(in my best Charlie Brown to Lucy voice) THAT'S IT!!!!!

Whew, glad that monkey's off my back. Rich, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.... and thanks for the bday wishes.

Welcome, Mike! Beautiful picture, Missy -- though it looks cold. Where was it taken? (Movies, I know. geography, not so much)

Thanks!! It was taken on top of Stone Mountain. It was a pretty cold and windy day that day!

Happy Birthday to you!:cheer2: :bday:

Happy Birthday, Erica!!

Missy...nice photo!

Now...did we get hours/miles this last week from KiraG, TnTsParty, or Disneygirlinnj? We're missing you! It's ok if you took the week off...just want to make sure y'all are doing ok! :goodvibes

I'd like to do a wine tour by bike. I sort of did that a few years ago on a Backroads trip in the Calif. wine country.

Today for me was physical therapy for my shoulder, which is doing quite well. I'm working on strengthing the little rotator cuff muscles now, which is what I will need to accomplish before the PT and Ortho let me swim. I'm doing a tri on 4/4, dangit, so need to get ready! just 500m swim though. I think I can dogpaddle my way through that if I need to.

Happy Birthday Erica! Princess Bride is on my list of movies to watch. Not sure of any winery tours out east though. But one nice ride is the Bike Boat Bike in June, run by the SBRA. The route I do is the 65 that starts in Mattituck, goes through Shelter Island and comes back on the south fork. Though last year I did the 100.

Hi all. And another happy birthday to Erica!

Reading about all these cool bike rides makes me want to pick one.

It was a great weekend here. High on Saturday was in the 70s. Sunday was overcast, but still in the 50s. Today we're getting much needed rain. It's a TM day for me. C25K Week 2 began today. You can tell the run is longer ; )

We took a long walk Saturday - eight miles, the pace was 20 mpm. It was cool to see SO MANY PEOPLE (and pets) out enjoying the spring teaser.

I need to eat something in the morning. I get to work, work out and then have breakfast. I want to continue waiting to having breakfast until after I get to my desk, but need to have something before I run/walk. Any suggestions? I've considered apple, banana, a half a PBJ.

Thanks,
Ronda

Ronda...a banana would be good. Or a small beverage (sports drink, or something with a little protein) maybe? And Clif makes baby Clif bars...they are 100 cal. I have seen the multipack boxes in the grocery stores now.
Sounds like you just need a little something to top off the tanks so you don't bonk in your early workouts. Also, that might help if you have issues with being ravenous by the time you eat breakfast and you are tempted to eat too much. (I'm real bad about that...need to do more healthful eating)

What's a TIM day?
For me, I would like that to be a day that Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights comes over. But I don't think that's it. :rotfl: (besides, I'm old enough to be his mother)

Personally I need to eat before I go out in the morning. Going out in the morning for me means getting on the bike and riding to work, so I need something or I won't make it! In cold weather, or maybe I should say half the year this consists of oatmeal. The rest of the year I put a banana in the blender with some milk and wheat germ and honey.

And OJ. I do not drink much coffee, but I drink a lot of OJ.

Ronda - Although I prefer my workouts in the evening right after work I do have the same issue, I have to eat something or I'll crash and burn. I have found toast with peanut butter supplemented by a nice cold diet coke works pretty well for me. I've also tried protein bars (the smaller snack size ones) but normally go back to the peanut butter toast.

Hello Triple D's!! It's Monday evening, we are 2 days into a brand new week, week #2 of our quest. Are we moving? Are we "grooving"? (I know nobody says that anymore but I was going for the rhyme.) I will tell you now that I am going to need some help this week as I will be in taper mode after Wednesday. As far as the gym issue with my key, it was basically what I figured it would be. I have my Mom on my account and she had her knee scoped a couple of weeks ago so she "froze" her account. Well, in doing so, it also froze my account. Even though for the last 2 weeks I have been able to get in with my key, they finally went in and deactivated it til the end of the month. All is well. I will still be able to workout. I am pretty good friends with the Manager of the gym so, if he can't get it resolved, he is going to get me another "temp" key so I can still get in.

Erica :cake: :bday: party: Happy Birthday!!! Would you believe that tomorrow is my DS's birthday. Anything is possible here on the WISH!! I have to give you that one. I know you couldn't remember the name but you remembered everything else about the movie. Also, one of the other start that was in the movie would be Jason Bateman. Remember him from the 80's?

Ronda I am a firm believer in having a bit of protein and carbs with every meal so what I try to do, if I can, would be to eat a small bowl of oatmeal and have a protein shake. Labrada Nutrition actually has a type of breakfast shake that is exactly that and I personally love them. My favorite is the blueberries and cream but they do have a couple of other flavors. If you would like to give that a try, check your local nutrition store or go to their website.

Augie I am with you but even a little more extreme. I can't stand coffee. (that's very hard to believe considering my Dad can take it thru an IV.) Sorry about stumping you on the movie. I am sure that you will get me back before it is all over with.:thumbsup2

Betsy What can I say but you are totally awesome!! You just had shoulder surgery a couple of months ago and you are already doing another tri in April? Wow!! That is inspirational!! I can't wait to read your race report on that one.

Missy Believe it or not, I have been to Stone Mountain. What a beautiful place to visit!! That was an incredible pic. Does Mike want a "handle" (nickname) or would he prefer to just go by Mike? That way we can add him to the front page and the spreadsheet that we are creating. Congratulations on being able to have the support and encouragement from the one you love the most.

Rich :woohoo: You win the prize! You are the one who got the name of the movie. (Quantum Leap is my all-time favorite TV show. I actually cried when it went off the air.:sad1: ) So I guess that means that you are up. You get to come up with the next quote, if you want.

Update It appears that I have created a monster and I have to go back to last year and blame Liz for that because hse created me. Let me explain briefly. I had never thought about doing any type of races but then Liz talked me into doing Disney. I did that and now I am hooked. I come back and talk to one of my customers and now she is going to do the Mercedes with me this Sunday. She actually came into the store today and just told me that she is walking everywhere all of the time. She is hooked and excited about Sunday's race. It is really a lot of fun being a trainer, encourager and apparently a little bit of a motivator. Walt always said "It all started with a Mouse!" Well, for me, it started here on WISH with the teams last year and a lot of pushing by some great friends!!

Thank you one and all!!:cheer2: :grouphug: :yay: :cheer2:

Hey, Bryan...did you get the spreadsheet I emailed you?

I can help keep it updated and send it to you from time to time.
We got totals from all but 3 this week! looking good!!

I'm just doing what I do, btw. nothing special. just a sprint tri.

MrsPotts...everything's good with a Diet Coke! :goodvibes

Had a great run this moring the temperature was 45 degrees. It great, the next three day are going to be warm much easier to get out there and run. Here goes my quote 'The greatest trick the devilever pulled waswas convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that .Poof, he's gone."

Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It was remarkably uneventful, which around here passes for a good day. Dinner, cake, presents, and my guys agreeing to watch Casablanca with me (which is near miraculous when one of them is 13), couldn't ask for much more. And Bryan, happy birthday to your son. Aquarians rock!

Bryan: Yes, we are moving and grooving! Thanks to some inspiration from this board, I think I may even dig out my bike and try to run errands with pedal power while its warmish for a few days. Oh, and speaking of inspriation, not to embarass you but I suspect you've inspired more folks than you realize, certainly more than the one lady doing the race this weekend.

Betsy: It may just be what you do, but it is still pretty damn impressive. Only 500m with a bad shoulder? :scared1: You rock.

Missy: I've been there, too! But it was a lot warmer when I visited!

Ronda: I'm the same way -- I don't like to eat before I work out, but I need something before i head out in the morning. I find half a banana or a slice of bread works well. Oh, and another non-coffee drinker here. But how i love my Diet Coke, the breakfast of champions!

Maybe we need a coast-to-coasdt Triple D winery tours ride sometime. Which brings me to the next quote: "Come out to the coast...we'll have a few laughs..."

Sorry if I missed anyone/anything. Trying to get out before it starts to drizzle here. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey everyone!! Sorry I've been away for the past few days. My friends and I took a quick long weekend trip to Miami to get away from this freezing weather!

For Feb 1-7...

running: 80 mins/11 miles
other work outs: 145 mins (yoga, etc)

I'll try to catch up on everyones posts in a little bit! :)

This is an easy one, the first Die Hard. I kind of like the whole run of these. I liked the third, with the NYC locales.

OK, not really a movie quote, but something I am pretty fond of....
"I was in my office on the drizzly afternoon, listening to the monotonous stacatto of rain on my desk, and reading my name in the glass of my office door..."

Have a good day, everyone!

Augie

What a beautiful day! It was in the 50s as I rode to work this morning. The full moon was on the way down and crystal clear.

I will be walking the dog tonight as DGF does C25K. We don' t run at the same time. I like mornings and she evenings. The runner runs and when it comes time for the walk turns around and walks back to the dog and the walker. This is only going to work for a few weeks, but everyone gets what they want/need. Especially the dog!

Have a great day Ds.

Ronda

here's one of my favorites...

"The ebb and flow of the Atlantic tides.
The drift of the continents.
The very position of the Sun along it's ecliptic.
These are just a few of the things I control in my world"

It was a much better day today!
My friend picked me up and took me grocery shopping.
After walking for about 1/2 hr I was exhausted,
but in only a little bit of pain.

Happy Birthday Erica!

thanks again for all the kindness and support :goodvibes

Liz...glad to hear it! Take your time...baby steps...all that jazz. :goodvibes

Jenn(NJ)...thanks for the update. Have added you in, so we now have 548.45 miles and 93.23 hours for the first week of February!

I went to the gym this morning and made up for a missed bike workout and a bit of a missed swim. Cut the swim short...sore from PT yesterday. I can only kick around and scull right now anyway.
Run workout with my group tonight!

Hey Liz! Good to hear you are up and about. You got the quote right, you are a Firesign fan as well as Phish? Cool!

Ronda, how far is your commute? Mine is 25 miles round trip. (can't wait for warmer weather)
