True Life: I'm Celibate

I love True Life on MTV, but why is this a story?

It's following a guy and a girl, each about 19-22. The girl has been celibate for a year, the guy for 5 months and *gasp* he doesn't drink either! I know they had to make it interesting, but these kids lives revolve around the fact that they don't have relations (not sure if the s word is allowed!). They talk about it in every scene, explaining it to people, the girl saying "he's breaking up with me because I don't have relations."

I didn't have relations before getting married, neither did my brother who just got married, and (as far as I know at least), my 18 yo brother doesn't. Yes, it was hard, but it wasn't something DH and I talked about all the time when we were dating. It's just crazy that this is such a big deal or so unusual that there has to be a TV special about it.

Maybe I'll get points for this, who knows.......I'm really really bored and would love some

I believe the issue with them is that they didn't used to be celibate. In fact quite the opposite, and are having difficulties adjusting. Especially since they haven't changed their social group or habits. For example the girl kept hanging out with someone she came out and said she not only slept with, but slept with when she had a boyfriend.

and the 3rd guy who stopped having relations with his girlfriend because she cheated once and he couldn't get past it needs some seriously help. He's obsessed and paranoid.

It's comforting to know others feel the same way as you do. No matter if it is that you want to be celibate or transgendered.

Yeah, I guess you are both right.

I was thinking if they made a True Life: I Don't Drink thing and followed me or DH or my brothers around that it would be an extremely boring show! There is nothing different or weird or unusual about our lives!

I wasn't paying much attention to the third guy on the show--that screaming match they had at the end....they need therapy.

Dude, I should have a True Life, True Life: I don't drink or smoke; but I am in a fraternity that holds 2 massive parties a weekend and I love Disney. Rare enough for these people?
