Tron roller coaster @MK?

I think its going to be one of those weeks where allot comes out.....all the sites want to be the first just thought I would share because they feel confident about it

But it is not confirmed.
Disney has not confirmed it.
There is NO website out there that Disney gives info to.

While won't say never, and while it makes sense economically for Disney to replicate rides, and while Disney does make some bad decisions .... Tron does not fit with the Magic Kingdom - especially size wise. This ride will dwarf half the park, will dwarf Space Mountain and could likely be very distracting to the Castle. Big enough it will practically put a shadow over Storybook Land. I would be really sad to see this in MK.

This ride does however fit size wise, theme wise and into the footprint at Ellen's Energy. I know there is the rumor of Guardians there ... but their presence makes more sense in DHS with long term planning.

Theme-wise I do see it fitting in a way into Tomorrowland (or at least the idea of "what we though the Future would be 20-50 years ago"). I agree the size is an issue, though guess they could adapt it a bit and there is some land out beyond/behind Space Mountain - so with a mini-berm separating Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus, they could probably make it work

yup - and if they do get one thing right people will remember that more than the 10 things they get wrong

I totally agree with this and the take on it fitting in epcot.....but from disneys side they are going to want to have something big for magic kingdom for the 50th and this would definitely be it

Agree they will want MK ready for 50th but I don't think putting a monster out-of-proportion to the rest of the park coaster in. And it will sit in the sorry Tomorrowland with multiple attractions that need to go or have major rehabs. Their money would be better spent in updating the entire land.

But we'll see this week. I personally will wait on Disney instead of believing these websites, WDWMagic SuperPosters and the Twitter world.

Because it is futuristic doesn't mean it fits. Tomorrowland right now has no focus or cohesiveness ... that will continue if all the money is thrown at this thing. Yes they have land they can go to BUT they have to get over or under the train tracks. If they turn this ride that direction they have to redesign .... and I think their point of replicating these days is to save money. Looking at the existing one .... it even looks like Epcot's FutureWorld.

And honestly MK needs lots of work in spots to be ready for the 50th but the last thing it needs is a reason for bigger crowds. It has become pretty tight as it is. Put this thing at Epcot that has ample space and capacity and lower attendance.

Not just because it is "futuristic" - more because it is a view of the future from the past ... but I fully agree that it needs more cohesiveness and a way to handle more crowds (or at least not draw more crowds to MK when the focus seems to be building draws at the other parks to spread the crowds out). You already have your E-Ticket in Tomorrowland so perhaps using that speedway land for multiple smaller rides (or even refreshing the speedway with electric cars or maglev or something, and then another attraction or two build over it) might be better

... but Disney seems focused on fewer, bigger rides at this point

"We feel fairly confident about calling this announcement “confirmed” since several unrelated sources within the Walt Disney Company are now providing this information."

Why not 100% confident instead of just "fairly confident"?
Like Fox Mulder I want to Believe, but like Dana Scully I need to see the proof.

I can't wait for this to be confirmed, Tomorrowland needs a boost like this and Tron would take major pressure off Space Mountain in that area of the Park. Get rid of Stitch while they're at it and replace with something new. Keep Buzz, keep Astro Orbiter, Peoplemover and Carousel of Progress for the nostalgic types but give Tomorrowland a boost into Tomorrow!

I agree with Missyrose on that point. I'll wait another week for an official announcement at D23 before I'm completely sold.
Still, it is an intriguing rumor/news. Can't say I'll miss the speedway as it is basically the opposite of futuristic. I just have to wonder if a Tron coaster is the best play for a new major attraction.
It would be interesting to see all the other options that were/are on the table first. Either way, I don't think I can complain about changes to Tomorrowland, it could really use something.

I love "articles" that blare headlines of "confirmation" but then have no actual confirmed information or real sourcing beyond "people."

I agree with a post I saw on another thread about this topic - this week there will likely be a lot of "news" like this as sites want to be first to have things before D23 ... and I figure sites assumed more people will remember the one story they get right vs the 10 they get wrong

But definitely seems shady/click-bait to use the word "CONFIRMED" in the headline rather than even something like "Further evidence of ..."

@HopperFan weren't we just discussing the speedway going away ;)

while I would love the Tron coaster to come, I think Epcot is a better space for it. the speedway still needs to go though

Oh I've not said I don't want Speedway to go as you know - I'll be the first one cheering :cheer2: as it takes it's last lap. But not this. DS has actually taken the Tron attraction overlay and put it into Tomorrowland and Epcot. There is no doubt that building it in Tomorrowland will be an eyesore and overpower the park. It truly is a massive building. Putting it in Epcot - it fits. It actually works perfect there.

Any attraction from the 1980 and beyond would make Tomorrowland more futuristic than it is now. Everything in Tomorrowland is about as old and enjoyable as River Country is today. There is absolutely nothing futuristic in Tomorrowland. Maybe the only thing is a rumor in the future.

Hope this is true. Tomorrowland needs a boost in something that at least looks futuristic! lol.
