Triple D's February Challenge - The Wait is Finally Over!!

What a beautiful day in Kansas City. We got on the trolley trail and took a long walk. There were so many people out enjoying the trail and the weather.

Feb 1-7 465 minutes and 35 miles. It's a combination of biking, running and walking. Do I break it out by type?

Ronda

Hi All,

This week I had 8.25 miles in 134 minutes. After reading some of your totals, I feel like a slacker. But since I'm just starting out, I'm hoping to increase each week. I hope everyone has a great week next week!

Good morning all! Looks like we're off to a really good start -- wtg, DDDs!:cheer2:

First, and most importantly, I *totally* knew Augie's quote! Oh, well, serves me right for not logging on more. Busy day yesterday...including running outdoors! I love love love these warming trends.

Oh, and Bryan...all sports, but especially baseball. I guess I should say most sports . . . I have to admit I don't really enjoy watching that one with the brooms on ice.

Okay, so here are my stats for the week:

Minutes: 260
Miles: 19.3

Not as high as I'd have liked -- LTO and a bit of winter blahs mid-week. But today starts a new week and its in the 50s! woohoo.

Everyone have a great rest of your weekend.

What a great start team!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: By looking at the returns (Sounds political, doesn't it?) we are having a fantastic week for the Triple D's! To quote a song, "I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it!" (I guess that will show my age a little too, huh?:lmao: )

Erica Now, I am worried. I have met one of the ultimate movie buffs and I am wondering if I should tuck my tail in and run the other way?!?:scared: Seriously though, I guess I will have to research and come up with some obscure quote that no one has ever heard of and with my luck, you will still know it. No worries! We are going to have fun! Great job on the miles and time.

Rich You Da Man!!!!:thumbsup2 :cheer2: 150+ miles the first week is incredible. I can't imagine what you are going to do for an encore. Bravo! Bravo!

Lisa I am going to take you up on help with the spreadsheet. I have something basic started but it isn't exactly what I want. I will send you a PM later today to see what we can do to make it better. I do appreciate all of the help I can get. (Lord knows I need it.)

Augie That was a good quote. I actually had to do a little research on that one as I had seen the movie only one time. To quote one of Liz's favorites, "Good call, my young Padawan!" I can tell al ready that we are going to have a great year!

Team Remember, that we all have different fitness levels and goals so our numbers will vary greatly because of that. No one needs to feel like a "slacker" just because their numbers don't measure up to someone elses. This is a team competition. We win or lose as a team. I know last year I was the worst one about wanting to be the top individual performer of all of the teams. Well, I didn't make it. I was ......... 2nd. (Like I said Rich, You Da Man!) That's why this year I have changed my approach. I am still going to put in as many miles as I can in both running and riding. That's the way I am. But I am not going to sweat being first or second. What I want is for the team to have a great year and for WISH to have a great year. That's my goals anyway!

As for me I belong to a 24 hour gym to which I have a key to be able to get into. Well, I went over there last night after I got off of my volunteer watch (I am a volunteer COP) and tried to get in but wasn't allowed access. I tried for about 5-6 minutes and it just wasn't allowing me in. I am going to go by again this afternoon and if it still doesn't allow me to get in, I will call the manager of the gym. I know where he lives and it isn't that far from the gym itself. So since I was unable to get over there last night, here are my totals.

Miles: 107
Hours: 12.5

It's a good week to start. I have to admit I was hoping for more since I will be in taper mode towards the end of next week for another Half on Sunday. I will make sure to post a race report about that one too.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!!!
Bryan

Can we say "The Big Lebowski"? ;)

You got it! Great movie, and has developed a cult following. Do you know there are yearly Lebowski Fests across the country? I was going to go to the one in NY this year, but it was a matter of too many things to do on the same night.

How about this one (which would interest our resident SW freak:)) "Which do you like better? Jedi or the Empire Strikes back?"

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I am taking a break from some painting. Which I have to get back too.....

I vote Phantom Menace! :darth: :yoda:

So, I'm moving around a bit more.
I have a dr. appt tomorrow to take
some staples/stitches out and find out
what my limitations still are.

I'll do a profile on myself soon,
and I still have to get to know my
new team mates! I'm very excited
for a new year, new challenge.

Stay motivated team :goodvibes

~Liz

btw - no miles/hours this week, but there's a looooong way to go :)

Liz....glad you are feeling better!

Here are my totals for Feb 1-7:
Swim: 0.3 miles/:20
Bike: 33.8 miles/2:20
Run: 7.0 miles/1:25
PT: 0:40

Total: 41.1 miles/4:45 hours

Do my 2600 airline miles count? haha!!

Rode and walked some more today...hoping to get some good training in before I head to WDW later this week! yay!! it's for a conference, but I'll have some fun, tool.

Hey, Bryan, don't forget to post the miles on the front page under the intro post!
Can I be doing something to help tally them?

Augie: Clerks. A great movie to pair with Office Space for a double feature when work is getting to you. And, like Dante, I'd vote for Empire.

Liz: Sounds like you are feeling a little better, but don't push yourself and just take it easy. There'll be plenty of time to test your limits later. Glad you are doing okay.

Bryan: You, worried that you've met your match and will be bested by my movie knowledge prowess? Inconceivable! You will not sweat beign first or second? inconceivable! We will win or lose as a team? inconceivable!

hmmm...."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." From my all time hands down number 1 go to movie of all time. There's never a wrong time or mood for it.

But, i agree. Great sentiment -- sometimes we get caught up in the competiton aspect, but the really important thing is the team aspect. And in that respect, I can say we are clearly the front-runners. And not just in my subjective view...last time i looked, we were out-talkig everyone, even the cousins at Ohana (and they can talk!)

Off for a run with my dog. Which usually equates to a longer time and a shorter distance . . . I need a running partner who doesn't stop to sniff constantly.

Hi everyone, great totals!

I'm finally home from KC and having a family fix or overdose! :crowded: I enjoyed seeing everyone including DS1 who I haven't seen for about a month. I miss him but sometimes I'm glad he's at school! Two more weeks and his college baseball season starts!! :cool1: I absolutely cannot wait it's been forever since fall ball ended.

Oh and we like ALL the SW movies here. It's hard to pick a favorite.

Bryan, I'm glad to help. Just let me know what your vision is for that spreadsheet and I'll do it!

Have a great evening!

Erica you Quoting Princess Bride great movie. As for Star wars nothing beat original New Hope. Otherwise empire not abig fan of Ewoks.

Bryan Do you want our Hours or minutes.

Hi DDD's

My numbers for Feb 1-7 are:

hours: 3:01
miles: 14.76

I'm just back into base building now, and will keep on adding miles up to my next half marathon at the end of May.

Hi Team

Here are my totals for the week.
4 miles
3 hours

It's been a slow start for me--nursing a sore knee.:sad2:

That would be "The Princess Bride". I hate to say it but i love that movie!!! Everytime I see it on cable, I have to watch it. Great quote!!

How about this one? "We are going to be the laughing stock of college football. What do you think we are now?"

Team I am soooooo impressed by the output of love, support and miles that we have been able to put out in only the first week. You guys are totally awesome!! Now Missy, I think I read something about your husband joining the fray as well. I know he isn't on the boards but will we get to be introduced to him or will he be on another team? Rich Hours are preferred but I will take it either way and do the necessary math. Whatever is best for you works for me. Augie Great question about Star Wars but I guess I have to be politically correct on this one. I really like them all. I have the whole set, except my Episode 3 has messed up and I haven't replaced it yet. But I also remember when The New Hope came out. Darth Vader scared the crap out of me at the theater so I wouldn't go see Empire until after I saw Return of the Jedi. Remember, I was young. Lisa and Beth Thank you for the miles and hours. That is an awesome beginning. Beth, take care of that knee. Be careful with that as I know what can happen if you don't.

Thanks everyone for all of your effort, support and incredible encouragement!

Bryan:grouphug: :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo:

Bryan!! I just made my first spreadsheet!! So I can help keep up with the hours and stuff!!

p.s. on the front page you have our hours listed for January. :goodvibes

Team!!Great job!!!

I'm all psyched.

Ooops!

Hello 3D's, what a nice day here today! Back home and back to my normal commute again.

Erica, yes, it was Clerks. Good movie, but maybe not many quotes that would be deemed acceptable for a family-type board? And believe it or not, I have never seen Office Space or Princess Bride. But it is on my list.

Lisa, I looked at the link to the RAGBRAI and it looks like a very interesting and fun ride to do. Not sure if icould swing it this year. I have sogned up for a Brewery to Brewery ride sposored by Harpoon wich goes from their brewery in boston to their brewery in VT, which is a 149 mile one day ride. With free beer at the end, of course. That is in June.

Bryan, thanks for putting up the mileage. A good start! And sorry, no clue on the football quote.

Have a good day, everyone!

How about this one? "We are going to be the laughing stock of college football. What do you think we are now?"

Okay, I know the movie, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name (and I refuse to be a cheater pants and check google or imdb). Ayway, its that one about a texas colege that is on probation and has to put together a team without any special scholarship players or anything. The team is the fighting armadillos, I remember that much, and they had a female place kicker. And Robert Loggia was in it, because a couple of years ago my kids asked who Robert Loggia was due to a Family Guy reference (yes, I'm one of *those* moms), and then this movie was on cable not long after so I was able to show them Robert Loggia...

Augie: Your first assignment for the next winter storm (which i am desperately hoping will not be till next winter) or other free moment is to find The Princess Bride (its on cable constantly) and watch it. If you can dvr or tivo it and watch it repeatedly, even better. Your life will be greatly enhanced. Your second assignment is to keep your eyes peeled for a North Fork winery-to-winery tour. While the brewery to brewery thing sounds fun, I don't know that I want to ride that far for free alcohol. However, given that all the wineries are pretty clustered together, that would be a pretty good return in terms of drinks-per-mile-of-effort.

Got a nice 4 mile walk/run in yesterday. Hoping to sneak opast the dog today and maybe get a little farther. Gonna have to do extra to work off the birthday cake in advance. oh, yeah, that's right . . . shameless self-promotion time: Happy Birthday to ME!!!! My goal is to end this year fitter and healthier than I've been in a while.

Now Missy, I think I read something about your husband joining the fray as well. I know he isn't on the boards but will we get to be introduced to him or will he be on another team?

Yes, my DH, Mike, will be joining us as well! Of course he's going to be on our team!:thumbsup2 He and I are always telling each other that we're "a team" , so we couldn't possibly compete against each other!! Like me, he's just starting out, so this is something that we are doing together. (Just like everything else in our lives.)
As far as getting introduced to him, well, basically everything is the same for him as it is for me! And since most of y'all already know each other and know what one another looks like, here's a pic of the DH and I:
