Hello All! I need your help! A friend will be traveling with an infant and child who use pacifiers. She would like me to make her a clip to hang them on so they don't get lost and doesn't like the ones in the stores.
Question to all of the pacifier parents out there: would you like the kind with velcro better, or snaps where the pacifier attaches? Do you like a plastic or metal clip to attach it to clothing and stroller harnesses? Have you used one you like or would never buy again? Can you help with explaining what kind you use and why? Thanks so much! TIA I appreciate your help :thumbsup2

Tell her to be careful, the ones that you buy in the store have super short ribbon length to help prevent choking accidents. That's always my biggest concern with them.

What about the ones in the store does she not like? It's a design that's sort of hard to get away from. You need an end that attaches to the pacifier, and an end that attaches to the clothing.

She needs to tell you what she wants/expects and doesn't like from the current ones on the market before you spend your time recreating the wheel for her.

I believe she just doesn't like the way they look? She has only seen a pooh one, and maybe one other kind? She ants cute and functional, I have been researching them online, but have seen velcro/snap and metal/plastic clips. Just wondering what others use and like?

I like the Boogin Head pacifier clips. Metal clip at one end, a short strap, and a loop at the other end.

I'd stay away from anything metal - it can get hot in the sun, can't it?

my first thought was not getting hot but rusting. They get slobbered on and things spilled on them and they need to be cleaned. The metal part could get rusty......:confused3 I think velcro would be the best way to go.

I used the velcro ones with my son. I found they got dirty and he figured out pretty quick how to get the soorther of the teether.
With my daughter Im using Bink Link. It has a metal clip and it looks like a candy necklace. Now that she's older she can get it undone but very rarely does.

I thought Bink Links were choking hazards? They're made with wooden beads, aren't they?

I liked the clips vs the velcro as they get worn looking. Plastic clips.

I really like the ones that looked like tiny stuffed animals.

I have always liked and used the MAM pacifier clips: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3977485&CAWELAID=523024949

Depending on the type of pacifier you can use velcro or the ring to go around the pacifier. The part that clips to the clothing is plastic. This have always worked really well for me and my children. I have tried metal clip ones, and they always left indentions on the clothing.

With the MAM ones, you can use the rubber circle to attach "button" type pacifiers (like MAMs), or you can undo the velcro and take that piece off and attack the velcro loop to any other type of pacifier. The only ones this might not work for, or be more difficult to use with is the Soothie pacifier.

This site has some homemade ones: http://www.ohsewcutedesigns.com/p/pacifier-clips.html

The MAM pacifier clips are great. We used them in The World w/o incident on our last trip. In fact we used them every day until the baby was about 14 mos old and began pulling them off of his clothes.

I have tried the Pooh one - not worth it.

Same with the metal clips - they mark the clothes.

They have a lot of MAM clips at Target, WalMart, and even Babies R Us

We used both the MAM and her metal clip one on vacation. We ended up buying the MAMs at Target one day when we misplaced her metal one. The MAM one worked great when we carried her in the Baby Bjorn. The metal one was better for the stroller ( which she hated being in) because it was right next to her face so the short cord was fine.

We had the Pooh one and liked it. Granted we only used it for one week and that was on our trip to Disney when DS was 6 months old. A few weeks after our trip DS started refusing his paci!

my son can rip the holders off that you can get at the store, but still wanted to throw his pacifier around.

so i went to the craft store and bought some ribbon. i got the 1/2 inch kind with a little texture, the plain flat ribbon didn't work too well. also the ribbon with the writing on it...he sucked all the letters off of one. :rotfl:

i had those metal clips, like the kind your work ID is on. i measured the store pacifier holders and cut the ribbon that length. bought some sew on velcro and made a loop on each end.

he can't get those clips off and the pacifier isn't on the ground. but now he doesn't want them clipped on him, he'd rather hand his pacifier to us and we hold it.

i keep telling him mickey needs his pacifiers for babies, hoping that he'll give them up. no such luck yet.
