Trixie Belden fans, post here!

I LOVED the Trixie Belden books...and the Betsy-Tacy, and Beany Malone, and Donna Parker, and Nancy Drew and the Dana Girls...I've never talked to anyone else that read the Betsy-Tacy series and Beany Malone. Now that I know Beany Malone can be bought again I'm buying them all. I was born in 1961, when I was reading Trixie Belden I think there were around 10....always liked the first one, the Arizona holiday one, and the one with the uncle who turned out to be an imposter...and then the one where Honey and Trixie went camping in the trailer. My favorite Betsy-Tacy...any of the High School ones, and Betsy and the Big World ? Favorite Beany Malone...where she drives cross country, and then the one where she is married and her friend Kay comes back to Denver...also the very first one. Spring to Remember is my favorite Donna Parker.

Another booky kindred spirit. I LOVE Besty and the Great World. I reread the high school books every year--I will never grow up. MY favorite is Betsy's Wedding. Beany and the Beckoning Road and Tarry Awhile are both really good Beanies! I think Pick a New Dream is my favorite. Did you ever read the Katie Rose/Stacy Belford books by the Beany author? They were good, too.

I started reading Trixie when I was 10. I SO wanted to have a group of friends like that! I think my man would have to be Brain, uh, Brian.

My favorite book was the one where the girl made the salad with the whole apples and Brian was nearly poisoned by the seeds. But I loved all of them. My cousin had some of the hard cover ones, but all of mine were paperbacks. I just loved them!

Did anybody ever read the "Three Investigators" mysteries? They had three boys Jupiter Jones, Pete, and somebody. The boys liked to solve mysteries and Jupiter's aunt and uncle had a salvage yard where the boys had an old trailer for their office. It was some sort of Alfred Hitchcock junior series. My mom used to read those to me when I was in about 3rd grade. I think my DS would be much more into those than Trixie. He really likes Encyclopedia Brown right now.

Wow! Talk about a blast from the past!! I loved Trixie Belden. I also read all the Nancy Drew's and Hardy Boy's series, as well as Donna Parker, and I also loved the Cherry Ames series. Actually I read just about everything I could get my hands on. The summer between 4th and 5th grade I think I read a book a day!

Thanks for bringing back some happy memories!

It has been so so so long since I read a Trixie Belden mystery. I do remember that her best friend was named Honey Wheeler. Didn't they do a book about caves? For some reason I remember learning the word spelunker from that book.

Yes, that was the Bob-White Cave one when they were in the Ozarks & looking for ghost fish. And I think there was a lot of spelunk in that book.

Bob-white! Bob-white! Is everyone whistling? But no one's mentioned missing Regan, the groom. Remember, poor Honey's parents had to have someone to take care of all their horses. Boy, I loved those books! I'd have to say my favorite was also "The Mystery off Glenn Road" only because that was the first one I read. And I can remember when there were only 10 Trixie Belden books. Didn't Regan donate the gatehouse to be the Bob-Whites' clubhouse? It seems, if I can remember that far back, that he'd inherited it.

Oh, sorry, but I have to post this. Alliecats mentioned him on p. 4:
How cute is that! I liked Jim mostly but sometimes Brian, it depended. I always disliked Honey's spoiled yet sensitive cousin, Ben Riker. If I were to reread them now, I'd probably think Reagan was hot.
I really thought I was Trixie Belden's #1 fan until I met alliecats.
Guess I'll have to be Trixie's #2 fan :sad2: .

I don't recall the Katie Rose books...now I'm stressed that I've missed something good. I used to read all the time...now various boards such as the Dis boards have taken over, and I don't think that is a good thing. I think I've read three books this month, which is a low for me. Speaking of childhood books...anyone remember "Red Shoes for Nancy". I read that a couple times a year, actually have a copy, and remember checking it out of the library and there was a clipping tucked inside with her obit...real upbeat for a 12-year old.

Y'all have such good memories...

I did them a little backwards... got the "The Mystery of the Emeralds" and "Mystery on the Mississipi" for Christmas... then read backwards from there. I'm thinking I was about 10 so that would have been 1968. I did enjoy them - and remember being dissappointed that there weren't any more... Now looking at the web page that has the books listed I see the next one wasn't published until 1970 ... and I'm sure I was onto something else.

Reading was my favorite thing to do - I would have rather read than watch television.

Mysteries were my favorite - Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys.. there was a series of "boy books" called 'Rick Brandt" I think... they all sort of mush together on me...

Little House
Betsy-Tacy... I used to wish we had a hill at the end of our street to sled down!
now this is a little weird - but I LOVED Earl Stanley Gardner's "Perry Mason" series.. laugh.... my mother had to give special permission for me to take them out of the library because I only had a "junior" card - and you had to have an "adult" card to take them out. :rotfl:

I would basically read anything I could get my hands on... getting in trouble in class - not for talking .. but for always having a book hidden inside where I could take a peek when were were supposed to be doing worksheets.

I liked the Perry Mason books too. I wish I could read the way I used to...people could talk or even yell at me and I wouldn't hear it...is it the stress of adult life, or is it the lifestyle we have ? I've been reading a book about getting rid of technology, and going back to nature...the author discussed how all of a sudden he can be engrossed in difficult books...he is younger than I am, so this is new for him. I am seriously thinking about buying land, living off of it as much as possible, and reading again the way I use to.

Yeah, I put the fan in fanatic!

I forgot to mention...off the OP's original post...I also loved the "Double Date" and "Showboat Summer" series...de Jardin ?

Ooh, maybe Rosemary du Jardin? And wasn't there one about a teenage girl whose mom had been "away" (read - in a mental institution) and she was adjusting to being back home again? Can't believe I just thought of this...

I LOVE Trixie Belden books - I have 1-34 in my basement. DD just started reading them. I found out they went up to 37. I'll have to track down the last 3!!!!

Another Trixie Belden fan here.. Also loved The Bobbsey Twins when I was even younger.. I was a fanatic about reading.. Mom said I learned how to read when I was two and from that time on they couldn't keep me in enough books.. LOL..

Wanna guess how many boxes of books my son-in-law has had to haul over here from my old house?? :rotfl:

They actually go up to 39. I've seen them on ebay, but they usually go for $50-$100 a piece. And, believe me, they are not worth it! They really dumbed down the last 5 and they're bad. I'm glad I have them so that my series is complete, but also glad I got them when they came out and didn't pay a lot for them.
