TSM standby-less test Oct. 6-9

I also don't think they will go exclusively standby-less. Think of the negative PR. The marketing campaign for FP+ touts the ability to pre-reserve rides, but how do you spin things for the thousands of guests who show up and are told "sorry, you didn't make reservations in advance, you cannot ride anything." ?????

Easily spun. First, empathetic CMs who point out there are so many other things to do, second offer them a paid FP+ for any ride they want. Gently remind them that next time they can pay hundreds or thousands more for a week onsite and get up at midnight 60 days before to plan what park, what day, and what time for a few rides.

Use the opportunity to sell a photo package at a great savings as a way of compensation.

The guest is happy, Disney increases demand for their hotels, and they get even more money from the guest buying FPs and/or photo packages.

All this occurs while little billy or sally are balling there eyes out because they can't ride the 1 ride they wanted to on the super high priced trip!:rotfl2:

Was this the song thread? I keep getting them mixed up. Anyway i was reading this thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3341970
and can't seem to get this one out of my head.

It's 12 AM, the passes are all gone
I'm sittin here waiting, coffee is still warm
Checkin my connection, I'm tired of takin chances...
Yeah there's a storm on the loose, sirens in my head
Passes are all gone, SB option dead
I cannot cope, my whole trip spins into a frenzy.

Help, I'm steppin into the no-ride zone.
SB's been shutoff, all the passes gone
There's nothing we can ride in this whole dang park
What are we to do now that they've gone to far?

Just having fun. Time to go hunt seashells and fly kites and stop reading FP threads for a while. :)

Really??? In what reality does anyone think the guest would be happy with these "compensations" for being shut out from riding anything? Remember, the theoretical future we're discussing is one where you can ONLY ride with a FP and there's no SB option.

Very true. There will still be people who simply will not be happy unless Disney does everything the way they want Disney to do it but I have little doubt that more than enough guests will be happy with Disney's efforts as you said.

And there are people for whom Disney can do no wrong.

What information do you posess that leave you in "little doubt" that the number of people turned off will be outweighed by the number of people that it will draw in?

If my little Billly or Sally stand in WDW and ball their little eyes out after all the sacrifices and work it took to get them there because they can't ride one ride in all of WDW, my little Sally or Billy are going to get a nice ride back to the room where they'll discover just how much worse things can be than not getting to ride something.

Seriously, it's one ride. I didn't tolerate my children having fits when they didn't get what they want. I love my grandson more than life itself, and I don't tolerate it from him either- and he's 2.

Luckily, there is no one on this thread who likes fp+ that thinks Disney can do no wrong. You'll have to point some of those people out to me, because I don't find any on these boards that think that. But it is one of the key insults tossed around by people who don't like it.

Just like those who say that those who dislike FP+ just want something to complain about or that Disney can't ever make them happy. Both attitudes are unfair.

To imply that someone is being simply being petulant because they don't get what they want is the mirror image of what you find insulting. It is equally insulting.

Almost as insulting as being told if you don't love it then go away.

FP+ works for you. We get that.

I love Disney and putting limits on what, where and when I can do things does not feel like the Disney I love.

How do you work in trips to the waterparks? I believe I asked you that before and you ignored the question. My family loves them and 2 out of 10 days we go there. Could it be that you don't go, so you won't understand the frustration of trying to plan 60 days out what days have good weather?

Thank you, you said it better than I did. That was the point I was trying to make.

I apologize if this has been answered already, I tried wading through all the pages of arguments but couldn't find really anything related to the actual test in the recent posts. Has there been anything released about what the test was actually for and what the results were?

No and no.

So tell us...what has Disney done wrong?

Well of course it's only my opinion and WDW is the one who gets to decide. That said....

1) Offering free dining
2) Building so many value resorts
3) Not closing the loopholes with throwaway rooms and using multiple magic bands

That's just off the top of my head...

Edited because I thought of another one!!!
4) The over selling of hard ticket events!!!! Major, #1, top of my list, bad enough I wrote them a letter , complaint!

I think blanket statements are probably always wrong. Was that a blanket statement? Yeah...almost always...;)

See? You really are one of us. ;)

I guess we can just disagree on how insulting it is to anyone else when I say I wouldn't allow my child to have a fit in the parks over something they didn't get without consequences.

You can go back and find it, but I did answer that question. We do go to water parks on longer trips, not the shorter ones (5 days or less, no water park usually).

I understand the frustration, but depending on the time of year you go, the weather is quite predictable. It's going to be hot, it's going to rain a little in the afternoon. That statement covers about 70% of the year at wdw. If you go in the winter months- good luck no matter what system they have in place.

We usually plan an out of park day for DTD and those days can be interchanged with a water park day if necessary. We don't do water parks open to close so we can switch out morning parks that we don't get fp+'s for. There are lots of ways to work around the weather.

There are certainly posters who seem to think the WDW powers-that-be have God-like omniscience, prescience, and benevolence. However, I'm pretty sure that you, cakebaker, are not one of them...didn't you make some negative comments about Disney in this very thread? (About the resorts, maybe?) [edited to add...I see you made some more while I was distracted by my Mother-in-law while writing this post!]

I suppose they've always imposed limits in certain ways. But there's a point where it becomes so restrictive, it no longer feels like a vacation. And I think they might be nearing that point.
