Trixie Belden fans, post here!

Wasn't there one where Jim gave Trixie a braclet while they were on an airplane or something? Then held her hand? My best friend and I in 6th grade read that part over and over to each other. It was soooooo romantic! Kim

OMG! That was my favorite one! I read it over and over again. When I was 11, I thought that part was wonderful and romantic too!

I didn't remember any of the titles until you guys started adding them.

In doing some research, I've determined that only books 1-16 were available when I was a child. I'm surprised to see that there were so many more after that. (Of course, I've never read any of the newer ones - 1977 and up. Maybe I should. :))

What great memories...

Another Trixie fan here. I used to have a lot of the hardback ones, but not sure where they went. I do have the collection in paperback. I tried to get my daughter interested, but no luck.

I grew up in a small town and we had horses. So we would all pretend we were Trixie, Honey, Jim, etc and be looking for adventures like they had. No luck, though we were convinced that bad men from the big city used the two abandoned houses, that were in the country where we rode our horses, for evil deeds!

I also liked Donna Parker, Cherry Ames, some Nancy Drew.

Wow, what memories this brings back!

Loved Trixie!! I don't know that I could pick a favorite--so many come to mind (and most have been mentioned already.) I still have all my books (although some of them are falling apart from use!) I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to read them. I've been collecting the new editions for her.

If anyone is interested, there is a huge Trixie Belden community at http://barbln.org/trixie/ . It's a fun, friendly place with message boards, book info, links to other Trixie sites and even fanfiction (some better than others ;) )

I also loved Betsy-Tacy, Anne of Green Gables, Emily of New Moon, the Little House books, Madeleine L'Engle, and Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles to name a few. :)

You're going to think I'm as old as dirt when I say this, but . . . When I was a kid, none of the girls wore bluejeans. I nagged my mother about getting some until she ordered me a pair from Sears. They had an elastic waist, so they must have looked really stupid, but I just loved them b/c they made me like Trixie.

Didn't they call them dungarees?

oh what a great page. Reading them over - this one was a favorite too

11. The Mystery at Bob-White Cave (1963)
The gang heads to Uncle Andrew's fishing lodge in the Ozarks. Trixie gets everyone to go spelunking in hopes of finding some cave fish and winning $500 for charity. But it looks like there's competition from an Englishman, plus Trixie doesn't quite trust their guide. Throw in a "ghost" cabin and you've got another mystery for Trixie to solve.

I remember being very young when I started reading these -- they were more older sister's books. I had a tendency to make-up words that seemed to fit when I couldn't read them. Thus, for years I thought Trixie had a brother named "Brain" instead of "Brian" which I though was really really odd. :rotfl:

Or, as Trixie called them, dungarees! :wave2:

I can't believe that so many of us loved Trixie Belden books! I have all the books. When my mother's house burned down alot of my things were destroyed. I'm glad I had the books at my house.

I think my favorites were of course, the the first book that hooked me, then The Red Trailer Mystery.

Toby'sFriend - "Brain!" Ha ha ha - you're killing me!! That is too funny. I loved the Ozark one - and have always looked at any pale-colored fish with deep interest. Now I know I was flashing back to a Belden, hoping it was the elusive missing fish that Trixie was looking for!!!!

Also, Mrs. van de what's-her-name (Pol?) who lived down the road and had the beautiful antiques - didn't she make really good cookies too?

And Miss Trask - didn't we all want a Miss Trask? And poor, delicate Honey, with all that money and those horses RIGHT THERE IN HER OWN BACKYARD - and how conveniently everyone soon had a horse of their own to ride???

I really loved these books - can you tell?

Aghh, what was her name?? Mrs. Vanderpoel? (sp?) She made the windmill cookies.
I guess my favorites were the first 6. I remember after I read the first one (fourth grade), I decided I HAD to have a brother. Only, I wanted an older brother. We lived in urban L.A., so no abandoned mansions nearby. So I used to go out back and check the shed behind our duplex. Never an older brother did I find. Or a younger one either. Sigh....

Oh, Allie, didn't you check the dirt floor for the many gemstones sure to have been left there previously by thieves using your shed as a hideout? A prime opportunity missed! And you call yourself a girl detective...

You know, I always wanted one of those windmill cookies. So, I just googled 'windmill cookies' and found a bunch of places you can order them from and some recipes, too. I might just have to finally have a windmill cookie! :teeth:

Uh, Liz, actually I did look for diamonds--even dug for them in case they had been really smashed in there.
 But I though I might have already shared too much. :earboy2:

Whew - I was worried there for a minute.

OK, confess - a little secret crush on....

Jim? "Brain?" Mart? Bad-boy Dan from the CITY?

I'm a Jim girl...

well, Jim had the advantage of not only being filthy rich -- but he could ride Jupiter!

What more could you ask for in a man? :confused3

Hey hands off! I called him on page 1.

J/K, I'll share...

Since alliecats has confessed so much, I guess I should too. In my defense, I was like 9 or 10 at the time, but I have "my name here" loves Jim inside hearts written on the inside of my closet. Everytime I go to my mom's house and get something out of the closet I see it written there. I was such a goober  .

Oh Bengalbelle, that is so precious! You WERE a goober, but don't you love seeing it? It seems to me a lot of us were inside reading Trixie Belden while the other, more mature girls were already riding in jalopies...

How cute is that! I liked Jim mostly but sometimes Brian, it depended. I always disliked Honey's spoiled yet sensitive cousin, Ben Riker. If I were to reread them now, I'd probably think Reagan was hot.
