I wonder why DIS just didn't use a template of settings for XenForo that work for other forum sites?

On last week's podcast it was explained that the last version of the old forum software that could support a forum with as many messages as the DISboards have accumulated through the years was 7 years old. They were using 7-year old software. Xenforo no longer provided support for that version of the forums. In other words, DIS had to change forum software. The only other choice would have been to delete millions of threads and messages.

The old version of the software was vbulletin (very widely used, but rather old) and the new software is Xenforo.
