Hey all -- I need some professional DIS help with this one! I was searching the threads before I posted and didnt see anything with a concrete answer! Also, I was unsure on where to post this, so if its on the wrong board let me apologize in advance.:confused3

So, here is my dillemma...I am going with DGF in the fall, we have 7 day park hoppers...I, most likely, will be going in June (me and DGF 2 year anniversarry). Should I be thinking about upgrading the 7 day park hoppers to APs? I am trying to figure out the math but its all so confusing!! Has anyone done this upgrade before, and can it be done over the phone??

:scared1:Help is appriciated!!:scared1:

Edit
Okay -- Here are the figures I have so far...

2 AP (tax incl) = $1062.88
2 - 7 Day Park Hoppers (tax incl) = $641.14
------------------------------------------
$421.74 = Difference to upgrade to 2 APs

2 - 3 Day Base (tax incl) = $477.12

If all my math is correct I will be saving $55.38

Can someone let me know if all of this is correct?!?

Also -- By upgrading to APs we would be able to take advantage of a 20% discount on our room for June...looks like a win-win?

good thinking...hope it works out. I've heard if you are planning two trips within a year then the AP pays for itself. Plus I think you get discounts at restaurants and shops. :cool1:

Are those 7 day tickets part of a package? Because I don't think you can upgrade those till you're at a park. It can't be done online or over the phone.
If you're not on a package, then I'd just get APs on that first trip.

If the tickets are part of the package you will need to upgrade them to AP's once you get there. It's very easy to do and doesn't take up a lot of time. Yes, the AP's also gives you discounts on shopping! You can also purchase the Tables in Wonderland Card which gives you 20% off table service restaurants including alcohol. You can also use the TiW Card at any resort that only has a food court...like the Value Resorts.

They are a part of a package...my original booking is for this September, but my second trip will be in a month...can I get the tickets for the September package and upgrade them even though its so far in advance? TIA.

I don't think you'll be able to get them that far in advance. Can you cancel the package and just book a room only? Unless you're on free dining, that would work.

I am not on free dining...Not sure I want to risk cancelling my entire package as I got a decent disocunt, and the entire package is paid off...and I have my ADRs exactly the way I want them, lol. Looks like im just going to stick with getting the 2 day base tickets for my June trip.

I'm doing the same thing. One benefit you are forgetting is the AP discounts you will receive!

How about this - upgrade your June ticket to an AP. Downgrade the tickets for your September visit to a 1 day base ticket for everyone. Once you all get your September tickets, the other guests can upgrade them as they need. You keep your base ticket for another trip, renew your AP, whatever. If the ticket isn't used, it never expires.

Then, if an AP rate comes out for your dates, you can switch your current package to an AP ticketless package. That will have no effect on your ADRs; once you pass the 180 day mark for each day of your vacation, the ADRs are no longer dependent on your reservation.

WOW! You see...this is the very reason why I LOVE these boards, I would have never thought about doing this!! Now heres the next question....will i be refunded the money that I have already paid for the September tix?

If you explain why, you may get some pixie dust and a refund without a change fee. If the CM won't do it for you, ask for Guest Services. It can't hurt to ask!

If you're before 45 days of arrival, you should be able to make changes to your package reservation with no fees.
