Tron roller coaster @MK?

Thought Disney gave up on having Tomorrowland be "realistically" futuristic years ago with the rehab in mid 90's? Wasn't the new theme "the tomorrow that never was" or something like that?

As I recall at the time, it was a loosely interpreted vision of what imagineers living in the 1950's would think that the future would look like.

Not going to lie I always liked the idea of the future that was always interpreted by Jules Verne for tomorrowland. GAve a real distinct look

Yeah they need to at least decide on a specific futuristic theme. We all know that the current management is never going to spend the $$$ to keep updating it to "realistically" reflect the changing technology required to accurately depict the future.

Plus it would be a fool's errand to do so. Between Tomorrowland and Future World it's clear the concept isn't tenable, the little attention that is given is split. But you could go retro-futurism for Tomorrowland or a spaceport as a previous poster said. Keeping Future World a little more focused on near future with the worlds fair type exhibits. There's quite a few good ideas but management would have to be focused on refreshing every 18 months which would be asking a whole lot it seems. It's too bad, such a wasted opportunity.

I recently had to make a business trip to Hong Kong and Shanghai. I was fortunate enough to get time in both Disneyland parks. The TRON coaster would be a great addition to WDW! It is a really good thrill ride but is a quick change over. The ride is about as long as Rock and Roller coaster.

I wouldn't care which park they put it in as long as they bring it to the US. My first vote would be where the tomorrowland speedway is. The ride would help the busy park and fits perfect into the theme of the area.

I would like to see tron ride in Tomorrowland @ Magic Kingdom will be awesome!

Anyone else think the ride vehicles look strangely uncomfortable on the Tron coaster? I get that they are modeled after the actual vehicles in the movie but they still look unconventionally weird to me.

Man, I can't tell you how much i would love to have this ride here. I was one of the few that loved the movie. Tommorowland speedway is great place for it. The speedway is a giant chunk of land for such an old ride concept that is pretty much available at many theme parks around the country. The building that the coaster is in would look awesome in that area.

I think something along the line sof it woudl be a great fit. To me the Speedway doens't really fit into Tomorrowland, everything else has a more futuristic/spaceport type look to it and the Speedway jsut looks old and retro. Don't think it'd be as bad if we had something like Disneyland has where it was more unique and weaving around through woods or something, but the track at WDW is very plain and boring too. Just kind of make a short figure 8 so it's not even an appealing expereince to me, espceaily when you get stuck behind someone going extremely slow liekalst time i rode it.
However if they put in a Tron lightcycle ride, either a clone of Shanghai's or a new unique ride, it'd be much better. It still has the racing/vehicle theme that woudl be replacing theh Speedway but would fit in much better aesthetically with the rest of Tomorrowland as well and be more exciting.

This would be a wonderful addition to Tomorrowland! Can't say I'll be sorry to see the Speedway go.

Maybe a full on fire but until it's officially announced, it's still a rumor no matter what a given website wants to put on their blog
I do wish folks around here would use the proper terms in their thread titles. It's like click bait (yeah, I know it's not). Still frustrating to click and find out it's just another rumor post

The biggest thing I got out of it was they think Disney could build it in 2 years or less. When have they built anything new in 2 years or less?

I was going to out this on rumors but it looks like its confirmed http://wdwnt.com/blog/2017/07/confi...way-magic-kingdom/#232217661-tw#1499692432821

But it is not confirmed.
Disney has not confirmed it.
There is NO website out there that Disney gives info to.

While won't say never, and while it makes sense economically for Disney to replicate rides, and while Disney does make some bad decisions .... Tron does not fit with the Magic Kingdom - especially size wise. This ride will dwarf half the park, will dwarf Space Mountain and could likely be very distracting to the Castle. Big enough it will practically put a shadow over Storybook Land. I would be really sad to see this in MK.

This ride does however fit size wise, theme wise and into the footprint at Ellen's Energy. I know there is the rumor of Guardians there ... but their presence makes more sense in DHS with long term planning.

I think I would rather see this in Epcot Future World than in Tomorrowland, so close to Space Mountain.

To add, I think in Epcot, the post show could be a history of computing, to keep that Epcot vibe and still fit in with TRON. At any ate, I'm not unhappy to have it coming to the US. It does look like a cool ride.

I totally agree with this and the take on it fitting in epcot.....but from disneys side they are going to want to have something big for magic kingdom for the 50th and this would definitely be it
