Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

Hmmm, not sure about DTD. Honestly, it doesn't look all that impressive as most Disney things do. I'll reserve judgement until it's done though. We've never spent much time there anyway. We went there more on this last trip than ever before b/c it was so easy taking the boat from POR (it was never crowded for us, thank goodness!). Normally we just make one trip there though and the time we stayed at CBR, we didn't go at all. We really only go there for WoD and WPE.

Haven't seen the new Poly rooms yet. You have my curiosity up???? I might actually like it more if it's brighter. The darkness of the Poly is really the only thing I don't like. I much prefer the bright colors of CBR. I've never cared for dark wood or dark colors. They make me feel like... eeyore. :eeyore:

havent seen the new Poly room yet, but that was our main complaint...waaaay to dark for us! hopefully I will like it...

I was going to try and post a link here, but the only place I see the pics is on Tikiman's site and I don't think we are allowed to link those here.

We usually go to DTD 2-3X a trip. So I am really hoping they don't mess it up!! :rotfl:

I was the same way -- loved the bright colors of CBR and had my doubts I would love the Poly because of the dark colors. I was wrong!!! I seriously could live there. Love it so much!! :lovestruc I hope we like the new rooms as much, but IDK...

After we were done in Tomorrowland we headed up Main Street for some shopping. We went in the store right beside Casey's and shopped the whole way to the front of Main Street at Town Square!

I got this shirt!

The kids made their purchases!!

DS13 got some light-up glasses.

DisneyDecember2012591_zps05fe6512.jpg

And DS11 got this light-up rope machine thingy. :confused3 He had seen it the night before at DHS and finally decided to buy it tonight. We eventually made our way the rest of the way down and out the door at the corner at Town Square and the MSEP had started. We really didn't have any intention of watching it, but now we were there so we saw some of it.

Here is DS11's light up rope thing.

It was finally working correctly there. But he was having trouble with it. I was afraid of that when he bought it, especially for what he paid for the dang thing.

We walked about half way back up main street and had a seat on the curb to wait for the new castle projection show and Wishes. DS11 was playing with this light up thing and the stupid rope came off the track for like the third time. He was totally bummed. So DH took him back into the Emporium and they returned it. Funny thing – while in there the CM that did the return was from the college that is about 3-4 miles from our house! :upsidedow It really is a small world!

Continued in next post....

DS11 decided that he better get a cool pair of light up glasses like his brother while he was in there and that's what he came back with. Just in time for the projection show to start!

And pretty soon it was time for Wishes!! I can't really say it was our best time watching Wishes. Lots of kids on their parents shoulders, blocking everyone else's view. And lots of rude people crowding and shoving. :(

But Wishes was as awesome as always. :cloud9:

As soon as Wishes was over we headed for the exit and the monorail. I took this little video on the way out.

On the monorail with their cool new glasses!

And in no time we were back at the Poly!

DS13 likes to say to DS11 – let's do the 'back-to-back' pose, whenever I tell them to pose!

DisneyDecember2012630_zpsf7a1ce25.jpg

So DH & I decided we were going to grab their new glasses and be super cool with a back-to-back pose!! And yes, there were plenty of people watching (and I am sure laughing at) us! :rotfl:

DisneyDecember2012631_zps82286daf.jpg

DisneyDecember2012632_zpsbff7bb81.jpg

And for some reason I have this pic of a torch that I guess I took on the way back to the room! :upsidedow

DisneyDecember2012633_zpsdcf16d15.jpg

And soon we were back to the room!

DisneyDecember2012634_zps71000a25.jpg

This is to show you how close our room was to the far exit of the Samoa building.

DisneyDecember2012635_zps4f0d93be.jpg

And with that we had another wonderful Disney day in and we were off to have a fabulous night's sleep in our very quiet Poly room! :cloud9:

Up Next: Finally Going to Epcot!

HOW FUN!!!

The glasses -- I remember them on the boys now!:lmao: So cute! That ribbon thing-a-ma-bob-a-deeley----- I've seen them before and they look fun but yes, very fragile or something? And so when you buy it and you run it for a few minutes, seems like you'd get bored doing it.:confused3 Maybe I'm just too spastic for it to hold my concentration for long, but I think I'd get bored with it.

It looked crowded on Main St, but you were out of there pretty fast!

I liked the video-- was that your youngest saying let's skip??

Sweet.

Nice Back to Back poses--- all of you! :)

Oh and if you google Tikiman Facebook, his pics come up. I actually like them better than the other pics I had seen here on the DIS. The green on the walls meshed well with the duvet runner on the end of the beds in the one picture from the doorway.

Still not completely sold on it, but guess we need to see it in person before we can say we love it or hate it.:cloud9:

Thanks for the update!:yay:

Lovely Wishes and castle pictures :)

I love the back-to-back poses, especially the ones of you and your DH lol

Yeah, that light up rope thingy looks cool when the CM is playing with it in the dark. But it's really not all that much fun when you own one!! :upsidedow

Yep, that's DS asking if we can skip! :rotfl: They like to link arms and skip out of the park!! Not something they would do at home, but I guess they figure they won't ever see those people again, so what the heck?!!! :lmao: Yes, we are nerds.

I just don't know what to think of the new Poly rooms. :confused3 Lots of peeps on the Poly thread are not too thrilled. I'd be willing to give it a try, but it's just not going to be the same.

Lovely Wishes and castle pictures :)

I love the back-to-back poses, especially the ones of you and your DH lol

Thank you! :goodvibes

DH and I were being goofy that night!! :rotfl:

Congrats on your new TA gig!!!!! Now a trip to Disney can be considered research for work! ;)

I loved your video of the castle lighting! We got to see it only once during our Dec trip and I thought it was beautiful!

Those light up glasses look like they'd give me a migraine but my kids would love them! Do they flicker or or just stay lit?

Hey Kelli! :goodvibes I was just thinking about you!! Wondering if you were going to continue with your TR? I hope so!

Pecos Bill's is usually pretty good!

Yeah, the Barnstormer is such a short ride. I hope the new Seven Dwarf's mine train is nice and long!!

I totally am going to continue. Work has just been nuts. Life has just been nuts. I am now nuts. :rolleyes1 I do have photos all uploaded, just need to get into gear for my next chapter. Hopefully next week!

Congratulations on the new job! You will be perfect!!!

I love the Wishes photos. I can just hear the music now. And the photos of you and your husband with the glasses back-to-back?! Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the wishes pics!!

My DS got one of those string things a while back and yes it broke shortly after. I did say I told you so. :(

Very cute glasses!!

My step-daughter bought that light-up rope thingy back in 2009. I'm not even sure if she ever played with it more than once. I guess maybe that's a good thing, since they seem pretty flimsy.

Too bad about the obstructed view of Wishes.

The back-to-back pose is fun! Maybe we should start doing it, if you don't mind us stealing it. ;)

Thanks Kim!! :goodvibes Yes, every time I am on the computer it is now for work! ;):rotfl:

The castle lighting was awesome, I'm so glad we got to see it!

Well the light up glasses are quite complex! They can flicker slow, flicker fast, or just stay lit!! Yeah, there's no way I could wear them for long or my eyes would be crossed! :crazy2:

Thanks! :)

Those things are such a rip off!! I think DS paid $28 for his. :faint: I'm so glad they let us return it!

Well at least hers didn't break!!

Yeah, Main Street was crowded that night and people were rude. :confused3

Oh yes, you can steal our pose!! I'm not even sure where the kids came up with it. Probably some tv show! :rotfl:

Shelly I fell behind again as usual but just had to comment on the new Poly Rooms. Having never stayed there I think they look inviting all nice and fresh and having never stayed at the Poly before I am still excited plus having a nice new room makes the price a bit easier to stomach. I did notice no more tikis by the sinks now? That was a nice touch I think and not sure about those bed pillows which seem to stick out?

Off to catch up now.......

The last time we were at the Poly, we had a room about 3 doors from the rear exit at the Tokelau...we loved that location! Out of that rear door, we were right at the area that tops on a little hill and has a hammock and next to that we watched a couple get married one afternoon! It was a great place to be!!

Yes, I think people who are staying at the Poly for the first time will really like the rooms! Those of us who have stayed there before, it's just not going to be the same. But hopefully we will like it!! :wizard:

Yeah, I'm not sure about the bathroom either.:confused3

We loved our room in Samoa!! :cloud9: DH wants to request it the next time we stay there! It was so convenient and quiet. I think just about any room in Samoa and Tokelau would be wonderful! ::yes::

I love that pic of the boys in their glasses! Very cool effect when it's that dark. I want a pair now!! :rotfl:

I don't know what it is about back to back poses, but it reminds me of the 80's so much! I call this pose the "Perfect Strangers". :lmao: Do you remember that show?!? It's awesome that you guys are bringing this back, I LOVE anything that's cheesy 80's. It's just so fun! :thumbsup2

This is why Disney is awesome. You can do the nerdiest, most ridiculous things and WHO CARES?!! It's just the best place ever to have fun :cloud9:
