Trouble with Iphone5 and disboards app

I've had no problem accessing, posting, replying, or editing from my iPhone 5S via Safari.

I've also had no problem accessing, posting, replying, or editing from my iPad 2 via Safari when on wdwmagic.com forums which are also running on XenForo.

The problem is with the DISboards site. You should see the list of DISers who still aren't receiving email notifications. That's why the boards have been so quiet - a large number of posters aren't receiving any notifications.

And, I am receiving notifications on my iPhone.

I wonder if it has something to do with that I ALSO frequently post on my MacBook laptops and my desktop Mac?

Some who are reporting no notifications do appear to use their phones-only. Not sure if they are iOS devices.

I selected "no emails" so I wouldn't know if computer access in conjunction with phone access triggers email notification.

You're probably using an iPhone 6?

I can now access DIS from my iPhone 6. Before the switch, I could only access the resort page. I'm using safari and didn't even now there was an app prior. I looked from Tapatalk since that is very popular but it wasn't available. Whatever the change, it was a good one for me.

It's just that on some older iOS devices, you can't just choose a spot within the text to Edit. A few days ago, when I would Select > Cut and edit, I then couldn't move anywhere else except to Select > Cut again.

For instance, I can't move the cursor to iOS, I would have to Select > Cut. I'm on my iPad 2 but can maneuver around in my 6 Plus.

Editing after posting works perfectly. Editing prior to posting is beyond tedious.

This happens with my iPad. I didn't realize editing worked better after posting, though that's not always practical.

I never liked the app and always have used safari for disboards. I almost never get on from my laptop.

I'm so glad I read this, because I have been trying to use the app too. I didn't know it didn't work for anyone anymore. I will use the browser now. Thank you.

The app is not endorsed by disboards, it isn't coming back because the people who started it are not updating the software for it to work again.
I spoke to Web master Kathy and she explained how they never actually had anything to do with the original app, and the reason they did this upgrade was to make things easier for mobile users.

But it's not a problem with the Dis in general, because many of us can do all those things without a single problem, from our i-devices. My ancient iphone4 does those things perfectly. Sometimes it's a bit slower than I want it to be, and it feels glitchy, but when I slow down magically the glitches disappear. (aka, not a glitch, but a Molly issue LOL).

Just brought it up with Dh's work ipad3 and I could edit in just the same way. Put your finger into the reply screen, wait until you see the blinky cursor thing (aren't you impressed by my technical words?), drag your finger to where you want to edit, and go for it.

...the reason they did this upgrade was to make things easier for mobile users.

Which is actually quite sad, because I loved the app when it worked and didn't bring me to my app buying page for some videogame.

I miss the dropdown menu of boards. I HATE having to go back to the main list of forums. Sigh.

And if someone knows how to get the dropdown, please oh please tell me.

It's not a dropdown, so much as a pop-up.

Look for the grey bar at the top and bottom of the list of threads on this page. At the far right side of that gray bar, you'll see a little blue arrow, pointing diagonally upwards. That pops up a list of forums, very much like the old drop-down.

The same arrows are also in the gray bars at the top and bottom of each board page.

The dropdown is in the highlighted portion of the Header next to Theme Parks... it's the section on the far right with the arrow pointing to the NE.

And, yes, I hesitated to answer you because I cannot edit my text before posting. Yet, from my iPad 2, editing is fully functional when I post on wdwmagic.com which uses the same platform as DIS. It is a DIS problem, not everyone is experiencing it, but it is a problem stemming from DIS, not our devices.

I think the folks having issues with notifications are on a variety of systems.

I haven't had any issues beyond my eyesight issues with the first theme-sets. With the introduction of the darker (now medium), I do much better. Again, that was a by-product of my age, not the software. I'm doing ok on my desktops (both win7) and my phone (moto-x).

One thing I like about this software is the ability to watch a forum. So I have a very few forums I read regularly, i've set them all to watched and now that's my new forum landing page:

On the iPhone posting issue, I wonder if you changed either or both of these setting if you'd see an improvement:

I checked my Preferences for DIS and wdwmagic.com's forums and "rich text editor" is checked for both. If I uncheck "rich text" for DIS, then it creates an overall delay in text appearing onscreen and when deleting/back spacing. It becomes a choppy texting experience. But, I can maneuver within the body of the text.

I have found that if I hide my keyboard when using "rich text," then I can maneuver in my text to edit. Hiding the keyboard to maneuver is much easier than Select > Cut, and I prefer that to delayed/choppy text appearing.

I wonder why DIS just didn't use a template of settings for XenForo that work for other forum sites? And, thanks for your suggestion!

Oh glad I found this thread. I have been trying to get into the app for days now and couldn't get in. Eventually I just signed on through safari. Good to know!

This explains my problems with the Disboard app lately. Today I downloaded the Mercury app and made Disboards my main page. So far it seems to be working well.

How about leaving rich text on but unchecking the flash uploader?

I know it seems counter-intuitive, but here's my line of thinking: iDevices and Flash have been incompatible. if a Flash component is trying to work while you're trying to post you might get weirdness.
Anyway, it's worth a shot, no?

I'm one step ahead of you! :-) And, I still can't direct my cursor without hiding my keyboard.

I enjoy the science of "differential diagnosis" but this is getting to be a little too much. o_O

Have you tried covering the apple logo with a samsung one?
