church and told me that this kid (who is now 17) btw, that I once taught in church has had a child from a one nighter. Of course she did. My mother was talking to her about everything going on and told her how me and my hubby were ttc....the little I'm not gonna even say says, "She's probably better off than. You don't know what I've been through."

Oh gawd.....give me a break. You wanna talk about hardships? Let's talk. I'm gonna have an hsg Wednesday and I'm scared crapless about it. I've tried 2 years to get pregnant, oh, but she got herself preggo on a one nighter and thinks she can judge me?

Sorry for the vent, that just p****ed me off. I just wish ma hadn't even told me about it. She herself has had ttc probs for years before she got me and should know I'm sensitive about this. I told her if she ever sees her again to keep it to herself.

A very annoyed Gabbie

welcome to our group, officially. Good luck with the SI. I have a friend who is doing those...she didn't want to waste any of her clomid tries and they aren't able to do IUI again right now. She's only done one cycle on them so far, it helped a little, but it didn't help as much as the clomid. (hate to say it...sorry!) She's increasing her dose on the S.I. this month though.

That would throw me over the edge too. I would rather not know about these things if I can avoid them, too. When my cousin got pregnant with her SECOND child at age 18 (or 17), I about lost it when I heard! (for her 1st child at age 16, we weren't even TTC yet)

I appreciate the support girls!!

I had an appt Friday, and another today. On Friday things showed much better than what they did on Wednesday. The u/s tech I had on Wednesday just plain sucked!

Last Friday's u/s showed 10 follies. (up from 7 on Wednesday....the other girl missed some) Then today's u/s showed a total of 13! (after 3 more days of meds)

here are the sizes (for anyone interested):

first, my lining is at a 7.9 (triple stripe) right now. Hoping the acupuncture plumps it up big by retrieval time!

and the follies are..

16x19mm
16x18mm
10x10mm
10x10mm
8x8mm
7x7mm
6x6mm

17x17mm
10x13mm
9x9mm
8x8mm
8x8mm
4x4mm

I'm still waiting on the call from them but I think I'll be on the meds at least 2 more days. I am hoping that my dr will want to pull those 8 mm's in. Otherwise that doesn't leave me with much!

I'm so happy to see that you are progressing well! Now.....that U/S tech needs to STAY AWAY!!!! So are you tentatively thinking that the retrieval could be on Friday? I'm so excited for you!:banana:

Out of curiosity, what does 'triple stripe' mean? Probably just me being a newbie at all the IVF lingo, lol.

:flower3:

cher, I only had 7 retrieved, 2 transferred and 2 currently frozen (although we are beginning to consider the next step there). So...it's possible, even if the 8s don't plump up! Think positive!

so I tried to quote this yesterday, and DIS crashed on me. It was being strange!

Triple stripe pretty much means "grade A"...not sure how your clinic did the lining rating. Mine was a B to start with, and now it's an A. I've heard others refer to it as triple stripe, which one of the u/s told me last week. I was so happy to hear that term referring to MY lining. LOL

Thanks, that is sweet of you to post here!

I am trying to think positive, but last time we had 12 retrieved, none of them being mature upon retrieval. Only 6 matured up in the lab (which is still not the ideal, we want them mature at retrieval of course)

So for me, the bigger the follies, the better. We want the best chance for mature eggs.

hope I didn't chase anyone away?! :rotfl:

Here's today's counts (all measurements in millimeters):

Waiting on the call from the nurse for official orders. She thinks that my Dr might let me go one more day. She gave me 4 menopurs that were donated from a patient yesterday, for use tonight (since I will likely be doing one more dose tonight). So wonderful!

Last night I was dropped down to 150 follistim (and still 4 vials of menopur) and that promoted good growth of the existing follies, so hopefully tonight she might drop me down to 75 on the follistim.

Oh by the way, I had the "newbie" girl and she actually did a good job today finding all the follicles, apparently! I guess I can't be sure if her measurements are perfectly accurate, but I think she did a much better job this time. And she didn't hurt me. Thank God!

Lining is at 8.5 today. Doing acupuncture tomorrow, so I hope that kicks it up another notch. I'll have another session before transfer, as well.

You are really progressing! I'm so happy to see that your follies are growing and the u/s tech didn't hurt you today. :thumbsup2

How are you feeling? Bloated yet?

I'm 7 days past my 3 day transfer and feel okay. Still bloated and a lot of chest tenderness from the progesterone. Last night I had the oddest pain in my right side. Not really lower abdominal, more like a few inches below where my rib cage ends and towards my side. It's like a pulled a muscle or something. I can feel it when I breathe in, walk, move, anything. So strange. I know I didn't do anything physical, so I can't be sure what is causing this pain. It isn't really bad, but a little worrisome. I don't think it's my appendix and the symptoms I've read online don't really match that. Who knows? If it doesn't go away by tomorrow, I'm going to call my doc.

hmm, I wonder if you did pull a muscle there? That's what it sounds like to me too. Or...gallbladder. But I hope not!

I hope it's somehow a pregnancy sign ;)

How are you feeling otherwise??

To answer your question, I'm actually feeling pretty good. I can definitely feel a little bit of pain/soreness in my right ovary today, but other than that I don't really feel horribly bloated or anything. (now I've done it...I'm probably going to be swollen tomorrow now that I've said this. :rotfl:)

I am attributing it to the acupuncture :goodvibes

Also I got the call back, and she is letting me stim one more day. I am taking the 4 vials of menopur tonight, and dropped me down to 75 iu follistim JUST as I suspected. I go back in tomorrow at the same time...then I have acupuncture right after my appointment. I'm glad I scheduled it on Wednesday ahead of time! (normally I go on Thursday afternoons...but the office is right across the street from my RE and I figured I'd have a Wednesday lunchtime appt...I figured right!!)

I am hoping this last acupuncture before trigger will help get the blood really flowing to my eggs and start building my lining some more to get ready for transfer.

It's about 99% certain that my retrieval will be Friday!

I had the "newbie" girl once. It was New Years Eve so the office I normally go to was closed and I had to go to a different office location. She actually asked me- "So what am I supposed to be looking for?" :scared1: She meant did they just want follicle count, size, or what. That is NOT the question you want to hear! After I got re-dressed she made me do another u/s saying she "forgot" something. I was like what the ----!!! After I finished with her the nurse came in and told me my lining was too thin and they were cancelling that cycle. I was CONVINCED that everything with me was fine and it was that stupid newbie u/s tech! When I got in the parking lot and called DH and told him, he also was certain the u/s tech just screwed up. The nurse assured us that actually the machine calculates all the measurements so there is no way that the tech could have screwed it up. The machine actually does more work on it's own then we realize! Needless to say I'm happy that I rarely have to go to that office and the u/s tech in the office I normally go to is amazing!

I'm saying this is something to do with pregnancy! :goodvibes Having never been preg I have no idea what it actually feels like but maybe that's what it is! :goodvibes :woohoo:

So it begins again for me. I guess the one good thing about the BFN is that AF comes shortly after and you start all over again. It helps me get more hopeful that *THIS* cycle will be the good one! :goodvibes I go tomorrow for my CD3 so I'll probably start the shots again tomorrow. We are going to the exact same thing as last month (injectables/IUI). If it doesn't work I think we are going to move on to IVF. Keep everything crossed for me this month (as I know you all always do!)

YIKES!!!!!! I would have felt the SAME WAY. I think that the machine does calculate yes..BUT they also have to be zoomed in right and such, wouldn't you think? And they have to measure from the right places too. I am so glad that you don't have to go to that office much!

I was so glad that the newbie girl seemed to be on her game yesterday for once. I think I will be seeing her today too...
But it's almost set in stone that this is my last day, and tonight will be trigger. Hopefully she measures right and hopefully we see some good growth. :goodvibes
