Trump Apprentice Fired Twice

Oct 1, 2004 8:01 am US/Eastern

ALBANY, N.Y. ``Apprentice'' contestant Jennifer Crisafulli was told ``you're fired'' by Donald Trump this week.

Now she reportedly has lost her real job as well.

An official with the Manhattan firm where Crisafulli was a real estate agent told the Times-Union of Albany that she would not be welcomed back because of comments she made on Wednesday night's episode of ``The Apprentice.''

Crisafulli -- an Albany native living in Manhattan -- made remarks that were perceived by some as anti-Semitic. She has said she did not mean to offend.

I am not surprised. My jaw dropped to the floor when she said it on Wednesday.

You think this country has progressed on social issues, and then you hear someone say something as inappropriate as Jen did, and you realize how far we still have to go.

At the end of the show I said to my husband, "Who's going to hire her now?" There's no way she'll find a good job in New York.

I know most of the contestants are young, but don't they realize they are on tv and the whole world will see what the say and how they act?

During the competition, 2 older ladies came into the restaurant that the Apex (the women's) corporation had created. They were fairly finicky, and Jen spouted off to her team after that evening that "those two Jewish ladies" had raked them over the coals when they did their restaurant ratings. (The team that had scored the highest overall with their ratings won). Kept going on and on about the "Jewish ladies."

Stacy, one of the team members, who happens to be Jewish, was offended. There may have been more team members that were offended, but I don't recall.

Watching it, I was offended, and I'm not Jewish. Just was very inappropriate. Jen needed to take responsibility, not play the blame game.

this is from www.nbc.com ...

"While Mosaic met with the former mayor and his wife, Apex stewed in the suite. Jennifer C. said that the reviews for their restaurant were ruined by two diners:

"It was those two old Jewish bat ladies."

Stacy R. overheard this and in an interview said, "I'm Jewish and I'd like to understand Jen C's motives behind saying this." Jennifer C. then overheard Stacy R. talking about this issue with the other candidates. Jennifer C. accused Stacy R. of "contaminating" their living quarters by talking about the issue with everyone. In an interview, Stacy R. warned, "If Jen C. wants to bring me in the boardroom, she better be prepared for what she's gonna deal with." "

*********

It was the way she said it...I guess throwing in "bat" didn't help either...I just didn't like her because she talked way toooo much. Trump , George, and Carolyn had to tell her to keep quiet too many times.

She made a comment that her team loss was due to a couple of old Jewish women.

Their task was to run a restaurant and garner the highest rating from Zagats. Two elderly women (don't know if they were Jewish or not) gave her team some flack over the decor. The people from Zagats were anonymous.

My jaw dropped too when she made the comment, but I think Trump fired her for her poor mismanagement of the task at hand.

When DH and I were watching the show and I heard her say that I was floored! Did she forget that she was being taped and pretty much being interview for a job 24/7 while doing the show? Nobody would hire someone who would say that in a normal office interview much less on tv!

I wondered the same thing about all these reality shows in general-do they forget they're on national televison and that a lot of people are watching them? Some of these contestants really don't think before they open their mouths and insert foot! I would love to be with them when they watch themselves in action!

She was a complete FOOL to say that on tape... how the heck can she expect to sell in NYC after making a remark like that????

I personally took offense to the "old" remark. I personally love the opinions of the elderly, I see them as "wise" not stupid. Maybe if this woman had a little more "wisdom" she would still have a job...

the team as a whole picked the wrong type of restaurant for the neighborhood where they were located. the cusotmers didn't like it. and jennifer blamed the problem on two customers. even if she hadn't made the "Jewish" reference, it was poor form.

i must be missing something, if i say those two american women or those two mexican women or those two german women or those two arab women whats so different about those two jewish women?????

aside from the fact that she had no idea what ethnic group the women belong to...

she used a nasty tone to describe the women. their ethnicity had nothing to do with the matter -- whether they liked the retaurant or whether they unfairly criticized it.

and she employed a stereotype that Jewish women are supercritical.

and she made another contestant, who is Jewish, feel uncomfortable.

so you are saying she could have used any ethnic group name for them and you would still be ticked off

I have thought for the past couple of weeks that she had a very cocky attitude. I can't say I'm sorry that she was let go. Not only were her comments inappropriate, but she was also unwilling to accept responsibility for any outcome that could be seen as negative.

most probably, yes.

if she'd said "those two ladies sitting at table two, who ordered the such and such dish, they're the ones who did us in..." it would have sounded much different.

I believe she also said something about them only ordering an appetizer- insinuating (at least to me) that they were "cheap".

dalt01-Most people are aware of how groups of people are stereotyped. Are you saying you have never heard of this before?
Why is it necessary for any intelligent person to use someone's ethnicity or religion to describe who they are talking about? She could've said "those old bats", which is what most people would've said. But no- she said "those two old Jewish bat ladies". She was spouting off and put her foot in her mouth. Her remarks were most certainly showed her ignorance.

As a side note, most of these ladies seem to avoid taking any responsiblity for their mistakes. They continue to argue that they are not at fault, even when we all know they are. The girl with the really short hair (her name escapes me right now) refused to accept responsiblity for poor negotiating two weeks ago. We all heard her making the deal, yet she refused to take the blame.

karebear1, then if someone calls me and DW at a restaurant, those two american wasps i should get mad at them. we apparently can call a dog a dog but not one of those darn beagles, and it is the same to me they are two human beings who happen to be women and happen to be jewish. when we watch reality sometimes we actually see reality and sometimes we see ourselves and sometimes we dont like it.
