Anyone that is headed to WDW (like us) here is the latest projected map from the National Hurricane center. Hope it doesn't go as planned.

I'm flying from London to Orlando on Sunday, via Miami. I REALLY hope it doesn't go as planned! :sad2:

We're driving down from CT on Saturday- checking in on Sunday.

Really, really, really hope it doesn't go as projected!!

Don't worry too much yet. The forecast error for a track 5 days out can be hundreds of miles. And the track takes Emily over the island of Hispanola, which has mountains that can badly weaken a storm.

I just hate flying through storms and whatever happens to this one it would seem I'm still gonna have two very bumpy flights :(

Flying to MCO on Monday and watching the storm. It should be over by then, but sometimes storms stall and/or paths change. I hope it'll weaken soon!

It's gonna rain.

The storm isn't going to be that bad. If it makes a Cat 1 storm, it will be only barely. Nobody even evacuates for a Cat 1 except for the elderly, infirmed and snowbirds.

By the time it gets up to Orlando, it will be a rain storm.

Believe it or not, we are not living in oil up to our knees and dodging hurricanes year round down here.

I'm more concerned about my flight being delayed and cancelled, as has happened twice before. Rain and wind don't phase me, I live in Wales :goodvibes

We were at Disney a few years back when I tropical storm hit. We just put on our rain ponchos and kept going. I have pictures of my DH and DD playing checkers in the Magic Kingdom.

We are coming in Sunday morning. I hope it goes away. I was there for Hurricane Jeanne and i don't like hurricanes.

We are also driving down from CT and leaving on Saturday arriving in Orlando on Sunday. We've never driven down before with the kids - not sure what to expect!:scared1:

Hope you have a safe trip down and Emily is nowhere to be found when we get there!:thumbsup2

Stopped at the Dollar Store on my way home from work and picked up a vast quantity of rain ponchos. If it rains, we'll have hot, wet plastic to cover ourselves with. If life goes the way it usually does, purchasing the ponchos will insure there's not a drop of rain all week.

As long as I remember to pack them.

OH PLEASE....I DRIVE in Tropical Thunderstorms (but please don't if you never have...)
I never leave unless it a 4 or 5 and only because I don't want to hang out with no electricity or clean water for a few days. If your not on the beach, it really isn't that bad.

Orlando, being in the middle of Florida, is a good spot, because the land slows the hurricane down and it turns into a old fashioned nasty thunderstorm. Disney has RARELY closed its doors due to a hurricane. Wasn't Mr. Disney smart for putting it in the middle of Florida. ;)

Geez...if you saw what I drove through today to get to work, you wouldn't be worried.

pss...Our storms move very fast too, so its gone up to TN and KY before you know it.

As locals we are taking some days off to play in the rain. We are hoping the storm runs some people off!! ;)

Does anyone have info on how MCO is with things like this? We are due to fly down and arrive at 9:00 on sun morning.

I know airports (at least around here) can be very different as far as what it takes for them to start piling up delays or even close (BOS is always so much more effected by snow than MHT is even though most time MHT gets more snow).

I relize no one can really know what this storm will bring but perhaps someone knows what MCO's track record is in these type situations.

Has me wondering if I should cancel flight and drive the 22 hours down.:scared1:

No, don't cancel, if there is a delay it will be short and not worth driving instead. The delay would be due to visibility, severe wind or debri on the landing strip, all of which will be short delays. Our weather passes very quickly and we are good at recovering from any damage, especially the airports!

thanks for the info stitch. I Guess it would be more problematic getting a flight out as well since as I saw someone post on another thread they sometimes move aircraft out ahead of a storm. Since we will be coming in at least that part should not be a big problem.

Also it looks like it my be outta there by sun morning as well (just trying to have positve thoughts :thumbsup2)

thanks again:woohoo:

Too early to worry. Storm tracks do change quite a bit and ones on a track like this tend to shift more eastward away from Florida. The update at 11pm shows a shift and the storm centre is now expected to stay offshore. It will be clearer by tomorrow night and each day onward.
