We were so impressed with SSR. After reading these boards, I was getting nervous. But I was correct in my thinking that some people are very, very picky.

We checked in on 12/25 around 5pm. There was no one else in the lobby and we got room 1143, first floor, facing DD right across from Fulton's Crab House. The view was wonderful. The patio was great, larger than I expected.

We got more "Welcome Homes" than I could have imagined and the CMs were all great. Right after we checked in we had a PS at Whispering Canyon and we got lost on the way over. We called the SSR desk and they stayed on the phone with us until we found our way. Now that's service!!

The room was great, just perfect for the two of us. I don't think that we'll be staying in anything but a studio anytime soon. And the trash and towel service every 4 days was not an issue either. We reuse our towels 1 time at home and did the same here. I wouldn't hesitate to "buy" more if the weather was warmer and I felt I needed more towels.

We loved Artist Pallet (S)? It's just the right size. We had breakfast there twice and each time there were 2 or 3 tables occupied. That's with 4 buildings open. There is plenty of room since everyone seems to go elsewhere to eat, most of the time.

The main pool is nice but we really liked the quiet pool near our room. The laundry with a TV and art on the walls was a treat.

I've said this before...We can't afford to go to a 5 star hotel for great service. Disney is the closest and most affordable for us. The service is always great, it's so clean and truly a happy place to be.

By the way, we did find a cheerio, one, lone cheerio, on the floor of our studio. When I did, I laughed, because it would have been the first line of some of the reports I've seen here.

We are booked at Boardwalk in May but I'm thinking that I'll really look forward to going back to SSR!

Denise, thanks for the great report! We stayed at OKW in October and took the boat over to SSR. We thought it was beautiful and enjoyed the main pool very much. As a BCV owner I know what you mean about getting worried about all of the bad posts. We had a great first stay there last March. I'm not disounting peoples bad experiences, I just think we all need to try things for ourselves. We recently bought another contract at VWL and will book there for next Christmas, did you enjoy the holiday activities? Thanks again for the report....Lacee

Hi,

Thanks for the great report!!!! Glad you had fun!

Allison

The Christmas activities were great! That's one thing that we noticed...Coming from New Jersey and having to be so politically correct...You can't even say Merry Christmas up here!!!! But in DW they even talk about God in the parks...In the form of song, etc.!! It was a pleasant change.

We say the Christmas parade (the same one that they have for MVMCP), and the Candlelight Processional. We loved it! DH & I are musicians (of sorts) and the orchestra was just fantastic. Disney arrangements are never "vanilla", chord changes are fantastic and different.

We also saw the Osborne Lights and it snowed several times while we were in the parks. But the night that we saw the "Lights" and the snow, it didn't seem all that odd because we had on several jackets, gloves, scarves and even earmuffs!!! It was about 40 degrees all day and we froze.

We saw the New Years Eve fireworks from Pleasure Island from our patio at SSR...no crowds and a great display.

Denise

Thanks for the report Denise!! We had a great Christmas Week stay at SSR too! Finally! Someone that saw the fireworks from PI! LOL We thought they were AWESOME!. Did you take any pics of the Fireworks? We watched them from our studio patio @ SSR also.

Liferbabe,

No, we were just so excited that we forgot!! What room were you in? We were in 1143, the building farthest from the main pool. It was so nice out there, wasn't it?

That's exactly what happened to us!! We were so Awe struck, we didnt take one photo! LOL We were in 2543 so we were closest to the main pool. We were directly across from CDS and Disney Quest on the first floor facing DTD. It was Great! Loved Loved SSR!

I enjoyed reading your wonderful report. We loved SSR as well, and will be happy to stay there again. Our studio didn't fact DTD, but it was just a stones throw away from our car. My sister asked " How did you rate a room so close to parking?"

I'm glad you had a Merry Christmastime in WDW. We were there before you, we were home for Christmas, but we agree that going to WDW does let us celebrate Christmas well!

Bobbi :D

We too loved SSR! We were in the same building but the fourth floor. We loved the view and just enjoyed the entire resort. We had planned on visiting a different DVC resort this July, but we decided that SSR was home and we reserved it again!

Deemarch,

We're booked in a Standard view room at BWV for May, and I had exactly the same thought. If it had been ANY other room class / resort, the reservation would already be changed over to SSR.

It really felt like "home" and I'll probably have to book a spa treatment for DW just to give us an excuse to run over there for a few hours.

Thanks for the positive report!

yeah! happy times...happy posts....sounds like a little slice of heaven you will never forget :D Fantastic!!!

(goodness I cannot WAIT to go home!!!!)

I suspect that the one cheerio you found on the floor was really an egg laid by the lone goldfish cracker that we found under a bed in BCV.

We were at SSR the week before Christmas. We loved it too! We had a 1 bedroom which was perfect for our family of three. We own at OKW as well. We thought SSR had a lot of OKW's charm. Not a hotel feel but a true home away from home!

We had a 1 bedroom lock off and I would not hesitate to have a lock off at SSR because of the room arrangement. We will be back in May too! Studio SV @ BWV followed by GV @ OKW and finishing up with studio @ BCV. We want to see how we might like a studio and see if we like the closer proximity to Epcot.

wow I am so glad you had a great time. We too just went (over thanksgiving) and I have 38 days to go before I go home again. My son who is speech delayed is now looking at my SSR pics and saying "Mommy Dinees (Disney) home" or "our house" when he sees the pictures. It is too funny because I only speak about our "home" on these boards. I always refer to Dvc as we are using points to go back. I am still in explination mode with family. SO it is really funny that Ds calls SSR our home in Disney. LOL

Anyway I am dying to go back. I really love SSR and am glad to see so many positive posts come back.

I am so glad to hear that you had a great time. We leave on Friday. We are mixing up our stay this time because we don't have enough points to stay the whole week at SSR. We used points to give our DS and DDIL and DGD a welcome home trip since my son just got back from Iraq at Thanksgiving. We will be at SSR for three days with them and then off property for the rest of the week. Can't wait. Hope the weather is warm because it is cold and rainy here in Illinois.

:grouphug: :space: Beam me to SSR

Ahhhhh - a thread with positive comments about our home resort, SSR! Now that's the way to start out a new year! :cool1:

When are you going to the boardwalk in May?. I will be there 14-21. We are staying in a studio with 3 kids, what do you think?

I just bought into HH, but rented points for my BW trip months ago, still going to the boardwalk and rent out the extra points I got with the HH deal. They will pay for the BW stay.

How do you like being a DVC member? What are the benifits, did I make a mistake buying HH. I am from NJ also and like the fact I had a beach house to go to other then NJ shore. I live at the shore and need to get away in the summer.

One lone cheerio.... :jumping4: eeeegads :jumping4: , did you spray the area down with Lysol? I would have called mouse-keeping right away. I would have insisted, they send someone on the double and pick it up... How could they leave something so discusting. I schrutter to think where that cheerio could have been. Did you insist on some sort of compensation? I would think a free night or maybe some sort of gift basket is in order here!

Glad to hear you vacation wasn't ruined by this discusting situation. :flower1:I can't wait to arrive at SSR in April
