Trip Report - March/April 2025

Nice morning in Epcot - you got a lot of cool pictures! You combined rides with just wandering and enjoying the park. Your lunch looks good and the cake even better! I've read mixed reviews about the cake shop but I want to give it a try.
We (probably me more than Scott) really love all the photopass pictures. It’s so nice to both be in the pictures. We enjoy being at Disney and soaking in the magic along with the rides, but are trying not to just go from one attraction to another. Definitely give Cake Bake Shop a try, we kept trying different things throughout the trip (including dinner) and found some things that were very good.

I'm enjoying your report! I live in AL, but in the north just outside of Huntsville. Your story about the man approaching you made me laugh. That is very typical around AL! I once had a stranger pull into my driveway because he was passing by, remembered the family who used to live here over 20 years ago, and wondered if I knew them and how they were doing :rotfl2: . I told him no, as I didn't know him at all ... But the family he was talking about was actually my husband's family because his parents built the house we currently live in, lol.
OMG - that would totally freak me out if someone wanted to come visit my home because they used to know someone that lived there. I’ve mentioned before that I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and spent my whole career working in NYC so moving to the suburbs was definitely a shock to me. When we bought our first house, I remember a neighbor coming by to say hi and gave us a homemade cake; my first thought is that it’s poison and couldn’t figure out why she’s giving us a cake.

I guess if we end up in Alabama we’ll have to get used to people being more friendly than I’m used to.

Monday 3/24/25
We went to the gym about 6:30. Back in the villa, we did our normal routine of laundry, jacuzzi, and showers then had breakfast before heading out.

We drove to Hollywood Studios.

We love when the photographers want you to pose or do something different since it usually makes for a great magic shot. Of course we found this so amusing that they posed us, told us to look serious/angry and the picture is missing something; I’m not sure what we’re supposed to be so serious about. I think it was some sort of Star Wars type thing that was supposed to appear.
IMG_7637.jpeg

We continued stopping for the various photographers as we started walking into the park.
IMG_7629.jpeg
IMG_7622.jpeg

Our first attraction was Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Train. This is a cute attraction and I think it’s a missed ride photo opportunity since there are so many spots they could put cameras.
IMG_7636.jpeg

Knowing Muppets will be closing soon, we wanted to see that. This was a first, there was a photographer taking pictures outside Muppets. There was a small line for these pictures too.
IMG_7613.jpeg
IMG_7621.jpeg

IMG_7608.jpeg

We made our way into Toy Story Land
IMG_7604.jpeg
IMG_7596.jpeg

It was time for us to ride Slinky Dog Dash.
IMG_7605.jpeg

Monday 3/24/25 Continued
We headed into Star Wars Land
IMG_7591.jpeg

It was time to ride Rise of the Resistance. We are liking this better now, the first few times we rode it we were a bit disappointed (probably because of all the hype when it first opened).
IMG_7335.jpeg

There is a single rider option on Rise but it works since everyone gets their own seat.

We headed back to Toy Story Land as it was time to ride Toy Story Mania. We were trying to remember some of the tips we read last trip about working together but of course didn’t remember many of them. There were some technical difficulties so we were standing in the LL line for a bit longer than expected.

Since we always find ways to amuse ourselves we started talking about eye color. I have green eyes and Scott has blue eyes. Sometimes my eyes look a slightly different color depending what I’m wearing. My mother told me that when I was a baby she didn’t know if my eyes were blue, green, or purple. Scott was convinced that today my eyes were blue instead their usual green so we were taking close up pictures of our eye balls to look at the difference.

My obviously green (not blue) eyes
IMG_7339.jpeg

Compared to Scott’s blue eye
IMG_7341.jpeg

Soon we rode Toy Story Mania having fun trying to remember the clues. They should put a ride photo here too kind of like they have on Buzz Lightyear.

Next we were on our way to my favorite attraction at Hollywood Studios, stopping for some pictures on the way.
IMG_7573.jpeg
IMG_7568.jpeg

Tower of Terror continues to be my favorite attraction at Hollywood Studios. I’m especially excited when we get the first row.

IMG_7566.jpeg

Scott was in the mood for a soft pretzel and a Coke. Pretzels are always better shaped like Mickey Mouse
IMG_7354.jpeg

We browsed through some more shops, bought a few more items then headed out of the park

Monday 3/24/25 Continued
We made a quick stop at Publix then went back to Vistana Villages to drop off our groceries and the stuff we bought in the park. I noticed the lights off in the gym (they go on automatically when someone enters) so was happy it was finally empty and I could take a few pictures of the gym.

We purposely request the St Augustine section since it has the largest fitness center of the different sections of the resort and it’s open 24 hours. There is a nice amount and variety of equipment.
IMG_7355.jpeg
IMG_7357.jpeg
IMG_7361.jpeg
IMG_7366.jpeg

We headed out to the Boardwalk a little later for our dinner reservation at Cake Bake Shop. Of course we went a little early to walk around the Boardwalk and to have pre-dinner cocktails at Abracadabar.

Scott had his usual Martini and I had my favorite Hoodunit’s Punch.
IMG_7369.jpeg

Monday 3/24/25 Continued
We headed over to the Cake Bake Shop just before our reservation time. We didn’t realize they had a bar there or we probably would have just gone there first. We asked if we could sit at the bar rather than a table and they were happy for us to do so.

The restaurant is very pretty, it reminds me of somewhere you would have a bridal shower. Of course I wandered around a bit taking a few pictures. The music they play in the restaurant reminds us of the music at Remy’s ride in Epcot.
IMG_7394.jpeg
IMG_7439.jpeg
IMG_7393.jpeg

IMG_7374.jpeg

Scott had a Martini (no surprise there) and I had a Black Swan. The bartender said they were missing the cream for the Black Swan drink but he could still make it sweet for me. It was OK, not my favorite drink.
IMG_7390.jpeg

One thing we like about sitting at the bar to eat is you often strike up conversations with not just the bartenders but with other customers at the bar. We met a nice couple from Georgia that we spent some time chatting with.

We started with the crab cake appetizer which was good without too much filler.
IMG_7399.jpeg

I ordered the burger with fries, no sauce on it. This was really a good burger, better than I expected.
IMG_7408.jpeg

Scott ordered the gumbo and added shrimp. He really enjoyed this too.
IMG_7410.jpeg

While we were chatting with the bartender, we were talking about different types of garnish and things that are added to drinks. She mentioned adding pickled spicy asparagus to a Martini. She gave Scott a piece to try and he loved it, plopping it right into his drink.
IMG_7413.jpeg

The food was all very good. We couldn’t finish so had leftovers. Of course we had to save room for dessert. We had the Key Lime Pie which was very good, light and fluffy.
IMG_7434.jpeg

We’re glad we tried dinner at Cake Bake, it was really very good.

We headed back to the resort after dinner and watched some more of the Kraven movie that we started earlier in the trip.

Sounds like a fun day! LOL at you guys taking pics of your eyeballs! :goodvibes

Tuesday 3/25/25
Scott went to the gym at 6; I didn’t go until maybe 6:30.

I picked up Starbucks for us from the Marketplace on the way back to the room. There was a man by the elevator who asked me where Starbucks was when he saw me with the beverages, he thought he had to leave the resort and was very happy when I told him he can get his Starbucks right at the Marketplace.

As I got back to the room, the man from the room next door to us was banging on his door since his key wasn’t working. I asked if he wanted me to try calling his room, which I did and woke his wife up so she could let him in.

Our normal morning routine of laundry, jacuzzi, showers and breakfast followed.

We drove to Animal Kingdom.
IMG_7718.jpeg

They always have some cute pictures by the tree
IMG_7716.jpeg
IMG_7705.jpeg

This is one of those zoom shots, but we’re in the middle of the picture
IMG_7699.jpeg

Our first attraction was the safari. It’s nice that this is a slightly different experience each time, you never know what the animals are going to do

How cute is that baby elephant that’s not so much a baby anymore
IMG_7470.jpeg

It’s always a treat when the lion makes an appearance. And he’s just licking his paw like our little kitties do at home.
IMG_7489.jpeg

We stopped for a photographer who had this adorable magic shot of us walking with animals.
IMG_7687.jpeg

IMG_7691.jpeg

We stopped and watched the Bird show

During our stroll around we stopped for other pictures
IMG_7680.jpeg

Tuesday 3/25/25 Continued
We walked through the Maharaja jungle trek hoping to see the baby tiger, Basko, but unfortunately, he wasn’t out.
IMG_7679.jpeg
IMG_7675.jpeg
IMG_7661.jpeg

It was time for Scott to Ride Avatar. I rode this once and got very dizzy so I skip it now and just find a place to sit and wait for Scott while he rides. This is probably another missed opportunity for a ride photo. He really enjoys this ride.

It was time for us to ride Dinosaur. This is one of my favorites at Animal Kingdom and I’m disappointed to see that it’s not going to be here much longer. I know the overlay will probably be the same ride track so we’ll see how we feel about the new ride once it is ready.
IMG_7660.jpeg

We headed out of the park and drove to Disney Springs. We normally park in the Lime garage since that’s near the stores/restaurants we usually go to, but this time we parked in the Orange garage and walked across to the other side browsing through shops here and there.

We bought a few ornaments in the Christmas Store.

We bought some shirts and other things in World of Disney. We often will buy things if we see things we like in the park or at resorts as well at at Disney Springs. Then we’ll try stuff on back in the villa and keep everything that needs to get returned together to try to do that all at once later in the trip.

We stopped in the picture center, maybe it’s part of Guest Relations, but they had photographers there and a minimal line so we took some cute pictures.

Tuesday 3/25/25 Continued
We made our way over to the Boathouse where we had early dinner reservations. There were seats available at the bar so we asked the hostess if we could sit there instead of a regular table and they were happy to oblige.

Scott had a Martini and I had Duck Duck Razz. I usually get this drink at the Boathouse, it’s adorable, but stronger than it looks and the little duck is so cute.
IMG_7529.jpeg

We started with 6 Sea of Cortez Shrimp. This is the best shrimp cocktail we’ve had at Disney, it’s always super fresh.
IMG_7521.jpeg

We were brought the tasty rolls with butter. These are so soft and pillowy, our second favorite bread at Disney. Our favorite are those onion pull apart rolls at Yachtsman’s Steakhouse.
IMG_7524.jpeg

I ordered what I almost always get at the Boathouse, the filet sliders and a side of fries. This is a great meal. I always give Scott one of the sliders.
IMG_7534.jpeg
IMG_7535.jpeg
IMG_7538.jpeg

Scott had a Lobster Roll which he thought was fantastic. It wasn’t the normal cold mayonnaise based one; instead it was the warm butter poached one.
IMG_7543.jpeg

We really enjoy the Boathouse.

Tuesday 3/25/25 Continued
After our meal at the Boathouse, we strolled back across to the other side of Disney Springs. We intentionally parked in the Orange Garage knowing we wanted to stop at Everglazed on the way out and pick up donuts. While we will share, we each picked two different donuts. I like how they box each one individually so they don’t touch each other in transit. We brought them all back to the villa.

Scott chose Nutella Boston Cream which we shared back in the villa. This was very good.
IMG_7551.jpeg
IMG_7554.jpeg

He also chose Cookies and Cream which went into the fridge to eat another day.
IMG_7544.jpeg

I chose the Strawberry iced with sprinkles which we split and tried tonight. I liked it but I like the plainer type of donuts, Scott wasn’t as thrilled with this one as I was. We each took a few bites but didn’t finish our halves as we were full from our meal and the other donut half.
IMG_7549.jpeg
IMG_7555.jpeg

I also chose the Apple Streusel which went into the fridge to eat another day
IMG_7546.jpeg

We finished watching the Kraven movie.

We went to the gym about 5:30. Back in the villa, we did our normal routine of laundry, jacuzzi, showers, and breakfast before heading out.

We went to Magic Kingdom.
IMG_8255.jpeg

Our first attraction was Seven Dwarves Mine Train. We like this more and more each time we ride it.
IMG_8253.jpeg
IMG_8252.jpeg

Scott was planning to pick up one of his favorite Mickey Shaped Chocolate Chip cookies with dipped ears but when we went into Big Top Treats and were browsing the case, we saw this cute looking Pineapple Butter cookie so went with that instead. Scott wrapped it up for us to try later.
IMG_7747.jpeg

We never paid much attention to this before but I read about Smellephants on Parade so had to explain to Scott why I was standing near certain statues and smelling the air. Some were more obvious than others.
IMG_7744.jpeg
IMG_7743.jpeg

We enjoy wandering around the park so while sometimes it’s annoying to have to criss cross the park to ride attractions based on the LL times you have, we try to just think of it as part of the fun since we often wander anyway.

We stopped to watch the Tiki Birds since it was just about to start. We walked through the Treehouse since we were right there.

Pirates of the Caribbean was next. We enjoy this ride. I like that there is a ride photo. This is another ride that I noticed lately you get a little wetter than you used to. Not always and not everyone, but sometimes you get a big splash rather than a little sprinkle.
IMG_8251.jpeg

Scott likes trains so we took the train and rode it around the park.
IMG_7739.jpeg

When we got off the train I made a quick trip to the bathroom and saw a cute photo set up so posed with Tiana. Since I don’t like getting wet in my clothes, I don’t have any plans to ride Tiana’s ride.

It was time for us to ride Buzz Lightyear. I know it’s been around for ages and is probably due for a refresh, but it’s still fun. I never do well at this one; but it cracks me up how Scott always looks like he’s concentrating in the picture.
IMG_8245.jpeg

We rode the People Mover, then rode Carousel of Progress. We always move to the end of the row on Carousel of Progress so we can sing along to the chorus without bothering anyone.

We made our way up Main Street browsing in some shops and also stopping for a cute picture.
IMG_8214.jpeg

We headed out of the park and took the boat to the Grand Floridian.
IMG_7753.jpeg

When I saw a photographer outside we stopped.
IMG_8208.jpeg

We made our way into the lobby to look at the various Easter Egg Decorations. I’m not creative so am always impressed with these types of things. I took a few pictures, many people were doing the same.

We saw the photographer upstairs and posed for pictures. I love this picture, it’s something different and adorable.
IMG_8198.jpeg

We went to Enchanted Rose Lounge for pre-dinner cocktails. I liked how they seated you rather than first come first served. Scott had a Martini and I had an Espresso Martini. This was a great espresso martini.
IMG_7769.jpeg

We had dinner reservations at Citricos. We checked in on the app while at Enchanted Rose and we received our text that our table was ready on time.

IMG_7772.jpeg
IMG_7784.jpeg

The bread with guava butter is good.
IMG_7793.jpeg

We shared the shrimp with octopus appetizer and both enjoyed it.
IMG_7789.jpeg

I ordered the Cobia which was delicious.
IMG_7799.jpeg

Scott ordered the domestic fish which was tile fish. He said it was good but not great.
IMG_7794.jpeg

We also ordered the cauliflower enhancement but it was too spicy for me. I’m a wimp when it comes to spices. Scott enjoyed it.
IMG_7797.jpeg

We skipped dessert at Citricos having something else in mind.

Wednesday 3/26/25 Continued
We took the monorail to the Polynesian planning to have bread pudding at Tambu Lounge for dessert. Unfortunately, there were no available seats at Tambu Lounge. We gave up after a little bit and got back on the monorail to Magic Kingdom. Once on the monorail, I remembered that we should have tried Kona Cafe for the bread pudding, but we’ll have to try another night.

We got to Magic Kingdom in time to watch the fireworks.
IMG_7833.jpeg
IMG_7835.jpeg
IMG_7836.jpeg

After the fireworks we walked around the park just enjoying being there. I know we did a few attractions but don’t remember which ones.

Of course we took pictures on Main Street.
IMG_8174.jpeg

IMG_8175.jpeg

IMG_8185.jpeg

IMG_8192.jpeg

Before leaving Magic Kingdom we stopped in the Confectionary. Scott wanted a cupcake but wasn’t thrilled with the options they had so chose a Blondie Pie instead. We wrapped it up to bring back to the resort.

We left the park and drove back to Vistana Villages. Back in the villa we tried the Blondie Pie. This was pretty good, not amazing, but pretty good.
IMG_7842.jpeg
IMG_7846.jpeg

We also tried the Pineapple Butter cookie that we bought earlier. The first bite was OK, but then it became overwhelmingly sweet so we ended up tossing it.

We watched Hudson & Rex (another cute series we found) winding down for the night.

Thursday 3/27/25
We went to the gym about 6. We did our normal morning routine of laundry, jacuzzi, showers, and breakfast.

We shared the Apple streusel donut from Everglazed this morning. This was very good.
IMG_7847.jpeg
IMG_7850.jpeg
Today we were going to meet the realtor on the West Coast of Florida. This is the same realtor we met with last time we looked on the West Coast side. We visited different communities and saw a few more model homes. We found one model we really loved, but we are still torn about what state we want to live in.

We were gone basically all day driving across, spending time with the realtor driving to different areas with him, then driving back across.

Once back at Vistana Villages, we showered and changed to head out for dinner. We weren’t sure where but we were hungry. Our first thought was Disney Springs but the garage was a madhouse so we left.

We were able to book Kona Cafe for a little later so we headed to the Polynesian.
IMG_8132.jpeg

We walked to the new tower hoping to have pre-dinner cocktails there, but the bar was packed.

We stopped at Trader Sam’s Terrace but that was also full.

We browsed the shops and bought a few more shirts.

We were able to get seats at the bar at Tambu Lounge so were happy to settle in and continue chatting about the homes and areas we saw.
IMG_8135.jpeg
Scott had a Martini and I had a Bahama Mama
IMG_8138.jpeg

Thursday 3/27/25 Continued
We received a text that our table at Kona Cafe was ready just a few minutes before our reservation time so we headed over there.
IMG_8139.jpeg

They brought us bread with butter. These were kind of boring little rolls. I remember years ago they used to have better bread here. Maybe that’s a good thing since we didn’t fill up on the bread.
IMG_8150.jpeg

I’ve mentioned that we are very easy going and have fun whatever we are doing. The waiter accidentally knocked Scott’s Martini into his lap. The poor waiter was so upset. We were cracking up about it.
IMG_8153.jpeg
IMG_8155.jpeg

For appetizers we wanted sushi.

Scott wanted the Polly Lolly roll. He loves soft shell crab so was happy to see this.
IMG_8157.jpeg

I don’t like soft shell crab so ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll. Our sushi was very good, nice and fresh.
IMG_8160.jpeg

For an entree Scott went with the Kahuna Burger. There are lots of things on this burger and he thought it was great.
IMG_8165.jpeg

I was in the mood for chicken so went with the Asian Marinated Chicken. Sounds kind of boring but it was very good, better than I expected. Of course Scott had to take it off the bone for me.
IMG_8167.jpeg

We were full after dinner and had some leftovers to wrap up. But we couldn’t pass up dessert so got that to go…Bread Pudding. We went back to the resort and had our dessert. I like how they packed it up with each component separate. Here is the packed separately picture and then the picture when we put it together. This is so delicious, we really enjoyed the bread pudding.
IMG_8170.jpeg
IMG_8172.jpeg

It will be interesting to see where you decide to retire! Until then, you'll have fun looking. The martini - oh no! I'm sure the waiter appreciated you having fun with it. That bread pudding looks so good. Is it the same as Ohana?
