We will be visiting family for Thanksgiving and I am considering taking DS3 to MVMCP on the sunday after. However, since it is a premium night I am concerned that it will be too crowded for him to enjoy. (he isn't into waiting all the much at this point, we usually go off season) Anyone BTDT have any ideas of what to expect??

We went last year on an off night and it still seemed extremely crowded. The parade is cool, but if not interested in sitting on the curb an hour before it starts you will never get a good view. Wishes is an awesome display of fireworks. Honestly we will not be going back for the MVMCP in the future. Done it once and was enough. For the cost I was really hoping Disney would limit the attendence more. Not worth it to me to have to fight the crowds along the parade route for the majority of the night and the hot chocolate and cookies aren't much to speak of either. But then again, just being there is the real enjoyment. No other place can put me in the Christmas spirit the way Christmas Season at Disney does.

I hope the two attached links will provide some information that will help you! Also once you click on the first link at the top of the page there is another link that will list some new discounted ticket rates for MVMCP that were just added around November 4th.

We went to MNSSHP 2 years ago and I was extrememly disappointed in the corwd level and the clausterphobia of the whole experience! Pushing/ shoving rude and mean people knocking my 2 year old to the ground while leaving the fireworks...It made me decide that I was NOT going to pay an extra $200 for that experience again...having said that, I have heard that many people have fun and it was not crowded during their "party" date...ours was mid-October, not Halloween or anything and I guess we picked the wrong night to go...so, having said ALL of that, we are not buying tickets to the MVMCP...I am going to have to pass on that! ALL other experiences at WDW have been totally and completely awesome, though! I just wanted to follow up with something good, because Disney is 99% GREAT and only 1% bad experiences for me!!!! :)

We struggled with trying to decide if MVMCP was right for us. It is our first trip, and so we wanted to make sure our boys got the most out of WDW. After reading reviews, we decided that $250 was just too much to pay for what you actually got. Instead, we booked the 50% off Packages at the Pirates League. At least here, I know tht the boys will get special treatment from a CM and have an amazing experience!

We had the same experience at MVMCP in 2007. A lot of people without wristbands were in the park meaning they never paid for tickets to the party and stayed anyway. I really hope they have fixed this problem. It was so crowded we never got to see the show we wanted even after standing in line twice for it. The parade was okay and the firworks were nice but not worth paying as much as we did IMO. We thought about giving the party another chance this year but my husband is still angry over the last party... A lot of the elements of the holiday season at Disney are available without attending the party. When we were there it didn't seem like there were really any more characters than usual either...we were very disappointed. I'm sure there are plenty of people who had a great time though. Perhaps go once. I think everyone should go once to see what they are or are not missing.

Yeah, I agree! I think it is not really worth the price when you experience what we both did! We will get to experience all the great holiday stuff and decorwithout the chaos...I agree that the fireworks were pretty good and the parade was decent, but the crowds and the people ruined it! I think it will be a long time before I pay for that again! However, the rest of the days and the whole trip were fabulous MINUS that little experience! LOL

I went to a sold out night last year and it was not only no fun, but it was downright miserable. You could hardly walk from the castle down Main Street and the events were impossible to attend. When I had planned my trip, I was told plan 30 to 40 minutes before the show so I had selected the events and times so we could do what we wanted but arrive early enough to get in. As soon as we saw the lines at Mickey's Night Before Christmas we knew it was going to be a frustrating night. You had to literally line up and watch the entire show before you could get in to watch the next show. My advice is go to the Osbourne Lights, they have snow over there and it won't cost you $50 extra. There is more than enough Christmas magic in the parks and resorts without the MVMCP. Have a wonderful time! Christmas at Disney is awesome! :santa:

I was there last year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I bought the tickets when they went on sale in May. The evening of the party, it poured and rained throughout most of the evening. The parade went through late and was a scaled down version. Due to the uncertainty of whether there would be two parades or not, I did what I normally would not do, but wait for the first one. It was worth it even if a lot of the parade was left out. Holiday wishes was beautiful and worth the wait and getting soaked. We saw the Twas the Night Before Christmas Show in the park on Friday so did not go see that. It was the last night of our stay so we were not interested in rides and DS was tired of seeing characters.

With all that said, to me it was worth it. There was such a feeling in the air different from the other nights we were at MK. My DH just offered to go back in Thanksgiving 2010 and the party will definitely be on our list of must do's.

We were at MNSSHP in September and I learned how to do the parties a little better. The parades for these events are fabulous. We caught the last show in front of the castle right before the first parade started. Then, we moved to a place next to Sleepy Hollow and watched the first parade. We loved it so much, that we got a spot on Main Street right before the second parade and watched it again. The second parade is less crowded. You get a curbside seat down on Main Street easily.

The other thing I learned is that I let DS control the day before the party. I had an early dining ressie the year before with a half day at MK. We came back to the room and rested but was back out to the park at 5:00 p.m. This year, I allowed him to choose what he wanted to do with knowing that he had to rest for the party. It made all the difference.

Well, enough with my ramblings. If you go, have fun!

We also went to MNSSHP 2 years ago, and I agree, the crowd the night we was there was terrible. This was one of the reason we decided last year to go at Christmas and do MVMCP. Like I said, we were really disappointed in the crowds there as well. To me, having to sit on the curb an hr. before the parade, or go stand in line an hr. before a show kinda takes the fun out of the night. Especiallly when peeps have children they are trying to entertain as well. With what tickets for the parties are costing it should be much more enjoyable. Just my thought.:sad1:
