Just got back yesterday from our trip down to the fort. We stayed in site 125 and it was very nice. We seemed to be in the loop of long-term campers. Many had set up for at least a few weeks to months. I was totally green with envy. We left from Omaha on Friday morning around 4:45AM and drove as far as Manchester, TN. Then, we did the rest of the trip on Saturday and arrived around 6:30PM. We were thrilled that the site was very easy to back into with only one attempt!
Set up quickly as it was a beautiful night and the kids were going nuts from being in the RV all day. They redid the playground by the marina and the kids had a ball on it. Lots of slides, rock climbing stuff etc. In fact, my 4 year old probably would have been happy doing that all day instead of going to the theme parks. Sunday was my son's 7th birthday so we went to Magic Kingdom and did pretty much whatever he wanted to do.
Our weather was up and down all week. Sunday and Monday were nice, Tuesday and Wednesday were cold and sort of rainy. Thursday was frigid!!! and Friday and Saturday got bettet and better. In fact, Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. Kids still swam no matter the weather and my protests that if the lifeguards had to wear winter hats and gloves, that perhaps it was too cold to swim!!!
My husband drove us down and was scheduled to leave on Sunday night. But, mother nature had different ideas and his plane got canceled for 2 days. So, he was with us a little longer
Thought that FW was beautiful as ever. Things immaculate etc. Found the staff to be especially friendly this time for whatever reason. Maybe because it wasn't so crowded as the times I usually go down.
Magic Kingdom was nice as usual. There seemed to be much more on Main Street than usual with the trolley going down all the time, singing quartets and such. Before the parade, there were games played in the streets, beach balls thrown around by cast members and stuff. Very fun, old-fashioned stuff.
Epcot's new Nemo ride was very cute. Kids loved it. Lines were really short all day, every day.
MGM needs some different attractions. Not much to do for a 7 year old boy there. Sad to see that the Millionaire game is gone and now they have a Narnia attraction (sorry, but not into Narnia). So, very disappointed at MGM. After Tower of Terror and Rock n Rollercoaster, not much else there. (just my opinion though). One cast member did tell us that they are doing a new ride, like Buzz Lightyear with a Toy Story theme and in 3D. So that will be cool. (probably a few years out but still cool). Spectromagic was awesome as usual.
The trip was just wonderful as usual. Rented a golf cart for the week which is always good. Seemed that we were constantly going to the Outpost depot, so it was nice to have the cart.
My only complaint about the whole thing was that I had 2 reservations; one for one day and another for 7 days (they were initially full for that 8th day). We had to check in, then re-check in the next day. They couldn't merge the reservation once it was sent to FW from central reservations. Sometimes computer issues taking priority over common sense is just stupid. Wasn't a huge deal, but it did mean going back to the lobby (opposite side of the campgrounds, and our golf cart wasn't ready yet), stand in a LONG line and check in all over again. Oh, and I left my camera by the pool and it got taken.
(and lost and found is closed on Fridays and Saturdays for some reason).
But, not focusing on negatives. It was all good and we had a great time.
